Chapter 943: A Chat with the Boss

The result was as Higo expected.

The antigen swab test showed that he was negative for the virus, something that Higo had already known since the beginning.

After all, even though he ate quite a lot back home, the boy still maintained some physical conditioning training, and coupled with his time climbing Mount Hakodate, he felt healthier than ever.

Hell, he didn’t even consider that the virus didn’t really care about all of that. No, this COVID-19 could attack even the healthiest person on earth without showing any signs, which was the scariest part of the virus.

Fortunately, the confidence helped ease his mind, and the moment the result was out, he couldn’t help but let out a relieved sigh.

"Well, the PCR test would be released two days later, but that would only be for the team’s requirement. Don’t think too much about it." Guzman waved nonchalantly while enjoying the action figure that Higo brought from back home.

Once again, Higo just tried his best to get as far away from the man as possible, not wanting to get associated with that lecherous doctor.

After the test was over, though, that didn’t mean he was allowed to go back home. No, there was still a physical checkup to make sure that his state wouldn’t decline too much during the break.

He did some physical tests while also being strapped to so much high-tech equipment, once again being forced to remember what it felt like to be a guinea pig.

This lasted for a while, and the fortunate part was that Higo didn’t feel any exhaustion in the process, which was a good sign that his physical state should be quite excellent right now.

Guzman also gave a nod of approval here, finding the result to be better than what he thought.

"You gained some weight, but still within the normal range for a player who has just gone for a Christmas break. Other than that, your fat percentage doesn’t change that much; your body is in the best state, and you are more than ready to play. Good job maintaining your discipline. Bring this result to the Boss in his room, okay?"

Higo received the paper which showed the result of his test, and without even waiting for a second more, he went straight to Frohling’s office and knocked on the door.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

It took a few seconds before someone shouted, "YES, COME IN!"

The moment Higo came in, Frohling’s gaze warmed instantly, and he stood from his seat before offering a hug to probably his favorite player on the team.

"Higo! It’s good to see you again!" The man smiled. "So, how is your family? Doing great?"

"Yeah, thanks for asking, Sensei." Higo returned the smile while also digging something out of his bag. "Here, a gift from the family. A box of castella and dried octopus for snacks. Cannot bring too much to the airport, you know?" He shrugged.

However, Frohling’s eyes lit instantly, not even caring that it was just a simple snack. No, the most important thing was the gesture here, as this was the first time he received something from his player.

"Well, thanks! I’ll make sure that everyone gets a fair share of it." He accepted the gift and saved it on his desk. "Anyway, is there anything I could help you with?"

Higo didn’t say a single word, just giving the report of his physical state to the man while also taking a seat there.

Frohling frowned for a second before the smile widened once again.

"Good God. Your result is the best one I’ve seen so far from people who came back after having a break, and you are a goalkeeper! They should be ashamed of themselves, honestly!"

Higo couldn’t help but snort when he heard that. It seemed that the coach was having a big headache, having to deal with so many troublemakers who forgot about his instructions during the break.

Well, not that this was the first time. It had already happened so many times, as it seemed that the coach had failed to instill respect in him so far, making some players not take his instructions seriously.

"Just make sure that you don’t drag me into the punishment, okay, Sensei?" He asked in a joking tone.

"Hah! As if!" Frohling snorted. "Those whose condition is good enough, like you, Morita, Omar, and Hoppe, will never be included in that list, I swear!"

Speaking of the last name, though, the coach’s gaze softened, turning into a fond one. It seemed that during this break, the striker had left a good impression, making the boss fall in love with him more as the number one option on the frontline.

"He is that good? Hoppe, I mean?" Higo couldn’t help but ask, feeling curious.

Well, how could he not, when the only moment he witnessed the boy’s craziness was from afar in the last game.

Yeah, sometimes, people forgot that with the hat-trick he put on against Hoffenheim, the game was also Hoppe’s debut in the first team. Before, he was just a normal striker in the second team, never having a chance to showcase his talent in the Bundesliga.

Hell, the only reason he managed to emerge was Paciencia’s stupid injury. If not, the boy’s talent would be buried deep, with no one being able to discover his potential at all.

So, yeah, after witnessing the boy going crazy in the last game, Higo couldn’t help but feel curious, wondering what level the boy currently was compared to any other beastly striker that he faced in the past, like Lewandowski or Erling Haaland.

"Good, huh? How should I put it?" Frohling tapped his chin with his eyes closed, pondering Higo’s question for a second.

However, in the next second, a mischievous smile formed on the coach’s face as he said, "In fact, I really cannot wait to see how he would fare against you, Higo. If that happened in the next training session, make sure you don’t hold back, okay?"

In return, Higo just let out a little snort here.

"Holding back? That phrase has never existed in my dictionary, you know that, right, Sensei?"
