The Ruined World Was Mistaken for a Game
Chapter 306: War of Liberation (5)
Translator: Dreamscribe
The Satellite Weapon heated up, its surface heaving and buckling.
One look was enough to tell that it was on the verge of exploding.
There was no time to waste.
Jinwoo emerged onto the surface of the Satellite Weapon together with the Heroes. Once they reached the surface, the Heroes were confronted with an unbelievable sight.
RRRRUMBLE! KRAAAAAASH!
The enormous shell surrounding the Satellite Weapon was torn away and hurled into the air. Waves of energy like crimson lightning erupted like solar flares, blasting the shell away.
The Satellite Weapon was running out of control.
Everyone instinctively knew that its rampage would end in one spectacular explosion. It was the kind of ending anyone could predict.
“We need to get out of here…!”
“Where’s the escape craft?”
The Heroes frantically searched for an escape craft.
[It’s heading there now!]
The operator contacted the Heroes near the escape craft and ordered them to carry out the rescue. There normally would have been no need to rescue the Heroes since they revived even if they died, but Leon was here!
The escape craft flew toward them, only to be swept up by a chunk of torn-away crust and explode on the spot.
[Th-The escape craft’s signal has disappeared! It seems to have been caught in the explosion.]
The Heroes’ faces went white when they heard the news.
They moved closer to Jinwoo and looked at him with faces full of worry.
‘Things did get a little complicated.’
It would have been best if they could board the escape craft, but it did not really matter if they could not.
All Jinwoo had to do was pull out the Holy Sword right before the Satellite Weapon exploded and move everyone here to the Great Gate with him.
Everyone’s wishes gathered together and transformed into the light of the Holy Sword, bringing forth a miracle! It was a little contrived, but there would be no problem if he added a setup like that.
That blazing Great Gate was going to be the final battlefield of Episode 6. It perfectly created the atmosphere of the world being on the verge of destruction.
‘Since it’s come to this, should I mess with them a little more?’
Jinwoo thought that and nodded.
It seemed like it might be fun to watch until things got right down to the wire. It absolutely was not because he wanted to see those desperate expressions on the Heroes’ faces.
“Heh heh! I can simply escape with White Magic.”
Despite Jinwoo’s optimistic words, the Heroes floundered in panic, having no idea what to do.
“Fuck! Send any escape craft you can, now!”
“What about a ship?”
“I think that’ll take too long….”
“This is insane!”
They were practically in a state of panic.
Some Heroes were even crying. Seeing that, Jinwoo felt guilt welling up inside him.
‘Maybe this is a bit much….’
It seemed best to stop here.
Just as Jinwoo thought that, something happened.
‘Hm?’
He sensed something.
It was a light approaching from far away.
It was a tidal wave of countless emotions.
It was a strange sensation that filled his body, mind, and soul to the brim. Jinwoo could feel the sensation Ella had told him about.
“What is this?”
“Something….”
“Huh?”
The Heroes must have sensed the strange feeling as well, because they began looking around. The sensation of having their souls shaken sharpened every sense in their bodies.
[Something incredible is happening!]
A transmission came from Ella.
Jinwoo felt an immense power continuing to build. It was an overwhelmingly vast flow, powerful enough that he could barely control his own body.
Jinwoo closed his eyes and focused on the flow.
It was coming from far away.
And it was not coming from just one place. It surged toward Jinwoo and Arsilan from several directions at once, like flowing rivers converging together.
‘The Dimensional Realm…?’
Something was happening in the southern region of the Dimensional Realm.
***
The Dimensional People from the dimensions liberated by the Heroes raised their heads and looked up at the sky. A gigantic Information Window displayed the final battle of Episode 6.
Jinwoo wanted the Dimensional People to see the Heroes.
He wanted them to understand that the Heroes who had saved Arsilan were now striving to save the Dimensional Realm. And he wanted them to share common emotions and memories with Arsilan, then move forward into a higher dimension together. That was why he had borrowed the somewhat contrived setup of ‘God’s Miracle’ to broadcast the battle to everyone.
More than five thousand dimensions all differed in culture and race, but as they watched the Heroes fight desperately, their hearts became one.
‘I hope Arsilan wins.’
‘I want to help.’
‘I want to lend them strength, just as they saved us.’
‘I want to return the light of hope they shared with us.’
Such wishes arose in everyone’s hearts.
There were warriors capable of fighting who had gone to war alongside the Heroes. There were warriors who had recovered with the Heroes’ help, and there were young warriors who had become warriors themselves after watching the Heroes.
The Lukorians, who lived in a dimension made of water, rose above the surface, clasped their hands together, and sang. The Taronians, a race of stone, stretched out both hands and swore to dedicate their bodies and souls to the Heroes’ victory.
The Erkans, who loved forests and trees, sent flower petals drifting away on the wind. In every dimension throughout the southern region of the Dimensional Realm, people cheered for the Heroes and wished to stand together with them.
When Arsilan’s warships were engulfed in flames and the Satellite Weapon looked ready to explode, everyone’s hearts filled with desperate longing.
‘O God of Arsilan, who sent us these radiant Heroes.’
‘Please accept our prayers.’
‘Let our souls become strength for the Heroes.’
The Dimensional People called upon the God of Arsilan and prayed with all their wishes. The wishes and emotions flowing out of the southern region of the Dimensional Realm became rivers, converged into a sea, and poured down toward Arsilan.
Arsilan could not accept that entire flow.
It was simply too vast. To bear that flow, Arsilan had to grow.
Ella and Helby stood atop the Soul Moon, staring blankly at the enormous current surging toward them.
It looked as if Arsilan’s boundary itself would be torn apart and dimensional rifts would form, but nothing of the sort happened. Instead, the black expanse of space became dyed in countless colors and rippled beautifully.
Just what in the world was happening?
Even Ella and Helby had never witnessed such a phenomenon before.
When the enormous flow reached Arsilan, it became light laden with tremendous energy. The light spread throughout all of Arsilan before seeping into the Soul Moon.
The Heroes and Arsilanians in Arsilan all raised their heads and gazed at the beautiful light. The sensation felt as though they were seeing it not with their eyes, but with their souls, and it was utterly intoxicating.
A sense of fulfillment in the soul that could not even be compared to something like dopamine sent thrills through their entire bodies.
“W-Well, I don’t know what this is, but….”
“It feels great!”
“Waaaaaaah!”
The Heroes and Arsilanians shouted.
Cheers engulfed all of Arsilan.
Something was about to happen.
It was something so enormous that it could not even be compared to anything that had ever happened in Arsilan before. Sensing that, Ella contacted Jinwoo.
“Something’s coming! Something huge….”
[I can see it from here too. It’s coming from the dimensions the Heroes liberated.]
Helby extended a hand and brought up an Information Window.
The situation in the southern region of the Dimensional Realm appeared on the Information Window in the form of a map. Each of the dimensions the Heroes had liberated shone with light, positioned like stars.
A round boundary surrounded each dimension, and light flowed out from within, becoming a Milky Way that crossed over the Wall of the Abyss and headed toward Arsilan. It also looked like a waterfall made of starlight pouring down toward Arsilan.
Ella and Helby stared blankly at the sight. Something was happening simultaneously across all those dimensions.
Before long, they understood what was happening.
“The boundaries of the dimensions….”
“They’re disappearing.”
The dimensional boundaries that had surrounded each dimension in a spherical shape transformed into light and vanished. Every dimension in the southern region was changing the same way.
The dimensions whose boundaries had disappeared passed through the Wall of the Abyss and descended, downward, farther and farther. When they drew close to Arsilan, light erupted from each dimension as they began merging with Arsilan’s boundary.
“Ah….”
“This is….”
The dimensions were merging with Arsilan.
The Kalsus Dimensional Empire forcibly destroyed dimensions and annexed them, but Arsilan was different.
The wishes of the Dimensional People, their desire to help Arsilan, and the souls longing to advance toward the light brought about a miracle. Every dimension was willingly becoming one with Arsilan of its own accord.
FWOOOSH!
Planets appeared in the distance.
Countless stars and planets appeared within Arsilan’s boundary, and Arsilan began expanding at a tremendous rate. The dimensions of the southern region were becoming part of Arsilan.
Ella watched the sight with a radiant smile.
Helby also smiled and nodded.
Ella held out a hand, and Helby took it.
When they raised their clasped hands, light burst from Arsilan’s brilliant sun and blessed the stars and planets that had become part of Arsilan.
The energy pouring out from the dimensions that had become one settled into the Soul Moon. The Soul Moon grew larger and larger until it loomed as huge as the sun itself.
It left Arsilan’s orbit and began heading toward the center of the now-enlarged Dimensional Realm.
The more dimensions became one with Arsilan, the more explosively the power within the Soul Moon increased.
Authority, Sacred Power, and Mana filled the Soul Moon to the brim and continued to amplify. Multicolored light poured out, beautifully illuminating Arsilan, which had now become an enormous dimension. It seemed that it should no longer be called the Soul Moon, but the Soul Sun.
The prayers of the Dimensional People, those who had now become Arsilanians, could be heard. Those prayers must have reached Jinwoo, the Lord God of Arsilan.
And the Heroes sensed them faintly as well.
“This is insane.”
“Haaah….”
“I’m speechless.”
“What even is this scale….”
Everyone who witnessed the dimensions becoming one with Arsilan could only stand there in a daze.
It was an utterly mesmerizing sight.
It was such an overwhelming experience that they felt glad simply to be alive to witness it.
All hail the Creator God!
All they could think was, All hail the Creator God.
***
Jinwoo and the Heroes were also able to witness the changes in the Dimensional Realm from where they stood. It was such a majestic sight that even the battle came to a temporary halt.
The liberated dimensions became one with Arsilan and formed a star cluster. And at its center sat a new, brilliantly shining light.
It was the Soul Sun, the evolved form of the Soul Moon.
“The dimensions….”
“They merged with Arsilan?”
“Holy shit….”
The spectacle was insane enough to make them forget they were in the middle of a war.
Jinwoo listened to the prayers surging toward him. Everyone wanted to help the Heroes. They wanted to offer up their lives and souls to this enormous war, where countless deaths awaited them.
For those people, this was reality, not a staged spectacle. That was why they prayed with such resolve.
Their hearts were truly beautiful.
To sincerely care for one another.
It seemed like such a simple act, yet perhaps it was a sacred miracle some might never experience even once in their lives. The emotion stirred by the sight of Arsilan and the dimensions becoming one lingered for a long time.
Jinwoo gave himself plenty of time to take in that emotion.
Even the Satellite Weapon, which had seemed ready to explode, quieted down for a brief moment.
Jinwoo let out a deep breath and composed himself.
All those countless people who had joined Arsilan wished and wished again. They were praying that they wanted to help the Heroes who had liberated their dimensions and given them freedom and hope.
Answering prayers like those was his role as the Lord God of Arsilan.
‘In that case….’
Jinwoo scrapped all of his planned staging and changed the plan on the spot.
It seemed like it would be far more dramatic and entertaining than his original staging. He decided they might as well enjoy this together with everyone who had joined Arsilan.
He brought out Gord’s Legion’s elite forces early to set up the climax.
[We’ve detected a spatial anomaly near the Great Gate. Th-This is…, something’s coming!]
The Heroes standing on the surface of the Satellite Weapon raised their heads and looked toward the Great Gate. Space warped behind the Great Gate, and a massive fleet appeared.
“That’s….”
“General Gord’s main force?”
“There’s a shitload of them.”
The fleets they had fought until now seemed like mere scouting parties by comparison. General Gord’s main force filled the space around the Great Gate and radiated an ominous crimson glow.
Against those overwhelming numbers, Arsilan’s fleet looked pitifully small. But that was no reason to retreat. NorthernGrandDuke, who was in command, would never give the order to retreat. Every Hero thought the same.
GRRRRRUMBLE!
The Satellite Weapon twisted violently, and an earthquake struck.
It seemed ready to explode at any moment.
The Heroes around Jinwoo could not decide what to do. There was no hope of reinforcements in a situation like this. At this rate, Leon was going to lose his life along with the Satellite Weapon.
-We have to get out somehow!
-Find more ships!
-What about a Hero’s Flower?
-It doesn’t work here!
Even the communications sounded desperate.
At the moment the situation reached its peak, Jinwoo set his new scene in motion.
[Huh? A high concentration of dimensional energy has been detected!]
The Heroes’ ears perked up.
There was more?
Could even more legions be crossing over from the Kalsus Dimensional Empire?
[The location is…, around the Satellite Weapon and our fleet’s formation!]
The operator shouted urgently.
Whatever it was, they had to prepare for it. The Heroes with Jinwoo tensed and looked around.
SWISH!
Space rippled, and a dimensional rift formed. The dimensional rift gradually widened and took the shape of a massive doorway. The blue-shimmering interior burst with light as though a door had swung open.
“Uh…?”
“Whoa….”
The Heroes stared at the dimensional rift, unable to continue speaking.
Ships made of wood emerged through the dimensional rift. There were rough-hewn ships, ships made of water, and even ships engulfed in flames.
“Lukor, Erka, Taron….”
“Malex, Heron, and Malut are here too!”
The Heroes immediately recognized where those ships had come from.
They had come from the dimensions the Heroes had liberated.
Those who had now become part of Arsilan had crossed through dimensional rifts and arrived on this battlefield to support the Heroes.
[R-Reinforcements confirmed! Th-There are an incredible number of them! Th-They’re still coming through!]
Countless ships appeared on Arsilan’s fleet’s side and joined its formation. Their combat capabilities were low and many of the vessels looked crude, but their sheer numbers far exceeded those of the Kalsus Dimensional Empire.
[To the Heroes of Arsilan. We have come.]
[It’s time to repay our debt.]
[We will stand with you until the very end!]
Communications came through in several different languages.
“RAAAH!”
“That’s what I’m talking about!”
“WAAAAAAAH!”
It was electrifying.
The days they had spent together returned to them as a radiant miracle.
All the Heroes roared and reveled in the exhilaration.
A ship made of solid wood descended in front of Jinwoo and the Heroes. The ship’s doors opened, and Lukorian warriors waved toward Jinwoo and the Heroes.
“Everyone! Hurry aboard! It’s about to explode!”
At the Lukorian warrior’s shout, the Heroes looked at one another, nodded, and began running toward the ship. Jinwoo also smiled and ran alongside the Heroes.
The final stage of Episode 6 became filled with joy.
