The Most Arbitrary Wizard

Chapter 406 191: Calling It a Day

But she couldn't get back up.

Elise wasn't some Newborn Wizard who had just awakened her Magic Power. She knew many common Magic spells, including the Floating Spell, which she hadn't been very good at before but made a point to learn after the last plane crash. The moment she realized Sean and Elvire hadn't actually jumped and came to her senses, Elise had activated the Magic Spell, trying to slow her descent and gently float back up.

But to her dismay, her Magic Spell had "failed."

It wasn't that she'd recited the Spell incorrectly, nor that the Magic Spell was impossible to cast. Rather, in the deep section of the well where she was, all the Energy that should have been orderly—like gravity and temperature—had become utterly chaotic.

This chaotic Energy could also interfere with Magic Power, causing the Floating Spell she cast to spiral out of her control. It sent her flying all over the place, up and down, and even canceling the Magic Spell was extremely difficult. It took Elise quite a while to stabilize herself. Otherwise, she would have started cursing them out long ago. Why else would she have waited until now?

This place was seriously bizarre.

Elise complained, "I felt like an out-of-control car, with two huge headlights swinging around, barreling down the sidewalk, completely unable to stop."

Sean could picture it immediately and couldn't help but say, "Nice, nice, nice!"

"Nice my ass!" Elise fumed. "If you've got the guts, come down here and see if I don't smash right into your face!"

Elvire also shot Sean a glare. "Watch your mouth!"

After all, Elise had fallen down because of them. What was this, gloating over her misfortune?

Sean cleared his throat and explained, "I meant that the chaotic force field is a good thing."

"Remember the last time we went to the 'New World'? How I got back?"

He'd been mercilessly pushed off a cliff by Her Highness the Saintess.

Falling from a cliff in the 'New World' and reappearing on a cliff in the Farm World... his sensations during that entire process were very similar to what Elise was feeling right now.

In other words, their theory was correct.

This world was like a board. The farm was on one side, and the 'New World' was on the other.

As long as they could drill through this board, they could travel from the farm to the 'New World'.

The depth Elise was at currently was already quite close to that "Critical Point," which was why energies like gravity were in disarray.

"Miss Elise, you've performed a great service this time!" Sean shouted down.

Elise ground her teeth in frustration. 'Who gives a damn about this 'service'?'

"Sean! Can't you figure out a way to haul my ass up here first?!"

'That's the important part, you idiot!'

Sean yelled back, "Don't worry, you won't die."

He had already noticed more people jumping down from above.

This time, it was Eleanor and Yisha.

"Master."

Seeing that Sean was unharmed, Eleanor breathed a long sigh of relief.

Yisha had just told her that Sean had jumped into the well, which had scared her half to death.

Yisha, seeing the two of them were perfectly fine, also patted her chest and said, "Thank goodness you're okay."

"What's the situation now?"

Sean jutted his chin toward the depths. "Your big sister Elise has fallen down."

Yisha: "Huh?"

"How did she fall?"

"Who knows," Sean said deliberately. "Maybe she likes the thrill."

Elise's furious voice immediately shot up from below: "Sean! You'd better pray I can't get back up, or I'll show you what a real thrill is!"

Sean wasn't scared. "Bring it on! Who's afraid of who?"

"That's enough out of you!" Elvire slapped Sean lightly in annoyance. "Is this really the time for jokes?"

"Hurry up and have your Maid rescue her."

As the "Lady of the House," Elvire could have directly "ordered" Eleanor. But the matter from this morning wasn't over yet. Setting aside whether it was a misunderstanding, shouldn't Eleanor at least offer her an explanation? If Eleanor didn't explain, Elvire couldn't possibly be the one to initiate a reconciliation. Where would she put her pride?

So when she saw Eleanor arrive, Elvire didn't even greet her. Her form of address had also changed, shifting from "Eleanor" or "Miss Eleanor" to "a certain someone's Maid."

Eleanor, in fact, was also feeling very conflicted.

She started to speak several times, but always stopped herself.

On the one hand, she really wanted to get along with Elvire.

But on the other hand, she couldn't disobey Her Highness the Saintess's orders...

'If only my sister were here.'

'Let my sister be the bad guy. I'm much more suited to being the good guy.'

Ever since reuniting with Elise, Eleanor hadn't missed her mischievous little sister as much as she did right now.

"Let's not rush." Seeing the topic was about to circle back, Sean spoke up just in time, interrupting the two women's thoughts. He crouched down and shouted loudly to Elise, "Is there anything around you? Can you see clearly?"

'Since she's already down there, might as well do some proper reconnaissance.'

'Besides, with Eleanor right here, there's no real danger.'

"There's nothing here," Elise replied.

"I haven't even hit the bottom yet."

If she had really reached the bottom, her voice wouldn't be able to reach Sean.

The well was terrifyingly deep. Elise felt like she had been falling for a long time before reaching this area, yet below her was still a bottomless darkness. It reminded Elise of the Black Sea at World's End. While talking to Sean just now, she had chipped a few small rocks from the well wall and thrown them down, but she still hadn't heard them land.

"How about you go a little further down and take a look?" Sean said.

Elise: "?"

"No way!" she refused decisively.

If Sean and Elvire had fallen, she would have followed them down.

But those two were perfectly fine above her head. She'd have to be an idiot to jump down any further.

The force field at her current depth was already starting to get weird. Who the hell knew what it would be like deeper down.

She was just a lowly Tier Five. What if she got torn to shreds by the chaotic force field?

She was still a virgin!

'Whoever wants to go can go. I'm not going, anyway.'

Sean held back a laugh and stopped teasing Elise. "I'll throw down a rope for you. See if you can climb up."

This wasn't to torture Elise on purpose. Sean mainly wanted to know the exact depth in meters where gravity started to distort. That way, when they started "drilling a well" themselves later, they could be more careful and avoid unnecessary accidents.

As for what lay deeper...

Sean decided not to go for now.

The power of nature is terrifying. Mr. Adelf had mentioned this before.

Faced with the might of nature, even a Grand Mage might not be able to contend with it.

The Black Sea at World's End was one example.

The Gate of Hell might be a second one.

They didn't know if there was another Black Sea in the deepest part of the earth, or some other danger. Sean wasn't sure, so he chose to retreat for the time being. He wouldn't risk Eleanor's safety.

Besides, he had already gotten the answer he wanted. There was no need to gamble.

"Catch!"

Sean personally condensed his Magic Power into a rope that looked like a measuring tape and tossed it to Elise.

「Two hours later.」

Elise successfully climbed the rope back to where Sean and the others were.

Most of that time was spent breaking free of the chaotic force field. The rope merely served as a guide and a point of leverage; Elise did most of the work herself.

"You two... I'll remember this!"

Elise said viciously the moment she was up. "Next time you're in trouble, see if I lift a finger to help!"

Seeing her covered in dust, her clothes filthy, Sean couldn't help but laugh out loud.

To be honest, there was a certain charm to seeing a woman who was always so clean and beautiful suddenly turn into "Cinderella."

"What the hell are you laughing at!" Elise cursed.

Sean: "I'm laughing."

Elise: "?"

"You want me to punch you??"

"HAHAHAHAHA!"

Sean laughed as he ran off. "Let's go, let's go! Calling it a day!"

Elise chased after him, flailing her arms. "You damn Sean, get your ass back here!"

Elvire: "..."

'Shouldn't I be the one saying that?'

...Whatever. 'Let's just leave it for now.'

She glanced at Eleanor beside her. 'I'll settle the score with that guy when we get back.'

Sean had already memorized the numbers on the measuring tape. Kovloki Castle was almost done being cleaned, too. This trip to Sonaros State could be considered a complete success, and there was even an unexpected bonus—

Dorunla.

Since she was one of their own now, Sean certainly wasn't going to let the young lady go.

While being "hunted down" by Elise, Sean pulled out his phone and made a call to Kate.

"Help me look into a farm in Krim State called the 'Glass House.' I want all the information on the owner."

"Also, have we secured the land in Holkaydo? We can start construction."
