Chapter 183: Chapter 182: The Butcher’s Knife Descends! Ten Billion in Initial Funds

"It’s not like they’re some cheap commodity you can pick up at a supermarket. Unless DJBN is facing a major personnel upheaval or a change in ownership—and even if they were, they wouldn’t give outsiders a chance to strike. They would stabilize their stock immediately," Rose Young said, quickly analyzing Rian Sinclair’s earlier words.

Rian smiled and shook her head, picking up a cup of coffee from a nearby tray and placing it in front of her.

"You really live up to your stellar reputation. You hit the nail right on the head," Rian said. "You’re absolutely right, provided the brand doesn’t do anything to damage its own image and just focuses on running its business peacefully.

"But you can never stop people who are actively digging their own graves. You don’t need to worry about the specifics. All I can say is that I just received some insider information. Someone has gotten their hands on massive, brand-ruining dirt on DJBN.

"This time, this arrogant, self-proclaimed noble brand from Country Y and its core group of utterly rotten executives are going to learn a very painful lesson."

Rian leaned back in her chair, a faint smirk playing on her lips. After all, when it came to brands that insulted Veridia, she would slaughter them one by one, or take them down in pairs. Either way, she would never be the one taking a loss.

Rose was still a bit skeptical. It was truly hard for her to believe that a legacy brand would experience a sudden stock market crash. Such an event would be absolutely explosive in any industry. But since the words came from Rian’s mouth, Rose felt the information was highly likely to be accurate. After all, this young woman possessed an innate aura of absolute authority.

Rose paused for a moment before asking slowly, "Then, Ms. Sinclair, how much of a price drop are we betting on? Their stock hasn’t dipped below thirty-one dollars even once this year."

Hearing Rose’s question, one of the other traders couldn’t help but speak up. "Rose, if this information isn’t accurate, our company won’t make much money, and we’ll be the laughingstock of our rivals. Your reputation will take a massive hit, too."

The man who spoke was one of Rose’s subordinates. Having worked under her for years, he knew her professional capabilities better than anyone. He didn’t want to see her hard-earned reputation ruined over something like this. However, he had let his emotions get the better of him. When their boss issued a direct order, as subordinates, their duty was absolute obedience. He seemed to realize this and quickly swallowed the rest of his words.

Rian sat back in her chair. She was in a good mood right now and didn’t plan on saying much about the trader’s outburst. Instead, she looked straight at Rose. "What do you say?"

Meeting her boss’s gaze, Rose nodded without hesitation. "However you want to play it, Ms. Sinclair. You give the word, and we’ll execute the trades."

Rose didn’t bother responding to her subordinate’s concerns. After all, if the boss wanted to do something, how could they—employees paid to do a job—refuse? To put it bluntly, even if the trade failed, all she would lose was her reputation. Her paycheck wouldn’t shrink, and honestly, how much was a reputation worth in hard cash anyway? As long as she still had her skills, that was all that mattered.

Rian liked Rose’s attitude. Making a hand gesture, she stared directly at her. "Short it until it hits the limit-down in Veridia."

"What!?"

The moment Rian spoke, even the usually unflappable Quentin Sinclair’s expression cracked for a split second. However, after taking out his phone and scrolling for a few seconds, his face returned to its natural calm.

He felt relieved that there was still enough money for the young lady to squander. As long as she was happy, nothing else mattered.

But the others were a completely different story. Rose had originally thought they would short it for a ten-dollar drop, but she never expected they would short it to the absolute bottom limit. An internationally renowned brand, hitting the limit-down in Veridia? Was that even possible? Even if they racked their brains, they couldn’t make sense of it. The very idea sounded like pure fantasy. A dying giant was still a giant. How could such a globally recognized brand possibly crash to the bottom limit in the Veridian market?

Although Rose trusted her boss deeply, she clearly found these words difficult to comprehend. It simply sounded like a pipe dream.

Rose paused for a moment, trying to keep her tone as natural as possible. "Ms. Sinclair, how much are we investing?" She didn’t know where the feeling came from, but she had a strong hunch that her boss was going to bet massive stakes on this. She stared intently at Rian.

"Ten billion," Rian said, her eyes curving into a smile without batting an eyelash.

A collective gasp echoed through the conference room. Unable to maintain their composure any longer, the traders looked at each other in sheer disbelief. After all, that was no small sum of money!

As their representative, Rose naturally couldn’t just stand there in speechless shock. She looked at Rian. "Ms. Sinclair, there’s really no need to play it this big. Isn’t this amount a little excessive?"

Rian frowned. Instead of replying immediately, she turned her head to look at Quentin.

Seeing this, Quentin shook his head. "Miss, ten billion is not a lot."

At first, he had thought the young lady would be playing with tens of billions at a time. He hadn’t expected it to be a mere ten billion. That amount hardly mattered; they could earn it all back in just a few days.

Hearing Quentin’s words, everyone swallowed hard. She was truly... a billionaire genius!

Hearing Special Assistant Sinclair’s remark, Rose felt she had overreacted. After all, the corporation this young woman commanded raked in fortunes on a daily basis. To her, ten billion was probably just pocket change. Rose’s expression stiffened for a moment before her gaze toward Rian grew increasingly gentle. After all, a boss this cool and ridiculously wealthy was hard to come by!

"Ms. Sinclair, just give the word. We’re listening," Rose said.

To the other traders, it seemed like their boss just wanted to play around. And why shouldn’t they play along? After all, she was loaded! If she was in a good mood, she might just casually hand out bonuses. Wouldn’t that just mean more income for them? The man who had spoken up earlier wanted nothing more than to slap himself twice across the face. Who was their boss? A cool, incredibly wealthy beauty! And he had actually dared to second-guess her!

Rian’s lips curled up in a smirk. "Don’t be afraid of losing the ten billion. If I dare to put this much money on the table, it means I have the courage to bear the cost of failure.

"So, I want you to take this ten billion and ruthlessly capitalize on DJBN’s misfortune.

"Remember one thing: be decisive when you strike, and clean when you reel in the net. Our goal is to make DJBN bleed heavily, not to bankrupt them completely.

"Even though we’re shorting them to the absolute bottom in Veridia, a dying behemoth doesn’t just vanish overnight. I’m sure you all understand this principle.

"One percent of the profits will go toward your bonuses, and I’ll even throw in a massive red envelope for each of you on top of that. I hope everyone makes the most of this opportunity."

Rian had never been one to string people along with empty promises. If a problem could be solved by throwing money at it, why bother talking to them about dreams?

Rian’s words sounded absolutely insane to the crowd, but they couldn’t argue with that massive capital! If things really went the way their boss predicted, a tenfold return on ten billion would be a hundred billion. And one percent of a hundred billion was one billion. Divided among them, everyone could walk away with over a hundred million! As wage-earners, the thing they hated most was a boss who preached about dreams.

This was their first time meeting someone like Rian, who just directly smashed them with cold, hard cash—and they were absolutely loving it! Besides, even if things didn’t go the way their boss hoped, they would still get her promised massive red envelopes, even if they missed out on the one-percent cut!
