The Rule-Breaker of the Doomsday Game

Chapter 442: The Fall of the Daywalker

  • Next Chapter

Daywalker slowly woke up. The first thing he saw was the Piercing Demon, strung up and surrounded by twelve Blood Race Sacred Artifacts that were suppressing its power.

Before he could figure out what was happening, Qi Suian, with a few quick hacks, chopped the Piercing Demon into three pieces.

Because its head was still hanging, the two sections below the neck dropped away. Qi Suian then stuffed them into some unknown space.

"You're awake. Had a nice sleep, didn't you?" Qi Suian's gaze turned to him.

Daywalker was processing the scene before him, which utterly defied his comprehension.

"I thought you were supposed to be in Villerlis Town," Daywalker said.

"You didn't arrive as we agreed, so I went to investigate along your army's line of march. I saw the Church's army, completely wiped out."

"The good news is, I didn't find your body. So I followed the traces all the way to the Queen's Bell Tower," Qi Suian said bluntly, omitting some details.

Daywalker didn't question Qi Suian's explanation. Instead, he pointed at the Piercing Demon and asked, "What's the situation?"

"As you can see, I got lucky. I used blood seals and the Sacred Artifacts to suppress the Piercing Demon, and it went very smoothly."

"Unfortunately, its immortality is too strong, so I can only chop off a few parts from time to time."

"Right now, I'm trying to figure out if I can seal it away." Qi Suian's words were half-truth, half-lie.

Daywalker wasn't suspicious. After all, the Piercing Demon was indeed powerful. As for why it left Villerlis Town, he had no way of knowing.

"How is the last scion of the Villeries family?" Daywalker asked.

"Doing quite well. After the Piercing Demon left, I settled her in Villerlis Town. I expect she's probably moved back into her grand castle by now."

"If you want to see her, I can take you there," Qi Suian said.

'What? Britney is already dead? No problem. I know how to clone.'

'I kept a sample when I dissected her before, just in case she died accidentally. That way, I wouldn't have a hard time explaining it to Daywalker.'

'When the time comes, I can just clone another one as a replacement.'

"No need. As long as she's alive, that's enough." Daywalker had no intention of actually going to see the last scion of the Villeries family.

To him, it was unlikely that Qi Suian would deliberately lie to him, especially since she wasn't anyone important.

"How is the Church doing?" Daywalker quickly moved on from Britney's situation and asked about the current state of affairs.

"Not great. The Church's Extraordinaries are almost all dead, and you, the Sect Leader, have gone missing."

"Internal splits and power struggles have started to appear. The unified front is beginning to waver."

"Do you need some time to sort things out?" Qi Suian asked tentatively.

But Daywalker shook his head. "No, this is good."

"War means death, but humanity needs an internal war to weaken the influence of faith and redirect the conflict."

"Human civilization will be healthier after this rebirth."

'As for those who die in the war, they're just a necessary sacrifice.'

'He had done enough for humanity. From now on, they had to walk their own path.'

'There were indeed peaceful ways to bring about change, but they would take far too long, and hidden dangers would remain.'

'It was better to have a thorough slaughter and reshuffle the deck.'

'Quick, convenient, clean, and hassle-free.'

"I don't understand any of that." Qi Suian couldn't care less about the future of human civilization in the Blood Race World; he only cared about his deal with Daywalker. "So, about my payment for this deal, how do you plan on giving it to me?"

"Try using the Slaughter Knife and the Execution Axe?" Daywalker hesitated for a moment before offering the suggestion.

"The Piercing Demon's immortality and eternal life grant it immunity to the power of the Blood Race Sacred Artifacts. I suspect it's the same for you." From Daywalker's answer, Qi Suian could tell that the man didn't know how to kill himself either.

"Then you'll just have to figure it out yourself. You're the one who wants to kill me. I've already cooperated as much as I can."

"You can't expect me to figure out how to kill myself, can you?" Daywalker gave a slight smile, then lay right down on the ground, looking like he'd completely given up.

On the verge of death, he wasn't afraid. Instead, he felt a sense of relief.

He had grown up in the Church. From the moment he became a Discipline Priest, he had never let his guard down, constantly growing stronger to fight the Blood Race.

Now, it was all over. Without this heavy burden, he felt exceptionally light.

Qi Suian was speechless when he heard this.

Finally, he sighed and said, "Well, it's not like there are no solutions."

"I could chop you into seven or eight pieces, then toss you into my Melting Furnace as fuel. That would definitely burn you up completely."

"Even the Piercing Demon burns quite thoroughly in there, let alone you," Qi Suian suggested.

This left Daywalker speechless.

"If my body is too big for you to burn efficiently, you can just say so. I can turn into bats."

"There's no need to chop me into seven or eight pieces and make me suffer right before I die." Since Daywalker was cooperating, he certainly wouldn't go back on his word.

"It's not called suffering, it's called having a sense of ceremony," Qi Suian retorted stubbornly.

'He was so used to solving things with force that he'd forgotten he could just let Daywalker do it himself.'

"No, you just plain forgot, didn't you," Daywalker said directly.

Qi Suian skipped the topic and said, "Then we'll do it your way. Turn into bats."

Now that he was free of his responsibilities, Daywalker no longer cared for social niceties.

'After he was dead, the deluge could come for all he cared.'

"Alright then. Goodbye, world," Daywalker said, scattering into countless albino bats.

They then converged into one large ball of bats.

Qi Suian grabbed handfuls of bats and shoved them into the Melting Furnace. He was incredibly fast; the entire, enormous ball of bats was inside the Melting Furnace within just ten seconds.

After entering the Melting Furnace, Daywalker didn't die immediately. Instead, he could feel his body being continuously broken down.

His powerful immortality was indeed sustaining his life, allowing him to observe the entire interior of the Melting Furnace.

He even saw the Piercing Demon's mutilated body also being broken down. But because it was stronger than him and was still resisting, the decomposition rate was slower than his.

"It seems... it isn't painful," Daywalker said softly. All the bats were broken down into evolutionary energy, and with that, he vanished.

His immortality could indeed make him undying, but the burning efficiency of the Melting Furnace, coupled with his own cooperation, was enough to overwhelm it.

Once everything was broken down and burned away, the immortality lost its foundation and naturally dissipated into nothing.

This was also thanks to Qi Suian having used a Legendary Equipment Stone to enhance his three-piece growth set. Otherwise, it might not have been this efficient.

With Daywalker's death, Qi Suian's gaze fell upon his own protagonist's halo.

On what was originally a thirteen-layered, pillar-shaped protagonist's halo, a fourteenth layer began to form. The whole process was extremely fast, completing in an instant.

[Enhancement +13: Immortality]

'HP lock?' Qi Suian was slightly surprised as he looked at the new enhancement effect his protagonist's halo had gained.

But after examining it closely, he realized it wasn't the Blood Race's version of HP lock, but a new type of effect formed from Daywalker's dual human and Blood Race bloodlines.

It was basically like having the option to use your mana bar as a substitute for your health bar.

As long as his energy wasn't depleted, he wouldn't die.

Fundamentally, the effect was definitely inferior to the Blood Race's immortality.

After all, theirs was a rule-level ability, much stronger in terms of raw power.

But it wasn't without its advantages. The Blood Race's immortality came from their own source of power; once they left the Blood Race World, it would become completely useless.

But the immortality Qi Suian got from Daywalker wouldn't fail unless he completely ran out of energy.

'Calling it "immortality" is a stretch. It's just using my mana bar as my health bar.'

'Although it's a passive skill, I can actually control it.' Qi Suian could prevent it from activating by restricting the flow of energy in his body.

After all, Qi Suian had the "Death and Recasting" talent, and needed to die and restart every now and then.

If this new effect were to activate, it would interfere with the efficiency of his Death and Recasting.

He would have to deplete his entire mana bar before his health bar, during which time a large number of passives would activate, making the process of dying even more difficult for Qi Suian.

Dying was already difficult because of his SSS-rank talent, Human World Tai Sui God. With this new effect, Qi Suian was now absurdly tanky.

"Very useful in combat, but a hindrance at any other time," Qi Suian muttered.

Still, he wasn't complaining. As long as it was a passive, it would always be in effect, which was a huge advantage over an active skill.

After dealing with Daywalker, Qi Suian's gaze once again fell upon the Piercing Demon.

The demon let out a silent laugh.

"You deceived Daywalker. The last scion of the Villeries family is already dead," the Piercing Demon said, its tone dripping with sarcasm.

Qi Suian's expression didn't change in the slightest. "Let's go. It's time we went to the Villeries family's grand castle."

"I hope you're not lying to me. I really want to find the Evil Key."

"Besides, this is good for you too."

"If I open a passage between the Red Sea and the real world, maybe your mother can save you," Qi Suian said with a grin.

'He'd murdered people and burned things down. Weren't those things much worse than lying or breaking a promise?'

'He felt no guilt for doing things like that, so why would he feel guilty about this?'

'So he didn't understand why the Piercing Demon thought something like this would affect him.'

Qi Suian hauled the demon up, summoned a Fei, and had it take them back.

"Actually, I'm curious. Why do you think deception is more serious than killing?" Qi Suian asked casually.

The Piercing Demon was stunned for a moment, then said, "But... you deceived your friend."

"And I also took his life," Qi Suian retorted. "Besides, who told you Daywalker and I were friends?"

"He and I had a purely transactional relationship, with not a shred of emotion involved."

"Even Daywalker could see that clearly, but you can't. How ironic," Qi Suian mocked the Piercing Demon in return.
