The Ruined World Was Mistaken for a Game
Chapter 308: Our Arsilan (1)
Translator: Dreamscribe
The countless dimensions that had once made up the southern region of the Dimensional Realm.
Now united as one, they had become Arsilan, our homeland.
The war of liberation, with Arsilan's fate hanging in the balance, had reached its climax.
Red beams dyed the sky crimson as though it were bathed in sunset, while shells and bullets poured down in black torrents like rain, so densely that there was hardly a patch of empty space left. Both sides unleashed everything they had at one another.
The warships of the Kalsus Dimensional Empire attempted to unleash a massive bombardment on the ground, but Arsilan's fleet did not stand idly by. They poured out fire from their Mana Particle Cannons until their Mana Engines overheated and exploded, and once the Mana Engines could no longer hold out, they charged straight at the enemy fleet.
[Ram them straight in!]
[Now this is what I call epic!]
[Hell yeah!]
[Just jump out! Bail!]
The sight of the fleets exploding overhead truly looked as though the sky itself were collapsing.
Watching such a spectacle, the Heroes could not help but think about money.
“Whole apartment complexes are disappearing.”
“How much money is that?”
Warships were incredibly expensive, so merely watching them explode like that was enough to give them a dopamine rush.
Arsilan was strong.
It was showing off every ounce of strength it had built up until now without holding anything back.
The barrage of shells raining down like a storm struck the Protective Barriers raised by mages and priests and exploded.
Blessed by Ella, the Protective Barriers became even sturdier, and when Helby cast her magic, Aura made of starlight gathered around everyone's weapons.
“Wipe them out!”
“Uaaaah!”
Heroes riding all manner of mounts charged forward like mad and swept through the soldiers. Tanks that looked like buildings were split in half and exploded, while fighters launched from warships crashed downward under barrages of magic, arrows, and bullets.
“Don't give ground!”
“Keep advancing until we reach the middle of the crystal structure!”
“Push the front line forward!”
Heina and the Imperial Knights commanded the battlefield. When Heina swung her sword, an Aura Blade erupted from it and cleaved several tanks in half.
It carried such tremendous sharpness that even the surface of the solid crystal structure cracked beneath it.
“Whoa! That's sick.”
“That's the tier above Sword Qi, right?”
“I've never seen it before!”
“I think you need to be over level 300 to use that.”
Heina gave a faint grin at the Heroes' cheers before returning to directing the battlefield.
At the center of the crystal structure was a passage leading down to the heart of the Great Gate. If they could advance there and hold their ground until the Key Card completely seized control of the Great Gate, Arsilan would win. If the Great Gate were connected to Arsilan, they would be able to use its power to expel the forces of the Kalsus Dimensional Empire outside.
The forces of the Kalsus Dimensional Empire kept pouring in without end, but everyone's faces were brimming with hope.
WHOOOOOSH! WHOOOSH!
Something enormous came flying from far away at incredible speed. At first, the Heroes thought it was a crashing warship. The noise it made simply by tearing through the atmosphere was enough to make the colossal crystal structure tremble.
They crashed down in front of the rapidly advancing forces of Arsilan. It looked as though enormous buildings had fallen from the sky.
KRAAAAAASH!
They slammed into the crystal structure and shook the entire surrounding area.
“Uagh!”
“Kyaaah!”
The impact of striking the crystal structure alone shattered the Protective Barriers and sent nearby Heroes and Arsilanians flying. Hundreds of Arsilanians were hit and forcibly Returned to Arsilan on the spot.
Dust from the shattered crystal structure spread through the area like fog. Helby swept her hand, sending out a blast of wind that blew the haze away.
“Ah….”
“Those are….”
The Heroes faltered before the gigantic structures blocking their path.
They were so tall that the Heroes had to crane their heads back just to see the tops, and they were as broad as fortress walls.
HISSSSS!
Cracks formed across their surfaces, and red light and smoke burst out.
THUD! THUD!
The outer shells separated and crashed to the ground.
The Heroes' eyes widened at what lay inside. Those enormous structures had merely been cases. Inside them were gigantic weapons.
Their folded legs unfurled and stretched outward like a spider's. Several enormous lenses were mounted on their heads, while countless weapon-laden arms emerged from their torsos.
When their long legs touched the crystal structure, their sheer weight caused powerful vibrations that violently shook the surrounding area.
The Heroes knew the name of those weapons.
They had gathered a great deal of information while fighting the Kalsus Dimensional Empire. They had seen information about those weapons in ship databases, but they had never seen one in person.
“Titan…!”
They were the colossal super-weapons of the Kalsus Dimensional Empire known as Titans.
FWOOOSH!
Despite its enormous size, the Titan was incredibly agile. It shot straight up into the sky before dropping into the middle of Arsilan's formation.
Its sheer mass was so overwhelming that simply moving could have qualified it as a kinetic weapon.
“Uagh!”
“W-What the hell?!”
The Heroes and Arsilanians stared blankly at the Titan that had suddenly barged into their midst.
The Titan's head rotated as it scanned the area.
SHNK!
The Titan stretched several arms outward. Red beams erupted from the long arms, burning through the air as they flickered ominously.
They looked almost like Aura Swords.
Each was as long as a large warship, making their sheer presence oppressive.
“What the hell is that…?”
“A beam sword?”
“N-No way….”
VRRRRRRRR!
A sound like a motor spinning came from the Titan's torso.
It was as enormous as the Titan itself, loud enough to feel as though it would rupture their eardrums. The advancing troops of the Kalsus Dimensional Empire halted and began retreating far backward.
The Heroes instantly realized how the weapon was going to operate.
The arms emitting beams slowly began rotating along lines running around the torso. As the arms spun through the sky, they formed a disc-shaped blender made of beams.
The arms gradually angled downward.
“D-Dodge!”
“Raise the Protective Barriers…!”
KRRRRRAAAASH!
It devastated everything around it, slicing through the Heroes and forcing the Arsilanians back to Arsilan through Return. More than a thousand of them vanished in an instant.
And there were three Titans in total.
Ella was occupied blocking the entire barrage raining down upon the Heroes, while Helby flew through the sky, continuously destroying the endless stream of Kalsus Dimensional Empire warships.
Neither seemed to have the capacity to deal with the Titans.
“This is insane.”
“Whoa….”
The Heroes stared in awe at the Titans' power.
Red beams even fired from the lenses mounted on their heads, allowing them to launch ranged attacks as well. They were protected by shields too, so ordinary attacks barely affected them. At that level, they could practically be called world boss monsters.
“Haaah!”
Leon came flying in, leaving afterimages behind him, and blocked the beam sword spinning like a blender. The blade forming the beam sword alone was far thicker than Leon was tall, yet when the Holy Sword met it, the beam sword was the one pushed back.
GRRRRRRNNK!
The Titan, which had been advancing with overwhelming force, came to a temporary stop.
“Ghk!”
But smoke erupted from the Titan's torso as it began forcing Leon backward. Its other arms also reached out to attack Leon, but Ella intervened and raised a Protective Barrier. Since Ella was already maintaining a massive Protective Barrier, the barrier's light was faint.
“Attack!”
“Urgh! It's tough!”
The Heroes and Arsilanians unleashed a barrage of attacks, but all they managed to do was crack the shield.
KRAAAASH!
NorthernGrandDuke's warship, which had barely managed to stay aloft, exploded and began crashing down. It had been wrecked after colliding with General Gord's warship, so the fact that it had remained airborne until now was impressive in itself.
Something shot out of the warship and fell toward the Titan. What appeared to be Aura formed comet-like tails behind them as they plunged downward.
KRAAAAAASH!
They completely shattered the shield and crashed straight into the Titan's head.
“Huh?”
“NorthernGrandDuke!”
It was NorthernGrandDuke and the northern Heroes who followed her. NorthernGrandDuke wore a cloak symbolizing her status as a commander, but it was engulfed in roaring flames.
FLAP!
She tore off the cloak and threw it aside, then raised the two-handed axe in her hands, which shimmered with Aura. The northern Heroes also wore vicious grins as Aura erupted from them.
KRAANG!
When she brought the axe down on the Titan's head, cracks spread across it.
NorthernGrandDuke spotted Leon struggling to hold his ground.
FWEET!
When she whistled, the northern Heroes nodded and began moving as one.
They leapt from the top of the Titan and went into free fall. The northern Heroes clustered around NorthernGrandDuke fell together, then raised their weapons.
As they reached the strongest arm that was forcing Leon back, they twisted their bodies around and swung their weapons.
SLASH!
Their Aura-infused weapons sliced straight through the arm. The joint split apart, and the arm crashed to the ground.
The beam sword projecting from the arm did not disappear. The arm itself contained its own power unit.
Leon looked toward NorthernGrandDuke and the northern Heroes after they landed on the ground. Leon smiled faintly and nodded, and NorthernGrandDuke grinned back and nodded as well.
“I have a good idea! Will you help me?”
“Of course.”
Leon approached the Titan's severed arm lying on the ground. NorthernGrandDuke immediately understood what he meant.
“Everyone, gather around!”
NorthernGrandDuke, along with every nearby Hero and Arsilanian, grabbed hold of the arm.
“Lift!”
At NorthernGrandDuke's command, everyone poured their strength into it and lifted the gigantic arm.
Everyone looked at the Titan standing before them.
Their faces were filled with smiles.
There was only one thing left to do.
“Spin it!”
NorthernGrandDuke gave the order.
Everyone exerted their strength and began spinning the arm. The rotation was slow at first, but once it built momentum, it began spinning incredibly fast.
The beam sword projecting from the arm merged with the light flowing from Leon's Holy Sword, becoming even longer and more powerful. It began grinding relentlessly through the Titan's body.
“Throw it!”
Everyone released it at once, and the spinning arm flew forward, slicing through the Titan before sweeping across the formation of the Kalsus Dimensional Empire.
They cheered at the sight, but soon had no choice but to stop.
Two Titans still remained, and they were rapidly charging toward Arsilan's formation.
“GRAAAAAH!”
“GRRROOOOAR!”
Enormous Test Subjects emerged among the forces of the Kalsus Dimensional Empire. Blue light flowing from the Great Gate continued summoning more troops. They still had a long way to go before reaching the passage leading downward, but they were being overwhelmed by sheer numbers.
But we had the Arsilanians who had newly joined us.
The situation was desperate, but they did not give up. They supported wounded Heroes and gripped their weapons with trembling hands, steeling themselves to fight to the very end.
“We won't run away.”
“Let's fight to the end.”
“This is Arsilan, after all.”
When they said that to the Heroes, the Heroes grinned faintly and nodded.
Together, they renewed their resolve and moved toward a shared goal.
That became a new source of strength. Light burst from their chests, brightly illuminating the surrounding area.
As though reflecting each of their cultures, every light was a different color. Yet the energy they gave off was incredibly warm.
This was Arsilan's new light.
Even the advancing forces of the Kalsus Dimensional Empire faltered momentarily at the sight. Leon raised the Holy Sword, and Ella and Helby likewise stretched their hands toward the sky.
[Your light now dwells within Arsilan.]
At that moment, a gigantic Summoning Circle appeared, connecting to the Spirit World. Behemoth, Leviathan, and Griffin appeared in their enormous forms, followed by the Summons.
And that was not all.
[All of Arsilan answers your call.]
Everyone could only stare in amazement.
The most powerful creatures from each of their homelands emerged, roaring as they tore through space itself.
There were house-sized creatures resembling elephants, golems the size of small islands, and even blazing birds. Their appearances, sizes, and forms were all wildly different.
The one thing they had in common was their deep hatred for the Kalsus Dimensional Empire.
“Ah….”
“You came too.”
“Sniff….”
Those who recognized them felt their chests swell with emotion.
THOOOM!
Behemoth moved his enormous body to the very front. After loosening himself up, he stared at the Titan.
Summoned in his complete true form, Behemoth was every bit as enormous as the Titan. He truly looked the part of the leader of the Summons.
GRAAAAAAAH!
When Behemoth roared, lightning crashed down and destroyed the Kalsus Dimensional Empire warships floating in the sky.
[Brothers and sisters of Arsilan! We will clear the way!]
Behemoth shouted in a thunderous voice.
Behemoth and the Summons charged forward and collided with the Titan.
KRAANG!
The Titan's enormous body was shoved far backward by the collision with Behemoth. The powerful creatures that had answered everyone's call also charged forward, radiating ferocious power.
Everyone stood stunned for a moment.
The Heroes were the first to recover.
“Whoa….”
“That's fucking awesome.”
“Think we can ride those?”
“It'd be great if we could….”
The Heroes stared at a gigantic hippopotamus-like creature, then asked the man standing beside them. The man smiled and nodded.
“It's gentle, so it should be fine.”
No sooner had he finished speaking than the creature roared like a lunatic and began violently trampling soldiers.
“…Doesn't look very gentle, but whatever, let's go!”
“Hahaha!”
The Heroes charged forward with them.
Leon lowered the Holy Sword and looked toward the Named Heroes.
“Heroes carrying the Key Cards, follow me!”
His shout reached everyone.
The Named Heroes possessing Key Cards quickly gathered around Leon. Haebyul, NorthernGrandDuke, LifeHunter, and all the other famous Named Heroes assembled together.
They summoned their mounts and charged forward as one.
Their objective was the center of the crystal structure.
Everyone was pushing forward with all their strength, and the forces of the Kalsus Dimensional Empire could no longer hold their ground and were forced backward. The entrance leading beneath the crystal structure came into view.
There was an elevator, but it was not functioning.
“If we go down there…!”
Leon was in the middle of speaking.
SWISH!
Something approached at tremendous speed and swung a sword flickering with black energy. Leon hurriedly raised the Holy Sword to block it, but the resulting shockwave swept through everything nearby.
Leon put strength into his sword and knocked the attacker away. The figure lightly retreated and landed.
“General Gord…!”
“It's General Gord!”
The Heroes shouted his name.
General Gord had finally appeared.
The attacks raining toward him bent and ricocheted away as soon as they neared General Gord. When General Gord raised one hand, tremendous pressure descended upon everyone.
But Leon was here.
The light of the Holy Sword drove away General Gord's power.
Leon took a deep breath and pointed the Holy Sword toward General Gord. As though already bored with the situation, General Gord shook his head and raised a hand.
WHOOOOOOOM!
Blue light began rippling across the entire crystal structure.
[A-A new fleet has appeared!]
A surviving operator observed the battlefield from above and reported the situation. Red dots continued multiplying on the mini-map floating in the Heroes' vision.
[Projectiles believed to be Titans are approaching. Their number is..., gasp! Sixteen units!]
Enormous projectiles launched from far away came into view.
-They're coming in huge numbers!
-This is insane….
-There's so fucking many.
-Is the Great Gate still not ready?
-Just hold out for now!
The communication channel was thrown into chaos as well.
Things never went smoothly. It was easy to understand now exactly how the Kalsus Dimensional Empire had conquered and ruled so many dimensions.
That would only make victory all the sweeter.
Rather than despairing at the approaching catastrophe, the Heroes cheered, while the Arsilanians' morale rose even higher.
“Heroes.”
Leon turned his head slightly and looked at the Named Heroes.
“This reminds me of the old days. Things seem better than they were back then.”
As they progressed from one episode to the next, they had faced crises comparable to this one every time. Each time, Arsilan had grown stronger and overcome the danger.
“We'll somehow hold them here.”
A broad smile spread across Leon's face.
He did not waver.
It was a bright smile that seemed completely out of place in such a desperate situation.
“Can I entrust Arsilan's fate to you, as I always have?”
Leon, Emperor of Silion, was asking them for this. That meant they had to succeed, no matter what.
“Of course!”
“Absolutely!”
“We'll be right back!”
“See you soon!”
The Named Heroes answered without hesitation.
There was no need for any further conversation. The Named Heroes rushed past Leon and leapt straight down into the passage leading below.
