The Most Arbitrary Wizard
Chapter 455 212: "Mr. Blake Also Likes to Fish
After dinner.
Sean and Elise were strolling on their room's balcony.
A bright moon hung high in the night sky. The evening breeze caressed the sea, causing it to sway gently and shimmer with sparkling light.
"This view is definitely worth the price of admission," Sean remarked with a sigh.
The Winterless Sea was truly beautiful at night.
Because Sea Beasts lived on the seabed and Magic Power made the water clearer than usual, the light from the fish's glowing fins could faintly reach the shallows, visible to the naked eye. Gazing down from above, it looked as if the waves had shattered the moonlight and let it diffuse across the surface, reflecting the entire starry night sky.
Elise, however, was still pondering a question from dinner.
"How on earth did you manage to hook Howard?"
During the banquet, Howard had expressed his hope that Sean would visit the Grev Family as a guest once they reached the Golden Coast.
Sean had repeatedly declined, saying it would be improper.
Howard, in turn, had repeatedly insisted, saying there was nothing improper about it. His family was easy to get along with, he'd said, and a friend of his was a friend of the family.
Sean declined again.
Howard invited him again.
Then, with an expression that said he couldn't possibly refuse such a heartfelt invitation, Sean had finally agreed with a sigh. "Sigh... all right."
"Well, since you've put it that way, I suppose I'll have to impose on you for a short while."
—It was from that moment that Elise became certain Sean was, indeed, fishing.
His little game of playing hard to get might have fooled Howard, but it couldn't fool her.
That was just his style.
He would never say what he wanted directly. Instead, he would find a way to make others force it upon him.
It was just like every time she teased him. Sean would always say it was inappropriate, but when she actually went in for a kiss, his honest body would tell her it was very appropriate indeed.
Elise trusted her judgment.
But there was one thing she couldn't figure out.
Sean had only decided to drag her to the deck to go fishing after he'd gone to the museum, seen the Scepter of Ultimate Truth, and remembered something.
It was a spur-of-the-moment decision. How could he have coincidentally hooked a fish like Howard?
'It couldn't just be a coincidence, could it?'
"If you can't figure it out, then don't think about it."
Sean said deliberately, "If I were you, I'd go to sleep now. Maybe you'll figure it out after a good night's rest? Besides, girls shouldn't think too hard. It's an easy way to get old."
"No," Elise said, pouting slightly. "I'm not the type to just sleep on a problem. I won't be able to sleep until I get to the bottom of this."
"Is that so... Well, suit yourself."
Sean left the balcony and headed back into the room. "If you're not sleeping, I am."
Elise: "?"
"Don't you dare sleep!"
How could she not see that Sean was just trying to keep her in suspense?
'Trying to run away after saying half a sentence? Not a chance!'
Elise tackled Sean directly onto the bed, straddling him, and said fiercely, "Tell me what's going on right now, or if I can't sleep, you won't be sleeping either!"
Sean's gaze didn't seem to want to climb any higher. From his angle, he could only see the lower half of Elise's face. He said with dissatisfaction, "Another sneak attack, huh?"
Elise retorted, "And don't you enjoy being ambushed?"
Sean refused to admit it. "Who says?"
Elise: "Your little brother told me last time."
Sean: "..."
"I can't be bothered to argue with you."
He snorted lightly. "If you've got the guts, just stay in that position. We'll see if I can fall asleep or not."
'It's not the first time Elise has straddled me,' he thought. 'I'm immune by now.'
'Mr. Blake's self-control is very strong. Otherwise, back when he was so popular, if any random beauty could have distracted him, how could he have possibly conducted his academic research?'
"Is that so?"
"Then what about this?"
Elise's eyes glinted with provocation. With a SWISH, she tore off her jacket. Underneath was the dress she had worn to the banquet—a very form-fitting number, the exquisite fabric tightly outlining her fiery curves.
But form-fitting as it was, the dress wasn't revealing at all. Besides, Sean had already seen it. A mere dress wasn't enough to take this man down.
So, after taking off her jacket, a faint glimmer of Magic Power lit up Elise's fingertips.
Her fingernails suddenly grew as sharp as knives. With a gentle flick, she slit the strap at her collarbone. Having lost its support, the dress immediately slid down a notch, completely revealing her fair, smooth shoulders.
Below her collarbones, a flash of snowy white skin was revealed.
Sean: "???"
"Whoa... wait a minute!"
'What is wrong with this woman? Why does she start taking her clothes off at the slightest disagreement?!'
Elise lightly held the dress with her hand to keep it from slipping all the way down. She winked at Sean. "What's wrong, Mr. Writer? Didn't you say you could sleep perfectly fine, even in this position?"
"I haven't changed my position, you know."
Sean: "..."
Elise's figure really was incredible.
She also had a pleasant scent about her.
He didn't know if it was perfume or something else, but its concentration was just right, perfectly to his liking.
He was getting hard again.
Sean swallowed hard and said, "Listen, can't we try a different approach?"
"It's always like this. It's getting boring."
"Really? Boring?"
Elise leaned down, blew a hot breath of air into Sean's ear, and nibbled on his earlobe. "Then why are you squeezing your legs together?"
"Did you think I wouldn't be able to feel your 'magnificence' if you did that?"
Sean: "..."
'Magnificence... that's a good word,' he thought. 'I like it.'
But!
He wasn't going to surrender just because she paid him a compliment or two.
"Just get off already," Sean said, feigning impatience.
'She won't listen to reason, so I'll just have to be a little rougher.'
Unfortunately, Elise knew him too well.
They had known each other for so long. Had Sean ever been truly angry with anyone but his enemies?
It was so obviously an act.
"I'm not getting off." Not only did Elise not get off, she even wriggled her hips, making Sean suck in a sharp breath. She said with a grin, "Either you tell me what I want to know, or I'm going to 'take care of you' tonight. Pick one."
