The Natives of This World Are Fierce
Chapter 196 - 193: The Loyal Dog He Dared Not Accept
In any case, everyone more or less understood that Master Sage and the Red Demoness were probably in no danger inside, and they all breathed a sigh of relief.
"By the way, Luna has burns and needs treatment. It'd be best to get us some food and water."
Hearing this, Sun Monkey said, "I'll go get food," and darted through the crowd in a few bounds.
He leaped and climbed his way back to Doudou's workshop, grabbed a large amount of food and drinks from the snack counter, and handed them to the famished and parched Brown and Luna.
"That damned Monkey, taking my stuff again…"
Doudou huffed and pouted but didn't say much more.
After Luna ate a little something, mental exhaustion quickly washed over her.
Mumu, meanwhile, luxuriously mixed juice extracted from the petals of a Flower of Life with cooling ointment. A girl from the French Branch took Luna inside to treat the burns on her body and let the little girl, who hadn't slept much recently, get some proper rest.
Brown's consumption of energy had been the greatest up to this point. After deactivating his Ability, the physical fatigue and energy deficiency in his body became apparent.
The blood of those Bat Demons was all stored within a giant pitcher plant.
As for Brown, he wolfed down bread, braised chicken legs, milk, and other food. The speed at which he ate made Doudou's eyes go wide, and his heart ached at the sight.
Sun Monkey had to go back and forth several times to get more food. Seeing how fast it was disappearing, Doudou secretly tossed in two packets of Mumu's Golden Fertilizer.
It was only when Brown bit into something that went "CRUNCH CRUNCH" and had a sour, astringent, and acrid taste that he picked up the bag of glittery golden "snacks" and stopped eating, a look of confusion on his face.
"Alright! He's stopped eating, so he must not be hungry anymore! Hurry up and tell us what the Demon inside is like! Is there anything strange about it?"
Doudou seized the opportunity to immediately ask the question on everyone's mind.
Since Master Sage wasn't in much danger and Brown and Luna were fine, their intense worry quickly transformed into an even more intense curiosity.
With Doudou kicking things off, everyone else couldn't hold back their desire to know what was happening inside the mirror.
Although Brown still wasn't full, his physical condition had recovered significantly.
He set aside the bag of awful-tasting yet very large "snacks." Not keeping them in suspense, Brown gave a general account of what had happened after he went in.
No one had expected the space inside to be so vast, or for the Demon Eye's size alone to be so terrifying. It was also incredibly fortunate that Brown had managed to hold on until reinforcements arrived.
More than that, Brown had even been clever enough to trick the Demon into revealing some seemingly crucial information.
"Shouldn't this information be reported to Master Sage?"
After listening, Philier wondered if they should make a report.
"But Master Sage is already inside the mirror."
Brown had wanted to report it earlier when he was inside, but he hadn't had the chance.
Su Su turned and smiled in that direction.
"Right now, Mentor and Sister Hong's interaction with the Secret Realm is completely connected. What you say here, they will also know."
...
A long time had passed while Brown and Luna were being tended to, eating, and sharing information. Qin Xiaoxia couldn't have just been standing around doing nothing inside.
In fact, even before learning all this through the Secret Realm, he and the Red Demoness had already played off each other to get plenty of information out of the Demon Eye.
Even if we tentatively call the Demon Eye the strongest Demon encountered so far, how could it pass through the World Wall?
The Flame Demon last time was clearly a special case. Even if the World Wall was weakened, it shouldn't have opened a gap this large, right?
So the truth was, the place this Magic Mirror entrance led to really wasn't a Secret Realm, and naturally not Earth, but what the Demon Eye called a "Broken Origin World."
It was basically a world completely lacking in resources, species, and vitality. They were usually not very large and wouldn't attract outside interest, being even less appealing than a World Fragment.
Most of these worlds were on the verge of collapse. A few, like the one it was hiding in, were in a dormant state. Because they had almost no living beings inside, they rarely interacted with other worlds.
With every piece of information the Demon Eye shared, it would repeatedly stress that its Magic Mirror had entered the Earth World by mistake and that it absolutely did not dare to leak any information.
It also confessed in detail that it had been severely injured three times over the past century and was just hiding here to recuperate.
It didn't dare to directly absorb souls and flesh on a large scale. Here on Earth, it had only just begun; at most, a dozen or so ordinary creatures without Magic Power had died because of it.
And to compensate for all this, it was willing to pay with a sufficient amount of Magic Energy Crystals.
By the time they coaxed out the details of its injuries, Qin Xiaoxia and the Red Demoness were no longer very afraid of it.
Although it still possessed immense Magic Power, its Soul Essence had suffered too great a loss, drastically reducing its command over its power. It had to rely on Demon Spirits to absorb "nutrients." Its main body no longer posed an immediate, fatal threat to Qin Xiaoxia and the Red Demoness.
A single lash from this close would be more than it could handle. If they wanted to escape afterward, the Demon Eye definitely couldn't stop the two of them.
It was also at this exact moment that Qin Xiaoxia learned the information Brown was sharing, which saved him the trouble of prying it out himself. He had originally thought Brown and Luna had just been desperately trying to escape inside; he never expected them to have gathered some interesting information.
Looking at the giant eyeball before him, which dared not make any sudden moves, the bold plan he had concocted earlier was gaining more and more "theoretical support."
After a moment of thought, Qin Xiaoxia spoke, preparing to lure it into his trap.
"Heh, as for Magic Energy Crystals, we aren't lacking."
This didn't surprise the Demon Eye at all. After all, for an existence like the one before it, there were likely very few things it could possibly lack. Its offer of compensation was merely a gesture of goodwill.
"You don't have to worry about your life. To be honest, I'm quite disappointed. I originally thought I could capture a complete one, but it turns out you're only left with one eye~"
The Eye of Void trembled. It had also deduced the approximate time this world had been hidden and when the True Gods here had gone into hiding.
It had been tens of thousands of years since it was in its complete state. The True Gods must have gone into hiding long before that.
"I dare not deceive the great Comir and the unknown True God. My main body, the Hundred-Eyed Pupil Demon, disintegrated tens of thousands of years ago. Now, all that's left is this central main eye, known in other worlds as the Eye of Void, seeking a chance to recover."
Then it added again with sincerity.
"Of course, if I had known that the previous world was the domain of a True God, I would never have dared to have any ideas. I would have definitely behaved myself…"
"Alright, alright, you're talking too much and it's annoying me. Careful, or I might just make a snack out of you."
THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.
The surrounding space contracted violently for a moment before the terrified Eye of Void forcibly suppressed it, afraid its fearful reaction would displease the being before it.
The Demon Eye interpreted "making a snack out of you" as a form of blood sacrifice to a god. In terms of meaning, it was like offering a sacrifice to a god as blood-food.
'The one with Comir of Truth is probably not an incarnation of the Law of Order. A sacrifice of Flesh and Blood Magic Power… an Evil God! This is definitely a true Evil God!'
It felt as though it had learned more secrets, but at the same time, its situation felt even more perilous. It forced itself not to think any deeper.
Qin Xiaoxia and the Red Demoness suddenly wiped the smiles from their faces, making the Demon Eye's soul freeze.
"You're not too bad, unlike this one."
He said, raising the Endless Abyss in his hand.
"This little guy's World Fragment was captured. I originally thought its appearance suited my aesthetic and wanted to keep it."
The Demon Eye felt a "but" was coming.
"But it seems it didn't understand the situation. After entering the Earth World, it strutted around, recklessly making a mess. I got annoyed and accidentally crushed it to death. Thankfully, this toy is pretty good, so it wasn't a total waste of effort."
The Demon Eye trembled again.
"Niril Savannah was a violent idiot with a brain full of lava! I knew he would die, and I knew he was stupid, but I never thought he'd be so stupid as to offend the great, merciful, tolerant…"
"Alright, alright… any more and you'll start to annoy me…"
The Demon Eye immediately fell silent, something like tears seeming to well up within it.
'That was close, I almost annoyed him.' It felt it was in grave danger, that it could lose its life at any moment. The moods of True Gods were truly unpredictable.
A soft, beautiful voice suddenly rang out faintly.
"Alright, alright, this is so boring. Don't you just want to catch a decent subordinate? This one's a bit ugly, but it'll have to do. At least it's more polite than the last little flaming guy."
"If you're not satisfied, just give it to Doudou to eat. I wonder if an eye this big can actually fill him up."
The Eye of Void could no longer remain calm. It felt as if its life or death would be decided in the next moment.
"Oh, great True God Comir, and you, this merciful True God! Eating me would provide but a negligible amount of power to a True God, but if you spare me, you will gain a loyal servant! Niril Savannah's ignorance caused him to miss a glorious opportunity, but I, Dororian Kwa, am the most suitable choice!"
Its attitude was terrified, yet sincere.
However, a problem still lay before Qin Xiaoxia: how was he to control such a dangerous being?
This was completely different from controlling Mumu back then. Aside from what they had just coaxed out of it, their understanding of the Demon Eye was far from complete. The Demon Eye also didn't seem to have a core like Mumu's Heart of Nature.
Even if it had something similar, he and the Red Demoness couldn't necessarily rest easy even if it was given to them.
Faced with such a seemingly loyal dog, he didn't dare to just accept its servitude outright.
