Chapter 212: An Unexpected Visit for Noah.

Noah was lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling of his room, and a day had passed since he had been discharged from the hospital.

Although the doctors had found nothing concerning during the latest checkups, they had still recommended that he rest and avoid unnecessary strain.

That was precisely what he was trying to do, but there was a problem, and it was that he could not stop thinking about what had happened at the movie theater.

’What was that?’

He remembered the movie he had gone to see with Stella perfectly.

The protagonist, her relationship with that guy, the way he had started avoiding her and, finally, the scene in which she ran desperately to reach a plaza.

Noah frowned.

’Why did I react like that?’

He had tried to convince himself that everything was related to his previous life, since after all, he had also had a relationship that had ended rather badly.

He remembered how he had discovered that his former girlfriend had only gone out with him because of a bet and he also remembered that, after finding out, he had decided to stop talking to her.

He had not wanted to confront her; he had simply distanced himself and the movie had some similarities to that experience, but that did not explain everything.

’Especially that dream.’

Noah closed his eyes and tried to remember again.

He had been crying while there was a girl in front of him, someone who seemed very important and yet he could not manage to recall her face or her name either.

’Who was she?’

The more he tried to remember it, the more confused he felt.

He had even considered asking the goddess, since after all, she knew about his previous life.

Perhaps she could explain to him if that was some memory he had forgotten, but he still had not had the chance to speak with her.

Besides, after what had happened during their last encounter, Noah did not know how to start that conversation either.

He sighed.

"I have more and more questions."

Then he heard a voice from the floor below.

"Noah!"

It was his mother, Emma, so Noah lifted his head slightly.

"What is it!?"

"Come down for a moment!"

Noah looked toward the door.

"What for!?"

"You have visitors!"

Noah blinked.

’Visitors?’

He checked his phone and he had no recent messages from Yume, nor from Aria either.

Luna had texted him that morning to ask how he was feeling, but she had not mentioned that she was thinking of visiting him.

’Who could it be?’

He got up slowly, adjusted his clothes and left the room, but while he was going down the stairs, he heard several voices coming from the living room.

One of them sounded familiar, too familiar, so Noah slowed his steps.

’Wait.’

He heard a small laugh, then a female voice answered with clear annoyance and Noah stopped in front of the entrance to the living room.

He looked inside and froze completely.

Ayane was sitting on one of the sofas while Reina occupied the seat next to her and Misaki was sitting across from them.

Emma had placed several drinks on the table and Noah’s eyes widened.

’WHAT THE HELL!?’

Reina was the first to see him and her expression changed immediately.

"Oh!"

She raised a hand.

"Look who showed up!"

Ayane turned her head and, upon seeing Noah, stood up so quickly that she almost hit the table.

"N-Noah!"

Misaki also looked up.

"Hey, sicko."

Noah remained silent, looked at Ayane, then at Reina and finally at Misaki.

’What are the three of them doing in my house?’

Emma smiled.

"There you are."

Noah looked at her slowly.

"Mom..."

"Yes?"

"What...?"

Emma pointed at the guests.

"Your friends came to visit you."

Noah looked at them again.

Reina smiled while Ayane looked completely nervous and Misaki kept her usual expression.

’Did she say friends?’

Noah knew very well that those three belonged to the Great Mother’s organization, which was the same organization that had tried to capture him on multiple occasions and that still considered him an important target.

’How did they end up sitting in my living room?’

Emma continued.

"They told me they were worried about what happened to you."

Noah looked at Ayane, who nodded quickly.

"That’s right, my Noah!"

Her voice came out too loud, so Ayane cleared her throat.

"I mean..."

She lowered her gaze slightly.

"We heard that you were hospitalized."

Noah watched her and Ayane continued.

"So we wanted to check that you were okay."

Reina smiled.

"Especially Ayane."

"Reina!"

"What is it?"

"There’s no need to point that out!"

Misaki sighed.

"Behave, Reina."

Reina crossed her arms.

"I’m just telling the truth."

Noah still did not know how to react and Emma noticed.

"Aren’t you going to greet them?"

Noah reacted immediately.

"Ah!"

He looked at the three of them.

"Hello."

Reina smiled.

"Hello, Noah."

Misaki nodded.

"I’m glad you’re recovering."

Ayane tried to smile.

"How are you feeling?"

Noah hesitated.

"Fine."

She seemed to relax.

"I’m glad."

Emma observed the scene with satisfaction.

"Well, I’m going to finish preparing a few things."

Noah turned quickly.

"Mom?"

"Yes?"

He looked at the three guests, then back at Emma and he wanted to tell her that she could not leave them alone with him, but how could he explain it?

He could not tell her that they belonged to an enemy organization and he also did not want to provoke a confrontation inside his house, so in the end he answered.

"Nothing."

Emma smiled.

"Chat comfortably."

And she left toward the kitchen.

Noah remained standing, at which Reina watched the door through which Emma had left and then looked at Noah.

"Your mother is very kind."

Noah looked at her.

"Yeah..."

"She invited us in without any problem."

"I see."

Reina smiled more.

"We could come more often."

"That’s not necessary."

The reply came out immediately, so Ayane closed her eyes while Misaki looked at Reina and Reina raised an eyebrow.

"How mean."

Noah sighed and finally decided to sit down, but he chose a chair from which he could watch the three of them.

Ayane noticed and her expression turned a little sad.

"Noah..."

He looked at her.

"Yes?"

"Does it bother you that we came?"

Noah stayed silent, since the question was complicated for him to answer.
