Chapter 121: Game Night

A few hours after his meeting with Dr. Crew, Liam found himself with his siblings and girlfriend in his apartment’s living room.

The three were trying to decide what to play for game night while the hitman prepared snacks.

"Monopoly," Eli declared, already digging through the cabinet under the TV, "we haven’t played that in forever."

"Absolutely not," Lea said immediately, not even looking up from her phone, "last time you flipped the board because I bought Boardwalk."

Liam looked at the chaos unfold with a smile on his face; he then turned towards Olivia, noticing how relaxed she was as they tried to decide on a game.

Radiance, hero of the city, beloved by thousands, currently arguing with a twelve-year-old about a board game.

"What about cards?" she offered. "That’s a lot simpler."

"Simple is boring," Eli said, abandoning the cabinet in favor of flopping onto the rug. "We need to play something that’ll get us competitive."

"Preferably something you can’t flip again," Lea added, causing Liam to chuckle as he walked out of the kitchen with snacks in hand.

Olivia looked up at him before she created space beside her and patted the couch, wanting him to sit there instead.

The hitman simply set the snacks on the center table before sitting beside her and suggested, "How about we play detective?"

Detective was a simple game; the four would choose cards that would assign them different roles, but one of those random roles would have ’killer’ attached to it.

It is then the task of the one with the detective role to figure out who the killer is among the other three roles.

If they can’t figure it out within a certain amount of time, then the killer wins.

But there was also another role that made the detective’s job a bit harder, and that was the Clown/Decoy role.

Their objective was to get the detective to believe that they were the killer.

The problem with the game was,

"There’s only four of us though," Lea said, finally looking down from her phone.

The game was a lot more fun and a lot harder based on the number of people playing, and with the four of them, it would barely be a challenge to figure out who the killer was.

In response, Liam simply smiled and turned to the door. "They should be here any moment now."

Ding dong!

A moment after his words, the doorbell suddenly rang, confusing the other three. Liam explained nothing, though; instead, he simply stood up and walked towards the door.

Opening it, he realized that there was quite the crowd outside.

Four people to be exact.

Sable, Riley, Raika and Volt.

"I brought drinks," Volt was the first to speak as he lifted the portable cooler in his hand.

"Thank you for inviting me," Raika said, sounding a bit more formal.

But that was mostly due to her learning that Liam had found out Olivia’s identity as Radiance; yet nothing seemed to have changed in their relationship.

She was a lot more relieved than she thought she would be, especially when she recalled how Radiance’s family behaved.

"Don’t worry about it," Liam said, stepping aside to let them in. "Come in."

Tyler was the first to walk in, followed by Riley and Raika, leaving Sable and Liam at the door.

"Seems you made quite the number of friends," The grey market agent observed with a small smile on his face.

"Of course," Liam answered with a cheeky grin, "I’m that charismatic after all."

Sable simply chuckled at the response; he was glad that the kid hadn’t changed one bit, despite the line of work he was into.

He walked past the hitman and into the apartment, joining the rest in the living room.

Liam looked at the hallway, seemingly expecting one last person, but he soon walked back inside, closing the door behind him.

Tyler was already getting comfortable with the snacks on the table; fortunately, Liam had prepared more than enough.

Olivia, on the other hand, had a small pout, but it was not due to four more people being added to their game night.

Rather, it was because Raika was now sitting in the spot she had reserved for Liam.

She couldn’t tell her agent that, because she would just end up being embarrassed, and Raika was more than likely to tease her about it.

So she had no choice but to bear with it for now.

Liam immediately noticed that Olivia was clearly unhappy about something.

He looked at Raika, then at Olivia, before finally noticing the spot Raika was sitting in.

’Oh.’

He immediately understood, and he had to admit, it was a little cute.

"What’s wrong?" he asked, pretending not to know.

"N-nothing," Olivia quickly responded, but her words didn’t sound convincing in the slightest.

With a smile, he picked up a cushion, placed it on the floor and sat there, leaning directly on her legs before looking up at her. "Better?"

"Y-yes," she nodded, a blush appearing on her cheeks.

Raika looked at the interaction before she also noticed what was going on, and just as Olivia had thought, a grin appeared on the agent’s face.

"It seems I have been abandoned for Liam," She said, dramatically placing a hand on her chest. "I’m hurt."

Olivia’s face immediately turned even redder.

"That’s not what happened," she quickly protested.

Raika’s grin only widened. "Oh?

"I—" Olivia glanced down at Liam, who was comfortably resting against her legs with an amused expression.

"Because..." She struggled to come up with an answer.

"Because I’m more comfortable here," Liam answered for her, earning a grateful look from Olivia.

Raika narrowed her eyes slightly. "Is that so?"

"Yep."

"You didn’t just do that because your girlfriend looked sad?"

Olivia, at this point, seemed like she would explode at any moment.

Raika, finally satisfied with how flustered she had gotten Olivia, finally said, "Alright then, shall we get this game started?"

"Yes!" Eli said, his excitement evident in his voice as he went back to the cabinet and retrieving the game, "let the game night, begin!"
