The Max Level Hero Has Returned!
Chapter 1478.2
Evangeline, with a surprised look, flew toward the spot. She had no clue why there was a person in this section of the vast ocean.
Of course, if that really was a person, rescuing them came first. If she didn't save the person struggling in the water now, no one else would. She could save her pondering for after.
“Just hold on a little longer!”
The hovering camera followed behind Evangeline as she shot through the air like a cannonball, capturing the entire scene.
When she finally reached them, Evangeline and her massive viewer base froze.
“Aah. Help me. Help me. Rinne requests assistance.”
It was clear from the blank expression, and the tone that didn’t sound at all urgent—the one flailing around in the water was none other than Rinne.
Evangeline had no clue what that golem was doing there. Frankly, she suddenly felt a strong urge to ignore her and pass by.
Rinne was a key member of the infamous Gourmet Research Society of Heins Territory. That meant everything she did was practically intertwined with the Gourmet Research Society.
That organization was an icon of betrayal, a den of maniacs.
Given how many times Evangeline had been betrayed by them in the past, she was certain she’d unluckily stumbled across some kind of scheme she should never get involved in.
Evangeline suddenly said to her chat, “I don’t see anything, though?”
She then hastily turned away.
Normally, her viewers tended to go along with whatever she wanted, but, at the end of the day, they were always looking for something entertaining. So of course, they didn’t accept her denial.
[What??? Are you ignoring a person drowning?]
[That isn't right!]
[Controversy! This just in: Streamer Evangeline ignores a person flailing and drowning in the middle of the massive uninhabited ocean! Registering this on the wiki as we speak.]
“No, you idiots! There’s absolutely nothing good about getting involved with those psychos! How is that the behavior of someone who’s drowning?! She's just pretending!”
Regardless, Rinne continued flailing around as if she were drowning. “Aah. Rinne predicts imminent drowning. Rinne rates this low.”
The tone was utterly tranquil.
Eventually, the chat was filled with comments calling for Evangeline to be canceled. Overseas viewers enthusiastically joined the protest as well, spamming X’s in the chat.
In the end, she declared defeat, “Ugh! Fine, I’ll save her. Jeez!!!”
She quickly flew over and reached out her hand to Rinne, asking, “Rinne, what are you even doing here? Take my hand.”
The golem's lazy eyes, which had been glancing around wildly for a long time, took in Evangeline. She then tilted her head.
After a moment, she began to flail again. “Aah. Rinne rates her own drowning lowly.”
“Ugh. You’re seriously annoying!”
Evangeline was about to reach out and hoist Rinne out when suddenly, with a heavy splash, Rinne was dragged underwater before she could pull her out.
A gurgling sound bubbled up from beneath the surface.
Evangeline froze with a shocked look as she watched Rinne, who had been leisurely flailing just moments ago, be dragged underwater by something. “Huh?”
[???]
[What was that just now?]
The viewers were just as flummoxed.
Confused in the chaos, Evangeline frantically prepared to dive into the water.
At the same time, Yuria shouted from afar, “It took the bait!”
She appeared suddenly, riding a wind spirit.
“Huh?”
Following her arrival, Davey appeared, treading on the air, and spoke with a grin. “It was worth the effort of making these punks suffer for hours.”
Evangeline stared blankly at the two of them, especially scrutinizing her father, who was smiling and holding a massive harpoon in one hand. She asked, “Dad? What are you... doing here?”
He confidently responded, “What does it look like? I’m fishing.”
“Fi... Fishing?”
“Yeah. I heard that a super elephant bluefin tuna lives here.”
“Su... Super what?”
[??? There shouldn't be tuna in this area, though?]
[Seriously, the Gourmet Research Society and the Saint of Tionis are always up to something bizarre KEKW they’re genuinely a hilarious family]
[I’m a marine biologist. I can state with absolute certainty that there is no tuna in that region. And I’ve never heard of anyone using a living person as bait.]
Evangeline, on behalf of the viewers who couldn't keep up with the situation, remarked, “Dad, the viewers are saying tuna don’t usually pass by this area. And I’ve never heard of a tuna that bites people.”
“That’s right. That’s usually the case,” he said while spinning the harpoon. “But there’s a very big tuna in the deep sea here.”
“And that is... the super elephant bluefin tuna?”
“You sure are quick-witted.”
Everyone was incredibly relaxed and calm, despite how Rinne had been dragged into the sea.
Evangeline was still confused. “What does that have to do with Rinne being dragged away as bait?”
“Lady Evangeline, it’s a hassle to find a creature that hides so well, so it was necessary to bait it with a drowning Rinne. Fufu. You’re more airheaded than you look, m’lady.”
“Ugh, you psycho...” Evangeline was speechless and dumbfounded.
[Super elephant bluefin tuna? I’ve never heard of any species like that.]
[Where in the world does something like that exist? We’re not stupid lol]
Naturally, the viewers didn't believe her either. However, when enormous fish-shaped shadows began circling beneath the surface, the chat froze for a second.
[Wait wtf]
[MonkaS]
And then.
Boom!!!
A colossal bluefin tuna, easily ten meters long, leaped out of the water with Rinne still between its teeth. She was holding its mouth open with her hands and legs so that it couldn’t close its jaws.
Yuria cheered, “It surfaced! We finally got the bastard!”
“Tie that bastard up!”
With those words, a massive burst of light erupted, and spirits wrapped themselves around the colossal tuna suspended in the air.
It instinctively twisted its entire body to escape, but Davey was faster in diving toward it.
Squelsh!!!
He stabbed it as if hooking a frozen tuna with a giant steel hook. The tuna thrashed violently as a massive amount of blood gushed out.
[??? I knew tuna were big, but what the fugg is that?]
[Holy crap. Something like that was in the water
[I hear the sound of several academic papers being overturned.]
[Does this even make sense? What the heck is up with that size?]
Evangeline, watching the scene with a dazed expression, eventually asked Davey, who was piercing the massive, limp tuna with a harpoon.
“Dad... what is that?”
“What do you mean? It’s the super elephant bluefin tuna I was talking about.”
“Uuuh. Do you guys know about this?”
[I am a marine biologist with thirty-eight years of experience. I can tell you with absolute certainty that I have never seen anything like this.]
[Isn’t that just a monster? That’s not the size of a normal tuna, no matter how you look at it.]
[I am an employee at the Rokpusa Marine Biology Research Institute. Do you have any intention of selling that unique creature for the betterment of science?]
[LMAO this is the first time I've seen something like this in my life lul]
[Anything involved with the Gourmet Research Society always turns out to be epic, no kidding KEKW]
Evangeline, of course, frowned as she read the noisy chat. “Well, it has a name, doesn’t it? So why don’t you know it?”
[I don't know because I don’t know. Who on earth named it that?]
[This is the first time in my life I’ve heard that a tuna of that size even exists.]
[Please ask which scholar came up with that name.]
So she asked, “Dad, who named that tuna?”
At her question, he pondered for a moment and then smiled brightly. “I named it.”
Just as expected. Davey had just found and caught an unknown fish not found on Earth.
[This insane family...]
[They’ve lost it lololol]
[This is a creature that completely disregards existing marine biological mechanisms. Please, let us research it...]
“Nope. This is for my wife to regain her health.”
Davey dismissed them with a bored tone. But then, as if something occurred to him, he snapped his fingers. “Ah, but I’ll give you this instead.”
He then bent and peeled off a bizarre creature clinging to the belly of the tuna.
[Holy crap!]
[Isn't that an ancient parasitic species?]
[What are you saying, you nerds...]
[Please explain so we can understand.]
[Breaking: The creature the Saint of Tionis just handed over is a parasitic fish that went extinct hundreds of millions of years ago and was previously known only from fossils. This is the first living specimen ever discovered in human history.]
[Crazy lmao he’s going to be on the news again lul]
As the chat erupted into a heated debate among viewers knowledgeable about marine biology, Davey held the parasitic fish out to Evangeline.
“Eva. Do you want to take it?”
She recoiled in disgust at the fish with its strange, wiggling suckers and threw it into the water. “Ugh. Gross.”
[Wha... What the hell?!?!?! Why did she throw it away??!!]
[CRAZY OMEGALUL]
“I mean, what am I supposed to do with something so gross?! I’m an art streamer, not a marine research streamer!”
The chat was set ablaze by her frantic shout. Then someone broke the chaos.
[Next thing you know, they'll say the leviathan and megalodon still exist, too.]
Evangeline tilted her head at the chat.
“Wait, aren’t megalodons already a thing today?”
[???]
[What are you talking about...]
[Why would a megalodon be alive in this era...]
“I mean, So-Ya lined up like five or six megalodons on the beach before and bragged about it... She also said she’d personally beat them up.”
Naturally, people criticized her for making an empty boast, but Evangeline wasn't the type to take that lying down. “Dad! I choose megalodon!”
He thrust his hand into his Pocket Plane and rummaged around for a moment. Then, he casually pulled out something massive.
It didn't move, seemingly dead, but its size and massive body completely dwarfed any ordinary creature.
While it differed slightly from the form of the megalodon reconstructed by computers, it could be clearly recognizable as a megalodon at a glance.
“This?” Davey asked her.
“Yes! That’s it! See, you people! Why didn’t you believe me?!”
[???]
[Is this for real?]
[Holy moly...]
Davey, who had been intently observing the massive tuna, finally spoke to say, “Eva, how many people are watching your stream?”
She checked the tablet floating in the air and answered, “A hundred fifty thousand.”
“Can you ask if there’s a Japanese chef who’s free to butcher tuna right now?”
“What? Why?”
“Seeing it in person, I think I’ll ruin all the parts if I try to slice it myself.”
At his words, viewers who appeared to be chefs and had been quietly lurking in the chat suddenly went wild, flooding the stream with messages and donations.
[Me me me me me!]
[I’ll do it! I’ll do it!]
[Holy fuck how can you pass up a chance to handle something like that???]
[I’m a three-Michelin-star chef. Can I apply for the job?]
‘Why are such incredible people watching my stream in the first place?!’
Evangeline looked bewildered and reluctantly told him, “It seems there are some, yeah.”
“Perfect. I’ll pay a fair price as—”
[No, forget the price! Just let me take a knife to that thing!]
[Look at those scales. That's a seriously high-grade fish. Probably the best one I’ve ever seen in my life.]
The world was a big place, and there were more nutjobs out there than anyone could even imagine.
In the end, Davey’s group’s capture of the colossal tuna spread even to the news.
“But where are you going to butcher it?”
“Hmm. Should I rent out a Japanese restaurant or a hotel?”
[Please bring it to our hotel. That amount looks like it’s too much for just one or two people.]
“Eva, what kind of people are watching your stream?”
One of her managers was Al Hajat, who was known as the Oil King.
Although he was busy with his own work and had recently handed his duties over to his secretary Antonio, the size and scale of her stream was bigger than one could imagine.
