The Shining Star Above The Heaven
Chapter 1286: Spreading Confusion and Tension
Aldrian, who was inside the underground city, felt a slight tingling in his soul as he self-destructed his avatar. Although he lost a small part of his soul, he did not mind it. His purpose in Rudraf City had been achieved.
He could heal his soul anyway, so he did not think too much about it.
With that much commotion, he believed that the news would spread to the surrounding domains. Everyone would hear about how Tarius' follower could wreak havoc in the heart of Remivas Domain and kill many strong cultivators.
Even more so because many of those who died were Immortal Saint cultivators and the leaders of noble families.
The surrounding domains would become more wary. With the news of how Tarius' followers had successfully attacked the heart of a domain, they would focus more on Tarius' followers across the Second Heaven.
Su and Rudraf were only one part of the plan. Aldrian needed to strike several more capital cities across different domains to spread even more terror throughout the Second Heaven.
The more tense they became and the more they focused on Tarius' followers, the better it would be for him and his followers.
The moment they only expected attacks from Tarius' followers, they would be caught by surprise when he and the resistance group began to retaliate and retake the Second Heaven.
As for the other Tarius' followers, who would obviously hear the news regarding the attack, they would be thrown into confusion. They would wonder about the identity of the Tarius follower who had accomplished all of that, and that confusion could cause them to make mistakes.
Their position in the Second Heaven was not strong, and they mostly hid inside their own small territories located in many places across the Second Heaven.
Those territories were the result of the covenant, which permitted the followers of other gods to reside in the conquered heaven in limited numbers compared to the followers of the god who ruled over that heaven.
Since Tarius and Avergis had turned hostile toward each other, the Tarius' followers, being outnumbered and outmatched, chose a hit-and-run strategy. Even though there were gods among them, they still chose that strategy because Avergis had also sent his own gods' followers to fight them.
All this time, they could not attack the big cities in every domain, let alone the capital city of a domain, which was its heart. They would only be defeated if they tried, considering how many powerhouses resided there.
They only targeted small cities, towns, and temples causing destruction before continuing to hide.
But now, the news that Tarius' follower had devastated the city at the heart of a domain would spread. The powers across the Second Heaven would have to take this matter much more seriously.
As for those devils, their morale would receive a huge boost as the unknown Tarius' follower could wreak havoc in a capital city, allowing them to fight much harder and longer.
They could fight Avergis' followers more earnestly because they could see hope with the appearance of the unknown supporter. Most likely, they would consider the support to be direct reinforcement from Tarius, which in the end would raise their morale to the maximum.
The war between the followers of the two gods would become far more devastating than in the past, which was exactly what Aldrian wanted.
Aldrian then created another avatar to replace the one that had self-destructed, and he also gave it everything it needed for its mission inside a storage ring.
He had many storage rings and talismans that he could afford to waste on avatars carrying out this kind of mission. This avatar would now head to another capital city, the capital of a different domain.
The mission remained the same. Create terror and uncertainty among the powers, including the temples, across the Second Heaven. Make them constantly stay on edge, waiting for an attack from Tarius' follower.
The members of the resistance group then escorted the avatar to the next target city.
---------------------------
Just as Aldrian had predicted and expected, the news spread across the domains surrounding the Remivas family domain the next day, and soon it would spread across the Second Heaven.
The fact that Tarius' follower could cause so much destruction in the capital city of a domain sent shockwaves through many powers. They had never expected that Tarius' followers would attack the capital city of a domain and actually succeed.
All this time, they had only heard of Tarius' followers attacking small cities before going into hiding. That strategy had caused headaches for many powers because they had difficulty dealing with them.
They understood that Tarius' followers chose that strategy because they lacked the strength in the Second Heaven to compete directly with the powers across it, almost all of whom had their roots in Avergis' universe.
But the news that they had killed many important people in Rudraf, coupled with the earlier chaos in Su City, made them uncertain.
Were Tarius' followers not as weak as they had thought? Why were they suddenly attacking in this manner?
Many questions arose, but whatever the answer, many powers became more wary as they heightened the security across their territories.
-----------------------------
In the Sacred Temple Domain, the nearest domain to the central region of the Second Heaven, it was not an exaggeration to say that this domain was the most important domain across the Second Heaven.
This domain was where the headquarters of the temple in the Second Heaven was located. It was the place where the absolute peak, the leader of the temple who led all the temple branches across the Second Heaven, resided.
The capital city of this domain was located right at its center. It was also the city where one of the Towers of God's Sovereign was built. The central Tower of God's Sovereign could be said to be the main foundation of the giant formation that covered the entire domain.
The difference between this tower and the other Towers of God's Sovereign was that it was located on a floating land that hovered high above the city, right at its center.
Just like any capital city of a domain, this city was the biggest and grandest in the entire domain. It also housed the grandest temple and the strongest force in the domain, with five peak Immortal Saint cultivators residing within it.
Among the five, one was the strongest and the one who led all the temples. It was a special position that Avergis had personally blessed and personally appointed. It was also the only position that could only be filled by a cultivator from the higher heavens.
The people called him the Temple Grandmaster of the Second Heaven.
Currently, inside the temple complex located on the same floating land where the tower was built, everything appeared normal. A sacred atmosphere filled the area as countless people visited the floating land aboard their cruisers, the temple members carried out their daily activities, and the Grandmaster sat inside his hall, which served as his place of meditation.
The Temple Grandmaster was an old man with long white hair tied into a ponytail and a short white beard. He wore a clean white robe, and the style of his grand robe clearly reflected his status as the Grandmaster.
He sat on his throne with his eyes closed in meditation. With a halo of light behind him, he looked like a god descending from the heavens. His powerful and holy aura made everyone who looked at him want to prostrate themselves before him, as though it was an innate reaction for anyone who sensed his aura directly.
That was because the property of his aura was nearing divinity.
That sign alone was enough to tell that his true cultivation had already reached the threshold of divinity, and that was true because he was a Demigod.
Although he seemed to be sitting there quietly in meditation, the truth was that he could sense everything within the temple and even across the city far below him. In this place, he was like a god, the one who decided everything here.
While he was still meditating, a man entered the hall with his gaze lowered. He continued approaching the throne, and once he reached the boundary that prevented him from getting any closer, he kowtowed before the old man.
"Your Eminence, my apologies for interrupting your time, but I came here to report something important," he said.
The old man answered without opening his eyes.
"Speak."
The man lifted his head but kept his gaze lowered.
"There is news from Rudraf that the city was attacked again last night by Tarius' follower, and this time, the damage was truly severe, with many of the city's powerhouses falling. It even included the patriarch of the Remivas family himself," he said.
This caused the old man to slowly open his eyes.
"The attacker carried out a suicide attack, which caused tens of Immortal Saints to die along with him. Besides the patriarch of the Remivas family, several other leaders of noble families also died."
"Based on the information we have gathered, it appears that there is a connection between the group of attackers in Su City and Rudraf City. This strengthens our belief that the number of Tarius' followers from the higher heavens who have come to the Second Heaven could be much higher than our previous estimation."
The old man frowned.
'Much higher?' Displeasure rose in his heart.
'How could so many of them slip past our surveillance? How did those bastards do it?'
