The Rogue Villager Chen Erbao
Chapter 141: You Dare Harm My Father-in-Law
Fang Yi held his breath, his focus absolute. He gently held the end of the needle between his thumb and forefinger. The sharp tip instantly pierced Zhao Feng's skin. Under his precise control, the needle plunged nearly ten centimeters deep!
His fingers applied a slight pressure as he channeled the unique Mental Method of the Ghost Gate Thirteen Needles. Then, he gently twisted the needle, stimulating Zhao Feng's consciousness.
Chen Erbao stood by the windowsill, watching this scene unfold, silently counting the seconds in his mind.
Zhao Ruoying, however, watched Fang Yi's treatment with a face full of terror. She had a gut feeling that what Chen Erbao had just said was true!
'My uncle might die!'
Time ticked by, second by second. Chen Erbao's fingers tapped incessantly on the windowsill. At a certain moment, he abruptly stopped and turned to look.
"COUGH COUGH…"
"Dad, you're awake?"
"Dad…"
"Old Zhao!"
A series of coughs echoed through the room. Beside the hospital bed, the Zhao sisters and Han Yi were so excited they were on the verge of tears. One by one, they rushed forward, their faces beaming with joy.
Song Rui smiled too.
But his was a triumphant, arrogant smile. His eyes were filled with cruelty, seeming to reflect the wonderful life he envisioned for his future!
His gaze swept over the equally curvaceous Zhao Xiang'er and, in the distance, the emotional Zhao Ruoying. In his mind, he was already picturing the scene of forcing these two women beneath him and ravishing them at his leisure.
Zhao Feng had handsome, well-defined features, but prolonged time in bed had left him looking gaunt and haggard. He struggled to open his mouth, his voice trembling.
"Where am I…"
"Dad, you've been in a coma for three days! This is Divine Doctor Fang, whom I invited from the Capital City. He's the one who cured you!"
Song Rui stepped forward at the perfect moment to claim credit, putting on the air of a dutiful son-in-law.
Zhao Qi chimed in as well:
"That's right, Dad. A Rui has been worried sick about you!"
"Ruoying found some village doctor from who-knows-where. He's not even as old as me, yet he had the audacity to claim he could cure you!"
Zhao Qi never missed an opportunity to take a jab at Zhao Ruoying.
"..."
Zhao Feng nodded, his gaze falling on Zhao Xiang'er and Han Yi. Just as he was about to speak, his face suddenly darkened. An intense pain shot through his head, and he abruptly spewed a mouthful of blood, staining the blankets red.
"PTOO!"
The next moment, he fell back stiffly onto the bed and lapsed into a coma once again.
"???"
This sudden turn of events stunned everyone present.
Only Chen Erbao and Song Rui had anticipated this.
"Dad!"
"Dad, what's wrong…"
"Divine Doctor Fang, what's happening?"
Song Rui also stood up, glaring at Fang Yi and demanding an answer.
Flustered, Fang Yi rushed forward to take his pulse.
The surrounding medical instruments began beeping frantically, indicating that Zhao Feng's life was fading rapidly.
Fang Yi's face turned ashen. He cried out in shock:
"This is impossible, impossible…"
Han Yi grabbed his arm, frantic with panic.
"Divine Doctor Fang, hurry up and treat him! What's going on…"
But Fang Yi was already a wreck. He collapsed onto a stool, muttering "impossible" over and over again.
The room instantly devolved into chaos, with shouts of alarm and cries of anguish rising and falling.
Zhao Ruoying gripped Chen Erbao's arm tightly:
"Er Bao, you must have a way…"
Her eyes welled with tears as she looked at Chen Erbao imploringly.
Chen Erbao sighed.
"Don't worry. I'm here."
His voice wasn't loud, but it stirred something deep within her.
It was just like that afternoon on the cliffs of Bailong Mountain, when Chen Erbao had held her by the waist and gently comforted her, saying, "It's okay. I'm here!"
Chen Erbao helped her to the bedside. Looking at the chaotic, crying crowd, he let out a deep, angry shout:
"All of you, shut up!"
His voice boomed like thunder, and the room instantly fell silent.
The two Zhao sisters were a crying mess, Han Yi was on the verge of fainting, and Song Rui looked utterly astonished.
All eyes turned to him once more.
"A quack brings only harm. I'll only show you once, so watch carefully!"
Chen Erbao shoved Fang Yi aside, grabbed the acupuncture needles nearby, and plunged one into the top of Zhao Feng's head.
"You…"
Song Rui was about to intervene, but it was too late. Chen Erbao's hands became a blur in mid-air. In just a few seconds, more than thirty Silver Needles had been placed all over Zhao Feng's head.
"What are you doing!"
Zhao Qi was the first to explode in anger, pointing at Chen Erbao and shouting.
Song Rui's eyes were cold as ice.
"You little bastard, how dare you harm my father-in-law!"
He spoke as he lunged forward.
But Zhao Ruoying was prepared. With a light block of her arm, she pushed Song Rui away.
"Brother-in-law, you should just stand aside and watch. I was the one who brought Chen Erbao here. If anything happens, I'll take full responsibility."
She shook her fist, her meaning perfectly clear: anyone who dared get close would get a beating.
Seething but not daring to speak, Song Rui and Zhao Qi both turned their gazes to Han Yi.
"Mom, you have to stop him! What if Dad…"
"Shut up!"
Chen Erbao barked again. He shot them a look and pointed at the monitor nearby.
"Could things possibly get any worse than this? His heart rate is about to drop to zero, can't you see?"
The two nurses at the side were also staring anxiously at the monitor.
"Mr. Zhao's vital signs are about to disappear…"
At these words, Han Yi's body went limp, and she collapsed onto a stool.
In a hospital emergency room, a statement like that was basically a declaration of death.
"Dr. Chen, I'm begging you, please save my husband…"
She had completely broken down. Crying, she pleaded with Chen Erbao, even looking as if she was about to kneel.
Zhao Ruoying quickly steadied her.
"Aunty, don't worry. If Chen Erbao dares to act, it's because he's confident."
Chen Erbao also felt a warmth spread through his heart.
There weren't many women who would trust him so unconditionally, especially at such a critical moment.
"Rest assured. If it were anyone else, Mr. Zhao would be beyond saving. But with me here, he won't die."
Chen Erbao shot Song Rui a meaningful look.
"Isn't that right, Mr. Song?"
Song Rui's expression flickered for a moment, but he quickly returned to normal and even started comforting Han Yi.
"Mom, things are already at this point. Why not let this Dr. Chen give it a try? Maybe there's still a chance."
"Mr. Chen, please hurry and treat him…"
Chen Erbao curled his lip. 'This bastard, he's a damn good actor!'
He didn't have time to deal with him right now. He channeled Spiritual Qi with both hands, then rapidly began to flick the thirty-odd Silver Needles.
At once, all the Silver Needles began to tremble in unison. Wisps of Spiritual Qi traveled down the needles into the brain, where they began to break down and absorb the residual Spiritual Power within.
The dark pallor of Zhao Feng's face gradually gave way to a healthy, ruddy color.
"Dad's color…"
Zhao Xiang'er noticed this and excitedly grabbed Han Yi's arm. Her large eyes were fixed on Chen Erbao, full of hope that he would perform a miracle.
Zhao Ruoying's eyes also lit up with a peculiar brilliance, and her heart fluttered.
"Mr. Zhao's vital signs are stabilizing…" a nurse promptly reported from the side.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief—everyone except Song Rui.
He secretly clenched his jaw, his fists tightening as he glared at Chen Erbao with resentment.
Chen Erbao remained completely focused on controlling the Silver Needles and slowly absorbing the Spiritual Power. In just a few short minutes, his forehead was beaded with sweat, and even the shirt on his back was soaked through.
