Chapter 1021 - The End of the Divine War

Han Wu wasted no words on the smug Life God King. Pulling out the jeweled box containing the Source of Destruction, he aimed it squarely at the Life God King.

This left the Life God King confused as to why Han Wu was pulling out a box during a serious battle. That was when he realized the box looked familiar. A few seconds later, his face went blank with recognition.

That was the Destruction Clan’s treasure, the Source of Destruction!

When Gu Feng had first shown him the box during their alliance talks, the elder had bragged about its power, claiming it ignored all ranks and guaranteed death to whoever it hit. It was permanent death and total annihilation. Even the Life God King’s Life Jurisdiction or Resurrection couldn’t save him.

The Life God King hadn’t fully believed Gu Feng at the time. He had assumed the old man was exaggerating to save face. As he stared down the box containing the Source of Destruction, however, he found himself gripped with terror.

“Young Han Wu, let’s talk this through. We can negotiate. There’s no need to bring that thing out,” the Life God King bargained while inwardly cursing every last member of the Destruction Clan. They said that no one outside their clan could use the Source of Destruction, so why was Han Wu holding it?

Han Wu ignored his pleas, set on killing the Life God King first and thinking about everything else later. Activating his Destruction Aspect, he opened the box.

The Source of Destruction fired a beam of divine light that struck the Life God King between the eyes. With that, the Source of Destruction shattered into countless fragments. It had already been on its last legs. Dealing with an existence as powerful as the Life God King had used up all its remaining durability.

The Life God King collapsed, his Life Energy and soul both annihilated in an instant. Without a soul to contain it, the enormous energy stored in his body spiraled out of control. It expanded violently, blowing his corpse apart and scattering chunks of flesh across the battlefield. His Life Jurisdiction transformed into a beam of light for the Divine Civilization’s Will to collect as the victor’s prize.

Han Wu snatched up every scattered Divine Aspect shard and pocketed them.

Even if the Life God King wanted to resurrect, his soul had been destroyed, and there wasn’t even a body left to return to. The Life God King had fallen. His death prompted the Divine Civilization’s Will to make an announcement.

The Death Faction had emerged victorious in the divine war between Life and Death.

Thousands of miles away, the Death God King had just taken a direct hit from the 15 billion Huang Shengjuns’ Formation Might and was on his last breath. He wouldn’t survive another strike.

As he closed his eyes in despair, he heard the announcement: The Death Faction had won!

His eyes turned red from tears of joy. Han Wu had done it. He had actually killed the Life God King!

With the war’s end, the 15 billion Huang Shengjuns were immediately ejected from the battlefield. The territory belonged to the victor. The Nine-Eyed Evil God, the War Faction, and the Destruction Clan had no right to remain. Only after every enemy force was cleared out did the Death God King finally exhale a sigh of relief.

The long divine war was over. Even the Death God King, a being accustomed to death itself, felt relief at surviving it.

Meanwhile, the three ejected factions were furious. They had been so close to victory. The 15 billion Huang Shengjuns had been on the verge of crushing the Death God King with their Formation Might. Han Wu had simply been faster.

“Life, that bastard!” the War God King cursed.

The War Faction had suffered devastating losses, their units having been slaughtered to prevent the Viral Maggot infection. It would take an eternity for them to recover from this. The whole venture had been a catastrophic failure.

The Destruction Clan had it worse. Their assassination teams in the divine war were all counter-invaded and nearly wiped out. Only Elder Gu Feng survived.

However, the biggest loser was still the Nine-Eyed Evil God. He had lost close to 1.4 billion Huang Shengjuns during the battle—a force that could’ve flattened several lesser civilizations.

This wasn’t the end of his bad luck, though. As it prepared to use the remaining 15 billion Huang Shengjun legion to reach for glory, the Death God King used his authority to file a formal complaint with the Divine Civilization’s Will.

After an investigation, the Will determined that the Nine-Eyed Evil God and his Huang Shengjun legion posed an extreme threat to itself. It locked onto their signatures, expelled them, and issued a permanent ban. Any attempt to return would be treated as an invasion and met with unprecedented resistance.

This expulsion affected War God King Zhong Heng most greatly, as his entire power base had rested on those billions of Huang Shengjuns. Without them, he was a general without an army.

He immediately contacted his adopted son, Pious, and prepared to flee to a foreign civilization until things cooled down. The War Faction’s rank and file could take the blame.

“War is deception. Don’t blame me for being ruthless. Once I recruit new forces out there, I’ll come back and repay you all,” Zhong Heng muttered as he prepared to teleport away.

Pious’s eyes flickered, and he gazed at Zhong Heng with intense focus. “Father, I actually have a better idea. One that could appease the other factions’ anger.”

“What idea?” Zhong Heng asked.

“We can’t risk having this plan overheard. Let me whisper it to you. The idea is...” Pious leaned toward Zhong Heng’s ear.

Zhong Heng trustingly leaned in to listen.

A nine-star Divine Weapon halberd pierced through Zhong Heng’s chest. It was so shocking that Zhong Heng didn’t even feel the pain.

Zhong Heng pointed a trembling finger at Pious. “Why... why would you do this?”

“This is my idea, Father. All the blame falls on you if you die. The other factions get their closure, and the rest of us are safe.” Pious paused to wipe the blood from his face. “Also, you’ve been sitting in the War God King’s seat for too long. If you don’t die, when will it ever be my turn?”

These impious words enraged Zhong Heng, but his wounds were fatal, and he could do nothing but die with his eyes wide open.
