Chapter 429 - 202: "Lover

"Achoo!"

In the hotel, Sean sneezed.

’Who’s thinking of me now...’

He rubbed his nose and muttered.

Given that quite a few people could be thinking of him—Elvire, Eleanor, Elise, Yisha... the list went on—Sean didn’t dwell on it. He was used to being on people’s minds every day, after all. He just lowered his head and went back to what he was doing.

Sean was holding a map.

He’d bought it while he was out that afternoon and had already made a few marks on it.

He also had a mental map of the Farm World.

But the scales were different, and the orientation seemed to be off as well, so Sean couldn’t directly overlay the two maps. He first needed to identify a landmark to serve as a reference point. Only then could he calculate Holkaydo’s position.

On the sofa, Elise was still in Meditation.

The Wine of Imagination on the coffee table was gone, and the twenty-four hours had passed, but Elise hadn’t woken up on schedule.

Just as she’d said herself, her Talent was better than the average Wizard’s but couldn’t compare to a true genius like Elvire. She was stuck in that awkward middle ground. Twenty-four hours hadn’t been enough for her to fully comprehend the guidance the Wine of Imagination provided for her Meditation.

She took nearly three extra hours, finally opening her eyes at 4:00 a.m. the next morning.

Sean, sitting opposite her, noticed the movement and looked up. "Did you break through?"

He could feel it. Elise’s aura was on a completely different level than it had been yesterday.

An "aura" was a kind of "scent" given off by a person’s presence, a scent that formed part of their overall "disposition." Elise’s physical appearance hadn’t changed, but to Sean’s eyes, she was a world apart from the woman he’d seen yesterday.

’This woman... she seems to have even more Charm...’

"Mhm." Elise’s eyes curved into crescents. Even though she had just broken through and needed to acclimate, the surging Magic Power within her told her she could take on ten of her former self. The feeling was incredible.

And seeing Sean the moment she opened her eyes? That was even better.

"Mr. Writer, thank you," Elise said, looking at Sean, her eyes full of tender affection.

It was this man who had given her the chance to break through. Otherwise, just by her own efforts, she wouldn’t have reached Tier Six for another year or two.

"What a waste of breath," Sean huffed. ’We’re partners. No need for thanks.’

He couldn’t be bothered to respond to that, just motioning with his chin toward the microwave next to the TV stand. "There’s food in there. Go heat it up and eat."

This was something he’d brought back as takeout that afternoon. It was from that little diner that had, in a very literal sense, relieved him of half a Silver Coin last time. It tasted pretty good.

But Elise didn’t move, her gaze still fixed on Sean, full of passion. "I want to eat you," she said.

Sean: "?"

’She just woke up and she’s already at it again, huh?’

’Most people only get indecent thoughts after they’ve eaten their fill. Elise wasn’t even full yet, and she was already making a move on him.’

While complaining internally, Sean said with a deadpan expression, "I haven’t showered. I’m dirty."

"That’s alright, I don’t mind." Elise shot him a flirtatious wink. "I can lick you clean."

Sean: "..."

’Damn it, this vixen.’

’Her words were getting more and more seductive.’

Sean was having a hard time resisting. He put on a stern expression and said gruffly, "Just go eat. Then get some rest. We have business tomorrow."

"Hm?"

The mention of business finally made Elise shelve her indecent thoughts for the moment. "You’ve already made plans? What are they?" she asked.

Sean tossed the map to her. "Top right corner. See for yourself."

Elise caught the map and studied it for a long moment before asking, puzzled, "There’s nothing there?"

The upper-right corner of the map had no cities, no markers, not even a regional name. All that was there was a vast, continuous mountain range... ’Hmm, judging by this pattern, I guess these are mountains?’

"That’s right, there’s nothing," Sean said. "I’m guessing that’s this world’s World’s End."

Hearing the words "World’s End," Elise instantly understood Sean’s plan. "You want to use the location of the World’s End to pinpoint Holkaydo’s direction?"

"Yes." Sean nodded. "We’ll have to make a trip there, just to be sure."

This was about whether they could speed up opening the passage between the two worlds. It was also about whether, once the passage was open, they could slip through unnoticed by the Church Court. There was no room for error.

Besides, they also needed to use the World’s End to confirm the location of the Church Court’s official passage.

He had learned from the Eleanor Sisters that the passage entrance in the Farm World was near New Elderidge, but he didn’t know where in the New World that corresponded to. Just like with Holkaydo, he and Elise would have to find it themselves.

It would take time for Lauden and Gomez to crowdfund the money and buy the materials. They could use this time to sort out the "supply route." As soon as everything was gathered, they could take it straight back to the Farm World.

"I understand." Elise nodded, her expression serious. "Since we have important business, I’ll just have to eat you some other day."

Sean rolled his eyes.

’The way she says that... as if I’d let her eat me just because she wants to. Hmph.’

Elise got up to heat up her food.

Sean asked offhandedly, "Didn’t you say you’d already thought of your Wizard title?"

"Yes," Elise replied.

"What is it?" Sean asked.

"Lover," Elise answered.

Sean didn’t process that for a moment. "Lover?"

"Yes. It means ’beloved,’" Elise said with a grin. "So, Mr. Writer, please call me Lover from now on."

Sean: "?"

’What a bizarre title.’

’Look at titles like Night Watcher, Librarian, Bell Ringer, Living Dead... They’re all so serious. What the hell kind of title is ’Lover’?’
