The Natives of This World Are Fierce
Chapter 216 - 213: Absolutely Must Not Stay Here
Chapter 216: Chapter 213: Absolutely Must Not Stay Here
Hama Pi may have been an unsuccessful con artist who had never truly amassed enormous wealth, but even if he was a failure in the past and currently had nothing to his name, he still cherished his life dearly.
Qin Xiaoxia didn’t let Doudou say any more. The words Doudou was using were basically what he had said before, so there was no need for Doudou to make up more on the spot.
"Your name is Hama Pi, correct? We only came today to see if you pose a significant threat. Since you are an Akenis, once you share your technology with us, we will leave. We won’t make things difficult for you."
Hearing this, Hama Pi breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed he wouldn’t be killed. As for technology, it wasn’t like he had a monopoly. He was afraid they might even look down on what he knew.
"Respected Magic Controller, please rest assured. I, Hama Pi, swear on my noble business ethics that I will hand over all the technology I know to you."
"Uh, and, could you perhaps put in a good word for me afterward? Get these, um, these humans to let me go! I’m just a harmless Akenis. I don’t pollute the world, nor do I have any great power..."
Hearing this, neither Qin Xiaoxia nor Doudou said a word for a moment.
"Sorry, the humans here are not under our jurisdiction."
After a long silence, Qin Xiaoxia spoke with a hint of regret.
Hama Pi’s heart sank the moment he heard the first word. By the time Qin Xiaoxia finished speaking, he felt completely abandoned.
The message was clear: We won’t kill you, but we can’t save you either. You’re on your own.
He glanced towards the other side of the glass. The Guardian soldiers and the people from the Special Security Team were expressionless, but when some of the researchers saw Hama Pi looking at them, they gave him a very friendly smile.
Combined with the super-strength security glass that was already bulging outward and cracked, those smiles looked exceptionally eerie and twisted.
HISS...
A violent shiver racked the Ear-Piercing Monster’s body, and a single thought dominated his mind.
’I absolutely cannot stay here!’
Thanks to Qin Xiaoxia’s and Doudou’s descriptions, combined with the magical influence of Secret Realm Power, humans—or at least, human scientists—were already becoming demonized in Hama Pi’s mind.
"Uh, great, wise, and powerful Magic Controller, you must be perspicacious enough to know that some technologies and creations require the humble Hama Pi to demonstrate them personally. And some very interesting techniques take a long time..."
Hama Pi tried his best to make his tone sound more credible.
"I understand that for powerful Magic Controllers such as yourselves, time is precious. It’s clear that it’s inconvenient for everyone here. If I were to conduct demonstrations here, not only would I lack the proper materials, but it would also waste your time. Uh, if you were to take me with you, I could slowly demonstrate and create things at your place. I imagine it would be much more convenient!"
"As a humble Akenis, it’s not just my technology, but also my wisdom. Of course, a powerful Magic Controller is wise enough, but my humble intellect might offer a different perspective."
Seeing that the three of them showed no expression or movement, Hama Pi began to break out in a nervous sweat again.
"And the most crucial thing is! I am an officially certified merchant of the Akenis Chamber of Commerce! My business skills are recognized by the Chamber. Look, my Chamber vest is the best proof!"
Hama Pi tugged at the clothes on his body with his small arms, showing off the numerous pockets on it, as if to say this was proof that could never be faked.
However, all he saw was the three mysterious figures exchange a glance before turning to walk out.
The Russian soldiers and researchers outside were about to use a key to help open the door from the outside, but Doudou simply tapped the lock. All of the door’s physical bolts clicked open, and without any authorization from the electronic system, the door opened on its own.
This was why a Mischievous Elf could always get indoors so easily. Their Magic Power was weak but miraculous. It was useless to try and capture and lock them up unless everything was welded shut. Even if you tied them up, you had to make sure their fingers couldn’t reach the knots.
As the three of them exited, a squad of soldiers kept their guns aimed at the cell, in case the mutated creature tried to take the opportunity to escape.
"I imagine you must have many things you wish to discuss with us."
Facing Lazov, Qin Xiaoxia spoke in a low voice.
...
「Twenty minutes later, in a conference room on the second floor of the research institute.」
Fresh fruit and refreshments were arranged on plates on the table—or rather, piled up next to Doudou.
Ignoring the crowd of people from the Special Security Team and the Guardian soldiers, Doudou brazenly swept all the fruit and food from the table into a pile by their side.
When their big cousin looked over, Doudou said with complete justification.
"Well, from what I’ve seen, they never eat the stuff on the conference table during meetings anyway. So what’s the point of putting it here? I’m helping it serve its purpose."
If anyone else had done this, it would naturally be considered unsightly. But when a mysterious figure from Dawn did it, it was seen as being genuine and unpretentious.
Reality is just that superficial.
Lazov suddenly felt that perhaps the people from Dawn weren’t so difficult to communicate with after all. This relatively short, mysterious person was at least not hypocritical.
"It’s no problem, no problem at all. Your Excellency, if you’d like more, I can have someone bring some over."
This was a blatant bribe. Although Tao Xingzhi hadn’t thought much of it at first, it seemed he couldn’t just do nothing.
Judging by Doudou’s behavior now and earlier in the base cafeteria, this Dawn Member must be quite the foodie.
"Your Excellency, if you have the time, you should visit us at the Special Security Team. Our headquarters’ cafeteria has gathered top chefs from all over. Whatever you want to eat, you can enjoy the world’s finest cuisine without leaving the building."
’Holy crap! I’ve heard Mrs. Huang talk about this!! I never got the chance to go!!’
"Hmm, next time I have a chance, I’ll ask the Master Sage for permission to visit you."
Doudou barely managed to restrain themself from revealing their true nature, almost blurting out a string of "Yes, yes, yes, yes!"
’Gotta be reserved, gotta be reserved. If I behave now, Big Cousin will give me a chance!’
Once all the preparations in the conference room were complete, what could nominally be considered the first formal meeting with the Dawn Association finally began.
To show their respect, some of the video and audio recording devices in the conference room had been removed, leaving only the basic multimedia equipment.
At first, the discussion was mainly between the Special Security Team and the Guardians. This included further sharing of information on the previous situation, as well as the Evolver system, which was now beginning to form a certain level of professional ranking.
Of course, there was also the most critical topic: the ruins discovered in France, the research materials on the ruins found by Hua Country, the United States, and France, and the speculation about connections to the mysterious organizations previously discovered by the three nations.
However, this part was glossed over, as Hua Country had already confirmed that the mysterious organization was Dawn, and its members were right there beside them.
Overall, the Russians were brought up to speed on the intelligence they currently lacked the most: information about the ancient guardian organization hidden behind the conventional world—the Dawn Association.
Many of these things sounded incredible, but with people from the Special Security Team and Dawn right there, and combined with their intelligence personnel’s recent analysis of the major powers’ actions, everything finally clicked into place.
The only thing was, the people from Dawn didn’t say a single word during this time. The Special Security Team tried several times to ask about the confrontation with the likes of the Flame Demon, but they were politely refused with a shake of the head and a "not at liberty to disclose."
The brief exchange between the Special Security Team and the Guardians lasted less than half an hour, as the main focus of the meeting wasn’t between them. There would be plenty of opportunities for detailed negotiations later.
However, none of them rashly made any requests of the three mysterious figures, so the conference room gradually fell silent.
