Chapter 3406: I Will Not Run Away
Chapter 3406: I Will Not Run Away
As Rui and Amare parted ways, the entire world was alerted to the Dragon Emperor’s loud and unapologetic charge towards the Hlakaschken Trade Empire. Instantly, the pressure began mounting on Lord Shenlong as forces around the world began attempting to compel the Dragon Emperor to back down from his war charge towards the trade empire.
The Dragon Emperor remained unmoved even as he received signals with his raw senses, not requiring technological receivers to convert the signals into readable language.
He could not back down now that he had made a move; it would reflect badly on his reputation if he turned around.
No matter what, he was going to reach the Hlakaschken Trade Empire.
What he would do was still up in the air.
Lord Shenlong was not a man, or dragon, who made decisions easily or quickly. He much preferred to go where his instincts took him rather than shackle himself to the designs of the mind.
Perhaps he would be satisfied if all the citizens and the Empress kneeled before him, begging for forgiveness.
Perhaps he would be satisfied only if every last person on Grinolia Island was set ablaze, destroying the entire trade empire.
As one of the ten powerhouses of the world, his word was law in an overwhelming majority of cases. Unless one of the other ten went out of their way to intervene, there was nothing that anybody could do to him.
“I am the Emperor of Dragons,” he snarled with rumbling roar while the perilous glint in his yellow reptilian eyes grew even more dangerous. “My will is absolute
.”With a powerful flap of his wings, the very fabric of space and time bent, propelling him forward with a devastatingly intense momentum.
RUMBLE!!!
The world shook as a titanic tsunami emerged behind him, attracted by the gravitational field his body had. The tsunami extended hundreds of meters in the air, gaining an apocalyptic momentum as it threatened to ravage the Hlakaschken Trade Empire.
The Dragon Emperor hardly cared for the consequences of his actions.
So what if the Hlakaschken Trade Empire drowned in a destructive tsunami?
It wasn’t his problem.
It was their fault for provoking them.
If they managed to survive, he would hardly be done with them. He didn’t merely intend to drive by for a little shower. He intended to show them what happened to those who defied him.
To those who defied him and didn’t have the power to back it up, anyway.
RUMBLE!!!!!
The world shook as he charged across the skies at extraordinary speed, ignoring the increasingly intense and urgent transmissions that forces around the world transmitted to him.
Meanwhile, the Hlakaschken Trade Empire had declared a national emergency formally in extreme urgency. So much so that Empress Schlieffen didn’t even have the time to give an announcement about the matter after she abruptly canceled the press conference.
“Get back into your homes!”
“Hide in the cellar if possible!”
“Do not come out under any circumstances!”
The air in the Hlakaschken Trade Empire boiled with tension as law enforcement surged into the streets, breaking up the daily trade and commerce that was omnipresent across the entire nation.
Pathwalkers ran across the streets and the skies, announcing the nation emergency and immediate orders to hide and evacuate to safer places. Tens of thousands of officers of various races barked orders to civilians to remain hidden from sight as much as possible and to take cover wherever they could.
The atmosphere grew dark despite the bright light of the morning sky illuminating the fine streets of the Hlakaschken Trade Empire that rapidly emptied with each passing minute.
The citizens were shaken by the announcement of a national emergency.
In all their lives, they had never once experienced a national emergency in this open trade nation.
Not once had anybody dared attack Grinolia Island, not even the giants.
RUMBLE…
The extended multi-layer modular port system built on the perimeter of Grinolia Island began shifting as giant canons emerged within it, pointing in the direction that the Dragon Emperor rapidly moved towards them.
The Hlakaschken Trade Empire was not the most militarily developed nation in the world, but it was far from undefended. Nearly ten thousand mighty electro-plasma siege weapons of the highest caliber forged by none other than the dwarves of the Bournvyrne Empire manned the borders of the powerful trade empire, able to eradicate entire nations with a single attack.
The port systems were also armed with seismic and tsunamic stabilizers that negated seismic radiation by vibrating out of phase to destructive interfere with the earthquakes, negating them entirely.
Giant walls ten meters thick emerged from within the extended and modular port system, extending dozens of meters in the air, while massive holes designed to form an outlet for water emerged.
Any powerful nation worth its salt had seismic and tsunamic counters, not because natural earthquakes and tsunamis were particularly common. But because they could be artificially caused by powerful pathwalkers.
Like the Dragon Emperor.
“Gather and form a perimeter!” the pathwalker forces of the Hlakaschken Trade Empire roared as they charged to the edge of Grinolia Island, ready to confront the Dragon Emperor if needed.
The sheer numbers that gathered gave many of them the confidence that they would be fine.
How bad could one dragon be?
Of course, the ones who sweat the most were the strongest of pathwalkers, equivalent to Martial Sages.
They understood better than their lesser peers just how powerful the top ten powerhouses of the true world were.
These were people who could rule the world, give not for each other.
They were the only thing keeping each other in check.
“Your Majesty! You shouldn’t be here!”
“Get back to safety, Your Majesty!”
“It’s too dangerous here!”
“Silence,” Empress Schlieffen’s voice was unyielding.
Her expression was severe.
Yet, her eyes were one of grave acceptance.
“My declaration caused this,” she spoke with an imperious tone. “I will not run away from the consequences of my actions. I can only pray that my life will suffice to calm the enraged dragon.”
