The Rise of the Iron Wall!
Chapter 942: Berger Feld Once Again
Well, just like how he went back home with Kumiko a week ago, the journey back to Gelsenkirchen took a long time, around 22 hours on the road.
He had to go to Tokyo first, waiting for so many hours before it was time to fly to Düsseldorf, and in the process, the boy had to transit for three hours in Dubai first, making the whole journey way more exhausting than necessary.
Not only that, though, right after he landed in Düsseldorf, the boy still had to continue the journey by train to Gelsenkirchen, and after that he had to walk back to his own flat alone, finding everything to be dark and cold in his own place while it should be a festive Christmas right now.
"Yeah, what can I expect here? Of course, everything will be quiet..." He couldn’t help but smile wryly, putting down the bag and luggage that he carried before letting his body fall onto the bed.
The boy didn’t forget to check his phone first, chatting with several people separately.
You: Have just arrived. Too tired to call; just wait until tomorrow.
It wasn’t just an exaggeration. No, after such a long trip, the boy felt like his bones had melted, unable to support his body right now.
Fortunately, he didn’t have any trouble sleeping. The moment the boy smelled the pillow, his consciousness slipped, and only the sound of the alarm on his phone ringing loudly managed to wake him up the next day.
"Urgh... Fuck... How long have I been asleep?" He couldn’t help but groan, his throat feeling uncomfortable after sleeping for too long. "11:00? It has been 13 hours?" He narrowed his eyes, trying to process everything inside his head right now.
He checked the messages section, and so many people had already sent one or two there.
Kumiko-chan: Good job! Just take it slow, and don’t forget to eat first!
Mom: Send me a photo just to make sure everything is okay!
Ayaka: Nice. Don’t forget to tell Mom and Kumiko-chan as well.
Frohling: Once you are good enough, go to the medical team for the test
....
Well, after the first four, Higo just scrolled through the whole section without batting an eye before finally shutting his phone and throwing it onto the bed.
Still, his mind lingered on one message, which was from Frohling. After all, the instruction was clear here. He had to take a test as quickly as possible to determine whether he would be available for the next game.
As for the test itself, of course, it was the COVID one. After all, once he was infected, the boy would need at least two weeks of quarantine before being able to join the training session, let alone coming to play.
As for what kind of test he would have to take, well, it was two at the same time.
The first one was the antigen swab test, one with the result that would come out in just 15 minutes. This was to ensure that he could join the training session immediately.
As for the second one, it was the PCR swab test, the more accurate one where the result would come out in the next one to three days. This was what the league used as a standard, and without it, the players wouldn’t be allowed to play in the next game.
Taking two at the same time like this was somehow a normal practice, as the club also didn’t want the players to miss too much of training without any good reason.
After taking a photo for his mother and having a quick breakfast with Br?tchen with sunny-side egg and avocado as the feeling, the boy didn’t wait for too long, grabbing his sports bag to go straight to the Berger Feld, the team’s training ground.
Even though he had just come back from a long journey yesterday, Higo himself felt restless, not wanting to stay at his flat for too long.
No, being there alone would only drive him crazy, forcing him to remember everything back home. That would just kill him slowly, so it was better for the boy to do anything else outside.
Once he arrived at the training ground, Higo glanced around, finding that not a lot had changed. Some players had already started the training session, but most were still on their break, enjoying Christmas with their families.
"Oh! Higo, it’s good to see you again!" Rob, one of the security guards, gave a dap when Higo arrived. "How is your break? Good?"
"Yeah, decent, I guess." Higo smiled, accepting the greeting. "How about you? Your family is good?"
"Oh, definitely! My wife keeps bothering me for a photo with you!" The man laughed.
"Well, invite her here first, okay?"
It wasn’t just that man who greeted the boy. No, almost every staff member, from the janitors to the kitmen, took their time to chat for a moment with Higo.
Yeah, the boy was always famous among the ordinary staff as one of the players who were quite approachable, always greeting everyone without the air of a superstar. That made them all comfortable exchanging words, which also made the boy being so favored in the team.
Once he was in the medical department, Guzman was already there, asking with his usual foolish grinning face.
"So, where is the thing that I asked you for?" He asked impatiently.
Higo rolled his eyes in exasperation, wondering how such a childish adult like the man in front of him had become the head of the medical department here.
Still, he took something out of his bag, and Guzman widened his eyes in shock.
"So, this is the original action figure of Nico Robin coming straight from Shonen Jump? Damn! This is awesome!"
Higo couldn’t help but look at the man, an adult close to 40 years old, hugging an action figure and squealing like a little girl, in disgust. Hell, he even tried to distance himself, not wanting to get associated with the doctor.
"Anyway, enough about that. Let’s start the test, okay?!"
