Chapter 48: Chapter 48: Drink a Glass for 98,000

While Cameron sobered up, Rian Sinclair studied him. He had eyes that shone like stars, a tall, straight nose, and tightly pursed, thin lips set against a pale complexion.

After Cameron finished preparing his drink, he stood up. His build wasn’t overly muscular, but it was perfectly proportioned. Just standing there, he exuded a heavy scholarly aura. Yet, he was wearing a seductive, semi-transparent deep-V shirt and sporting a playful pair of animal ears on his head. Combining the vibe of a frail scholar with dance moves that oozed pure seduction—this contrast was executed to absolute perfection.

No wonder the man nearby was still so fixated on him.

Rian Sinclair turned her head, her gaze meeting the man in the adjacent booth. The man was staring unblinkingly in their direction. Upon noticing her looking at him, he merely furrowed his brows slightly without looking away.

Rian Sinclair glanced at Cameron and chuckled softly. "You’re quite charming, Cameron."

Cameron offered a shy smile but didn’t say anything, merely pushing a drink toward her obediently. "Thank you for the tips tonight, Miss."

Feeling the burning stare from the next table, Cameron shifted uncomfortably toward the edge of the sofa, trying to use it to block the man’s line of sight. Rian Sinclair found his little movements rather amusing. The man at the neighboring table was staring with the intensity of a hungry wolf eyeing a little lamb.

Rian Sinclair poured two glasses of alcohol and teased, "Let me buy you a drink."

Hearing this, Cameron’s body stiffened, but after a moment, he reached for the other glass.

But Rian Sinclair stopped him. Pressing her hand over the glass, she smiled as Cameron looked at her nervously. "Just joking."

Cameron let out a sigh of relief, but suddenly, he was yanked upward. Rian Sinclair’s eyes narrowed as she watched the tanned, muscular man scoop Cameron into a half-embrace.

A familiar scent filled Cameron’s nose. He struggled, but it was futile; the arm around his waist only tightened its grip.

Rian Sinclair’s expression darkened. According to the club’s rules, Cameron was supposed to be serving her right now. He was her designated companion, and having him snatched away by someone else did not sit well with her.

Cameron looked at Rian Sinclair apologetically. Since she had given him the most tips, he couldn’t afford to offend her. He immediately used more force to break free. Exasperated, he glared at the man and tried to yell, but because he had downed his drinks too quickly earlier, his voice came out hoarse and surprisingly soft. "Brandon Rhodes, what are you doing!"

Rian Sinclair sat back in her booth, thinking it was quite interesting that these two knew each other. It was free gossip delivered right to her doorstep; it would be a waste not to enjoy the show. But to enjoy the gossip, she had to make sure the subjects didn’t run away.

She pointed to the empty seats beside her. "If you don’t mind, why don’t you two handsome guys sit down and talk? I’d rather not become the center of attention in this bar."

Many people around them were already looking over. They had stopped drinking and dancing, and even the shouting had quieted down. It seemed everyone wanted in on the drama. Sure enough, watching drama was an instinct carved into the bones of every Veridian.

Cameron also noticed the commotion. His ears turned red, and he immediately sat down. But the man beside him remained standing stiffly. Because he was so tall, Cameron couldn’t see where he was looking even when he tilted his head up. Glancing around, Cameron reached out and tugged at the man’s hem. "Sit down first."

The man looked down at the seated Cameron. Cameron had very pale skin, making the alcohol-induced flush on his face extremely prominent. The mix of flushed red and stark white, combined with his upturned face and soft, pleading tone, was arresting. The man gulped and obediently sat down next to him.

Rian Sinclair watched the two of them closely, marveling at the blatant display of public affection. Suddenly, the alcohol in her glass tasted like wax.

Seeing the man finally sit, which reduced the number of staring eyes, Cameron breathed a sigh of relief. However, remembering his current situation, he looked nervously at Rian Sinclair. "I’m so sorry about this."

Rian Sinclair shook her head indifferently. Since she was ready to watch the drama unfold, she had to adopt the proper attitude of a spectator. Unsure of her true stance, Cameron had no choice but to pour her some more wine.

Rian Sinclair was left speechless. Cameron kept pouring her drinks while the tanned man sat quietly beside him. But she wanted to watch the drama!

"Cameron, do you two know each other?" To get any gossip out of a completely silent situation, she had to break the ice first.

Cameron glanced at the man sitting beside him. The moment he turned his head, their eyes met, prompting Cameron to look away immediately. "He just comes here a lot and often gives me tips."

Rian Sinclair rested her chin on her hand and observed the two. It was the classic tale of the Innocent boy working part-time at a bar and his sugar daddy. Looking at the empty shot glasses left on the table, she thought of a fun game and filled them up with alcohol.

Pointing at the table full of drinks, she smiled at Cameron. "Cameron, for every glass you drink, I’ll buy one bottle of the most expensive alcohol in your club. How about it? Want to play?"

Hearing this, Cameron pursed his lips and looked at the glasses. They weren’t as large as beer mugs; each glass could be downed in about two gulps. Staring at the glasses covering the entire table, he hesitated for a moment. He thought of his sick mother hospitalized in the ward and his younger sister who was still in school. Moreover, as an art student, he needed so much money.

The most expensive alcohol in the club was the one that had just been brought over, priced at ninety-eight thousand a bottle. He would earn a zero-point-one percent commission on the sales. The amount of commission he could earn depended entirely on how much he could drink.

Cameron hesitated for only a second before picking up the glasses on the table and downing them one by one.

Rian Sinclair sat beside him with a smile, resting her cheek on her hand as she counted for him. People nearby began to gather around. After all, Cameron was the star dancer of the bar and had quite a few followers, not to mention he was sitting with a stunning beauty. Naturally, the surrounding crowd intentionally or unintentionally kept glancing their way and had overheard the reward—one bottle of premium alcohol purchased for every glass Cameron drank. The crowd even started helping Rian Sinclair count.

By the time Cameron reached his fifteenth glass, his speed slowed down. After all, he had just been forced to drink a whole bottle by Brandon Rhodes. His tolerance hadn’t been good to begin with; it was only after working part-time at the bar that he had slowly built it up.

Rian Sinclair watched Cameron’s flushed cheeks and the rippling moisture in his eyes. Beside him, the man had his hands clenched into fists, staring straight at Cameron without blinking.

"You can drink for him too," Rian Sinclair offered. "The reward of buying a bottle stays exactly the same."

Brandon Rhodes looked up at her and scoffed. "Heh. If I drink, I’m afraid I’ll drink you into bankruptcy, Miss."

Rian Sinclair smiled and pushed a glass toward him. "Don’t worry. You could drink yourself to death right here and still wouldn’t bankrupt me."

The surrounding crowd erupted into whistles and murmurs. People muttered about why such a good deal never fell into their laps, while others claimed Rian Sinclair was just talking big. To not only treat someone to free drinks but also give them money—it sounded unbelievable.

Brandon Rhodes looked at Rian Sinclair. She made an inviting gesture. Without any further hesitation, he picked up the drinks on the table and started downing them.

With Brandon joining in, the number of empty glasses on the table rapidly increased. Cameron’s pace had slowed down significantly, so the vast majority of the alcohol ended up in Brandon’s stomach. The onlookers began cheering and jeering. Fewer people were focusing on their own drinks; instead, they all gathered around to see just how much these two could down.

Once all the glasses on the table were completely empty, Brandon Rhodes looked at Rian Sinclair.

She didn’t say a word, simply raising her hand to order more.
