The Natives of This World Are Fierce
Chapter 215 - 212: The Meek Lamb is a Ferocious Wolf
Chapter 215: Chapter 212: The Meek Lamb is a Ferocious Wolf
At this point, there were some things Qin Xiaoxia didn’t want outsiders to know. So, he took advantage of the magic power fluctuation to destroy all the microphones and listening devices in the cell.
After a slight tremor in the hallway, the people outside discovered that all the equipment inside the cell had been completely wiped out.
As they scrambled to check the equipment lines, frustrated by the sudden loss of contact with the cell, Hama Pi was inside, consumed by his own terror.
Those few sentences hinted at a dark and heavy secret. Hama Pi knew it was far more than someone like him could handle.
The black-robed man’s gaze grew placid, a placidness devoid of any warmth.
"Now, do you still dare claim you have the ability to observe this world on your own?"
Hama Pi’s dark, ink-green face turned white as a sheet, his sharp teeth chattering, "CLACK CLACK CLACK."
"I, I... uh... maybe I... maybe I was mistaken..."
It was the only answer Hama Pi could give. He had to blame it on a faulty memory. Admitting that he’d lied to an unknown, high-level Magic Controller would have equally dire consequences.
"Yes, yes, I think what I observed was a Desolate World... Er, mighty Magic Controller, what did you mean just now when you said I couldn’t escape?"
His personal safety was paramount. Hama Pi asked cautiously, terrified that the mysterious being’s words were merely a prelude to killing him.
But Qin Xiaoxia didn’t answer him. Instead, Doudou, who was standing beside him, suddenly piped up.
His voice was clear and androgynous.
"Hey, Ear-Piercing Monster, what sort of strange things have you got on you? And what fun crafts do you know?"
’He’s definitely in the know!’
Hama Pi thought to himself that most creatures, even if they’d heard of the Akenis, wouldn’t know that some of their goods were self-made. They usually lied, claiming their wares came from distant, hard-to-reach worlds to inflate their value.
Inside his robes, Doudou’s little hands were already rubbing together in anticipation.
Back in the Magson World, he had once used a Wish to trade for a "toy" made by an Ear-Piercing Monster. It was one of the most amusing things he had ever played with.
He remembered it was called "Can’t-Find-Me," a tiny little puppet.
If you gave it to someone, the little puppet would "awaken" from its inanimate state whenever the owner wasn’t looking. It would then constantly steal the owner’s most-used belongings and hide them in the most difficult-to-find places.
That toy had even influenced Doudou’s own mischievous habits, which was evident from the pranks he had pulled at Qin Xiaoxia’s home.
Hama Pi patted the sealed pouches on his body.
"I don’t have much on me, but I can show you all later. As for crafting, I only know how to make a few interesting little trinkets..."
"Hahaha, interesting little trinkets are my favorite!"
Doudou’s eyes went wide as he looked at his big cousin, performing the difficult feat of rolling one eye up and the other down.
The meaning was clear: ’Big cousin, we have to take this guy with us!’
Even without Doudou saying anything, Qin Xiaoxia knew. Little creatures like the Akenis often had unexpected uses, not to mention they could possess useful skills.
However, this was Russia’s turf. Taking their prize catch off their hands would be a real challenge. Things would be much simpler back in Hua Country; getting someone from Tao Xingzhi would be a far smoother process.
Mo Shaoge, of course, could only watch in silence. But from the conversation, he could tell this little creature wasn’t simple. Lord Doudou seemed to hold him in high regard.
"Akenis, it’s too dangerous for you here. I’ll find a way to get you out. Afterward, we’ll learn more about the skills you possess."
Hama Pi, having a guilty conscience, thought they had seen through his earlier plans to sell humans as slaves and hurriedly tried to clear the air.
"No, nothing of the sort! These natives—er, I mean, these intelligent beings have been so kind to me! How could I possibly do anything to harm them?"
"Heh..."
Doudou flashed a toothy grin at Hama Pi. Qin Xiaoxia also cracked a smile, and even Mo Shaoge chuckled.
"You thought I meant *they* were in danger? Hehehe..."
"It’s not...?"
Hama Pi trailed off in confusion.
’Could it be that *I’m* the one in danger? Surely I can escape, right?’
But in reality, while Hama Pi was much stronger than a normal human, this was a base for the Guardian troops. The men training here were elite Soldiers, specialized in dealing with anomalous incidents.
Qin Xiaoxia was willing to bet that even if Hama Pi used some unexpected trick to escape the cell and cause some initial chaos, he would never make it out of the base, let alone the research institute. The most likely outcome would be his death.
This time, Doudou didn’t wait for his big cousin to speak. He had finally seized his chance, and the sound of his laughter was sinister in Hama Pi’s ears.
"This intelligent race you’ve encountered, called ’humans’—they seem to have no Magic Power, and their physical strength and power are unremarkable, aren’t they?"
In his heart, Hama Pi subconsciously agreed, ’Yes.’
"The moment you think that, you’re already courting death—or rather, a fate worse than death!"
Doudou paused, then imitated his big cousin, intentionally slowing his voice and making it deeper.
"The human race is a complex entity, and destruction and slaughter make up a vast portion of their history. Now that you’ve fallen into their hands... heh... do you really think you’ll leave in one piece?"
Hama Pi gleaned an important piece of information from this: the mysterious being speaking to him was probably not human. For now, though, he couldn’t dwell on it, waiting with a mix of curiosity and apprehension for him to finish.
Seeing the expression on Hama Pi’s face, Doudou was quite pleased. He glanced at his big cousin and saw him smiling with pursed lips, clearly having no intention of interrupting. So, Doudou continued with renewed confidence.
"In the last few thousand years of their history, humans have waged over 14,000 wars amongst themselves, resulting in the direct or indirect deaths of over three billion of their own people..."
Hama Pi’s jaw dropped. The very concept of waging over ten thousand wars in just a few thousand years made him shudder. He couldn’t think of a single race that was more warlike.
But he clearly didn’t grasp the scale of that number. Qin Xiaoxia noticed this and helped Doudou elaborate.
"The bodies from those three billion deaths could fill the famous Fairy Forest in Magson dozens of times over."
His words carried a trace of the Secret Realm’s power, making Hama Pi feel as if he were seeing a world forged from mountains of corpses and seas of blood—a hellscape more terrifying than even certain parts of Corpse Shadow Qipero!
Hama Pi’s eyes went wide. His head turned stiffly, almost mechanically, and his gaze shifted to the side. He looked out into the hallway, now visible through the glass after its opaque film had vanished, where a dense crowd of people was pressing in to get a look.
Every single one of them was staring at him, their eyes gleaming.
Seeing that his big cousin had covered for his oversight, Doudou continued.
"Especially given where you are, and especially given your status as an otherworldly ’Demon.’ It doesn’t matter how well you communicate with them. In the end, your body, your organs, even your tissues will be sliced up—strip by strip, piece by piece. Every day, scientists will carve off your tissue and drain your blood. It would be a mercy if you died, but if you’re alive..."
The Mischievous Elf let out a cold, fearful-sounding laugh—a performance perfectly in character.
What was a scientist? What kind of beings were these research experts? Doudou, who had once been terrorized by his big cousin with tales of such things, now vividly painted that same terrifying picture in the mind of the Ear-Piercing Monster.
"Believe me, you do *not* want to find out! And their methods are far beyond your imagination. You... will... absolutely... not... escape!"
His voice, amplified by the power Qin Xiaoxia was exerting, carried a grim chill that sent Hama Pi’s imagination spiraling into terrifying places.
"CR... ACK... ACK..."
His neck seemed to have petrified; it took him ages to turn it even a small degree.
Beyond the spiderweb of cracks in the glass, standing beside the Soldiers and Special Security Team personnel, was a group of people in white lab coats. Light glinted off their glasses again and again.
Hama Pi could see it on their faces—an expression of intense curiosity and excitement, born from a powerful thirst for knowledge...
