Chapter 214: Luna playing hide-and-seek with Noah.

Noah looked around, since he needed to find Luna before she did something crazy, but he didn’t know where she was.

She could be behind him, near the door, next to a window, or even sitting in one of the empty spaces.

Noah slowly raised his gaze, checked the sofa, then the area near the stairs, and nothing.

Reina looked at him.

"What are you looking for?"

Noah reacted.

"Nothing."

"You’re looking all over the place."

"I thought I heard something."

Misaki slightly raised her head.

"What thing?"

Noah stayed silent.

’No.’

He didn’t want Misaki to start searching, since she would probably notice something.

"It must have been outside."

Misaki watched him for a few seconds, but then went back to her drink, so Noah discreetly sighed and the phone vibrated again.

[Why are you looking for me?]

Noah’s eyes widened.

’Because I want to keep you from attacking my guests.’

He typed.

[Luna, please, calm down.]

[I am calm.]

[Doesn’t seem like it.]

[I haven’t attacked anyone.]

Noah stared at the message and then another one arrived.

[Yet.]

’No, no, no.’

Noah stood up and Ayane looked at him.

"Noah?"

He smiled.

"I’m going to get some water."

Emma appeared from the kitchen.

"Want me to bring it to you?"

"No."

He answered too quickly and then corrected himself.

"I mean, I can go myself."

Emma watched him.

"Alright, but don’t overdo it."

"Yeah."

Noah walked toward the kitchen, but as he moved, he discreetly looked around and saw nothing, so he took out his phone.

[Luna, come to the kitchen.]

[What for?]

[To talk.]

[We can talk through here.]

[I don’t want to keep texting.]

[Then tell them to leave.]

Noah clenched his teeth.

[Luna.]

The reply arrived after a few seconds.

[I’m behind you.]

Noah stopped and slowly turned his head, but nothing.

’Seriously?’

He discreetly extended a hand and his fingers touched something, so Noah went still.

An invisible hand took hold of his, confirming that Luna was there, which made Noah feel both relief and worry at the same time.

He tried to lead her toward the hallway, but she didn’t move and Noah discreetly glanced toward the living room.

Ayane and the others were still talking while Emma was putting some things away, so he took the chance to whisper.

"Come."

A very low voice answered right next to his ear.

"Where?"

Noah almost jumped.

’Don’t do that!’

Luna let go of his hand and Noah received another message.

[Do you want to talk in private?]

[Yes!]

[Understood.]

He felt someone take his hand again, so Noah started walking.

He crossed the hallway and headed toward the bathroom.

He opened the door, went in, waited to feel that Luna had also entered, and then closed it.

"Alright."

A figure appeared in front of him.

Luna deactivated her invisibility and had her arms crossed with a serious expression.

"Noah."

He sighed.

"Luna."

"Why are they here?"

"I already explained it to you."

"They’re enemies."

"I know."

"One of them shot you."

Noah stayed silent, since that was a hard argument to dispute, and Luna continued.

"Another one summons monsters."

"Yeah."

"And Ayane is the one who leads them."

"I know that too."

Luna slightly furrowed her brow.

"Then I don’t understand why you’re so calm."

Noah took a deep breath.

"Because today they didn’t come to attack me."

"How do you know?"

"I’ve talked with them."

"That doesn’t prove anything."

Noah leaned against the sink.

"Luna."

She watched him.

"Listen to me."

Luna stayed silent and Noah continued.

"I understand that you’re worried."

"I am."

"And I appreciate that you want to protect me."

Luna slightly lowered her gaze.

"But you can’t attack someone just because you suspect they might hurt me."

"They’re members of the enemy organization."

"Yes."

"They’ve tried to capture you."

"That too."

"Then..."

Noah gently interrupted her.

"Ayane helped me when Nozomi tried to kidnap me."

Luna stayed silent and Noah continued.

"And today they came because they found out I was in the hospital."

"All three of them?"

"That’s right."

Luna seemed to hesitate and Noah smiled slightly.

"Besides, my mom invited them in."

Luna raised her gaze.

"Emma?"

"Yes."

Luna closed her eyes for a second.

"That complicates things."

"A lot."

Noah moved a little closer.

"I just want you not to do anything."

Luna watched him; for several seconds she didn’t speak and finally asked.

"Do you trust them?"

Noah thought, since he knew the situation wasn’t simple.

Those three had responsibilities within the enemy organization and he couldn’t forget everything that had happened before.

But he had also seen their recent actions, especially Ayane’s, so he finally answered.

"Yes, I trust them."

Luna slightly raised her eyebrows and Noah continued.

"I trust that they won’t hurt me while they’re here."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

Luna watched him in silence and then sighed.

"Alright."

Noah blinked.

"Alright?"

She nodded.

"If you trust them..."

She made a small pause.

"...then I’ll trust them too."

Noah felt relief.

"Thank you."

Luna approached.

"But if they try to do something to you..."

"They won’t."

"If they do."

Noah sighed.

"Then you can intervene."

Luna nodded.

"Good."

Noah smiled.

’Finally.’

For a moment he believed the problem was solved, but then they heard some knocks on the door.

"Noah."

Both of them went still, since it was Ayane, so Noah’s eyes widened and Luna turned toward the door.

"Noah?"

Ayane called again.

"Are you okay?"

Noah reacted immediately.

"Yes!"

There was a short silence and Ayane continued.

"It’s just that you’ve been in the bathroom for quite a while."

Noah looked at Luna, who remained completely calm, which worried him, so he approached and whispered to her.

"Go invisible."

Luna looked at him.

"Why?"

"Because Ayane is outside."

"I already know that."

"I don’t want her to see you."

Luna smiled slightly and Noah furrowed his brow.

"Luna."

"Alright."

Her body slowly disappeared until Noah confirmed he could no longer see her and then he answered toward the door.

"I’m coming out!"

He opened it, seeing that Ayane was standing in front of him, and her expression changed immediately upon seeing him.

"Noah!"

Noah blinked.

"What?"

She examined him carefully.

"Were you feeling bad?"

"No."

"You sure?"

"Yes, sure."

Ayane seemed genuinely worried.

"I thought maybe your head had started hurting again."

Noah shook his head.

"I’m fine."

She sighed.

"Thank goodness."

Noah smiled.

"Thanks for worrying."

Ayane stayed still and then slightly lowered her gaze.

"Of course."

What was going to happen next was going to be unexpected.
