The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao
Chapter 430: Get Back Here
After passing through the bustling food street, the group followed a small path to the back of a row of buildings. They arrived at an abandoned structure with a rusty iron gate that creaked loudly. The entire area was cluttered with piles of trash, sand, and gravel.
Chen Erbao glanced around. Seeing that it was a good place for a fight, he finally stopped walking.
Seven or eight thugs from the sports team followed them. Wang Wenzheng sneered, glanced at the surroundings, and said to Chen Erbao:
“You’re pretty good at picking places, kid. Afraid of people seeing you get humiliated?”
“Something like that.”
Chen Erbao replied dismissively.
He really didn’t want to fight. It was just pointless. He couldn’t risk getting serious, so he’d have to control his strength and just humor them.
If he hadn’t been worried about the crowds back on the food street, he would have already laid these guys out flat. But if he got too rough, they would just cause trouble for Lin Rui at school later.
Wang Wenzheng clearly didn’t understand Chen Erbao’s intentions. He thought Chen Erbao had chickened out and sneered,
“Get on your knees and kowtow right now. Call me ‘Grandpa’ twice, and you can get lost. And don’t ever show your face at Binhai University again. If I see you, I’ll beat you. Every single time.”
“…”
Chen Erbao rolled his eyes in resignation. He was just about to get this over with quickly when he saw two more people arrive.
One was a girl in a schoolgirl uniform, the other a woman in a red dress.
‘Dongfang Yuqing?’
‘What are they doing here?’
Seeing them, Chen Erbao decided not to act just yet. He folded his arms and stood his ground, saying nothing.
Wang Wenzheng noticed Dongfang Yuqing’s arrival as well, frowning in her direction.
“Boss, what is Dongfang Yuqing doing here?”
“How the fuck should I know…”
Wang Wenzheng knew Dongfang Yuqing came from an influential family. After a moment’s thought, he decided to greet her.
“Senior Sister Dongfang, can we help you with something?”
Dongfang Yuqing shook her head.
“Don’t mind me. I’m just looking around.”
“…”
Wang Wenzheng couldn’t figure out what she was up to. He frowned and said to his men,
“Ignore them. This has nothing to do with us.”
He turned back to Chen Erbao, his expression turning cold.
“I made myself clear. Kneel now, and you can walk away from this.”
Chen Erbao glanced at Dongfang Yuqing in the distance before replying,
“You talk way too much. I’m curious, who sent you? Was it Zhou Chongming?”
‘This Wang Wenzheng is obviously here just to start trouble,’ Chen Erbao thought. ‘I just got to Binhai University and haven’t pissed anyone off yet. Zhou Chongming is the only one with a motive.’
‘The mastermind is obvious.’
Of course, Wang Wenzheng wasn’t about to admit it. He spat on the ground.
“Enough of your bullshit! Are you gonna kneel or not?!”
He kicked apart a nearby stack of wooden planks, then grabbed a piece of the broken board and advanced on Chen Erbao.
Chen Erbao motioned for Lin Rui to step back, then leisurely rolled up the sleeves of his windbreaker. A fight was about to erupt.
From a distance, Dongfang Yuqing watched with great interest, a faint smile playing on her lips.
The girl in the schoolgirl uniform seemed a little worried.
“Sister Qingqing, why did we come here to watch them fight?”
“That punk offended me. I’m going to wait until he’s taken a beating, then I’ll step in and stop them. He’ll have to apologize to me then, and we’ll see if he’s still so cocky!”
“Ooh, Sister Qingqing, you’re so wicked…”
The baby-faced girl in the uniform giggled.
“It’s not like I ordered them to jump him. He brought this on himself. When I step in to save the day, he’ll have to be grateful, won’t he…”
Dongfang Yuqing was halfway through her sentence when she suddenly froze. Her bright red lips gradually parted as she stared at the scene in the distance.
She watched as Wang Wenzheng, plank in hand, walked up to Chen Erbao and raised it to smash his face. But Chen Erbao’s right hand whipped out, striking him with enough force to send him flying through the air before he crashed heavily onto the ground.
Dongfang Yuqing and the girl in the uniform froze. Wang Wenzheng’s goons were stunned, too.
What just happened was beyond anyone’s expectations.
No one could have imagined that the arrogant and overbearing Wang Wenzheng would be defeated so quickly!
Only Lin Rui was clapping and grinning on the sidelines.
“Brother Er Bao, you’re amazing! Go, go, go!”
Wang Wenzheng’s face was beet red. He lay on the ground, clutching his stomach, taking a long moment before he could finally stagger to his feet. His eyes were practically shooting fire.
“You son of a bitch! Get him! Kill him!”
Hearing their boss’s order, the goons let out a roar and charged at Chen Erbao.
It had to be said, the sight of seven or eight burly men, all nearly six feet tall, charging at once was an intimidating spectacle.
But it was a shame…
Chen Erbao didn’t even bother to look. A few casual kicks—his foolproof front kick—and three seconds later, all seven or eight of them were on the ground, groaning in pain.
Chen Erbao sighed. ‘So boring.’
‘It’s like fighting children. No challenge at all.’
“Th-that was so badass!”
“So cool! So cool!”
Hearts practically popped out of the schoolgirl-uniformed girl’s eyes. She stared at Chen Erbao with pure adoration.
“Sister Qingqing, he’s so amazing! And so cool…”
Dongfang Yuqing was also dumbstruck. Her plan had been to let Chen Erbao take a beating before she personally intervened, making him indebted to her. But now…
She was just part of the audience.
“Hmph. So what if he can fight? He can take on ten guys, but can he take on a hundred?”
Dongfang Yuqing said stubbornly.
And just as she predicted, Wang Wenzheng felt a chill of fear seeing all his goons on the ground. However, years of ingrained arrogance allowed him to quickly suppress his terror. He whipped out his phone and started making a call.
“You’ve got guts! Just you wait right here!”
He snarled, then started calling for backup.
“Get your asses over here! I’m getting beat up by some off-campus loser… behind the food street…”
Chen Erbao frowned. ‘This is never going to end!’
‘It’s not that I’m scared, but I can’t just waste my time here.’
‘If I just walk away, they’ll definitely go after Lin Rui later.’
After a moment of thought, Chen Erbao took out his own phone and dialed a number he had called before.
“Hello, this is Chen Erbao… That’s right, President Xiao is a friend of mine. Here’s the situation…”
He quickly explained the situation, and the person on the other end replied swiftly:
“Mr. Chen, rest assured, we’ll take care of it immediately. I’m very sorry that something like this is happening at our school…”
Chen Erbao exchanged a few more words, then hung up and took Lin Rui’s arm, preparing to leave.
“Thinking of leaving? You take one more step, and your little girlfriend can forget about ever attending this university again!”
Wang Wenzheng, thinking Chen Erbao was scared, threatened him coldly.
Chen Erbao glanced at him, mulling over whether he should plant a ‘time bomb’ in the guy, just to keep this scumbag from harassing Lin Rui in the future.
Wang Wenzheng forced himself to meet Chen Erbao’s gaze. A moment later, his phone rang.
He thought it was his backup arriving. But when he pulled out his phone, he saw the call was from his father.
“Dad…”
“You little bastard! Who the hell did you provoke at school? I just got a call from President Xiao of Medicine King Hall himself!”
“What? I didn’t…”
“Didn’t my ass! You get yourself home right now!”
BEEP BEEP BEEP…
Wang Wenzheng stood there, dumbfounded. Staring at the disconnected call on his phone, he finally realized he had just kicked a steel plate. His face turned a ghastly shade of green, a truly ugly sight to behold.
