Chapter 3289: Shackled Escape

Chapter 3289: Shackled Escape

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!

Rui swerved through the shifting, predatory forest as he struggled to evade the countless branches that converged upon him at blinding speeds. The sheer velocities at which they moved beggared the imagination, making it almost impossible to evade them with their sheer area of effect.

WHOOSH!

He ducked, barely avoiding a wood attack the size of a tree, before somersaulting away in the face of several more branch attacks.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!

He had already activated a combination of Neo Godspeed and Nemean Blossom, making his job that much more difficult than it normally was.

He had already known that elven attacks were wider than they were faster on average, compensating for their lack of speed. However, in the case of the assault that the light elves had prepared for him, they were both fast and wide, increasing the difficulty of coping with them.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

Rui gritted his teeth as a tremendously devastating attack blasted him in the blink of an eye, as he dispersed its impact with a combination of Body of Water and Flux Earther.

CRACK CRACK!

His eyes widened as he felt his ankles fracture.

The very moment he tried dispersing the energy into the lands, his earthbending failed. Gaia refused to heed his call, instead hardening and colliding with what would have been a seamless dispersion.

The light elves had noticed his earth-bending when he fought against the dark elves in the Forest of War, and had prepared targeted counters with their root biotechnology. An unfathomably enormous root network stretched far and deep across the land he was on, and they had almost complete control over earth and land, denying him any control over it with his earthbending.

The attacks only kept coming, and they only grew more intense and more powerful.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!

Rui barely evaded several devastating tree attacks as he struggled to weave through them with their size and speed. His broken ankle had healed in an instant, but it didn’t solve the problem that he was dealing with.

The problem was that he was simply outmatched.

His eyes flared with visceral determination as he activated Megamind.

’I can’t afford to hold back, or I might actually die.’

In the blink of an eye, he activated Soul Retcon, pulling out one of his biggest trump cards from the get-go.

One moment, he was Rui Quarrier, who had lived a long life, having mastered all kinds of Martial Art.

The very next moment, the only thing he recalled practicing was evasive maneuvering.

RUMBLE!!!!!

The world shook with rampaging power as countless attacks of great destructive power converged on him, threatening to kill him where he was.

WHOOSH

He breezed past all of them, avoiding each and every single attack that the forest threw at him as he ran fast in one direction, hoping to reach the end of the forest that had been planned to serve as an execution center designed to kill him.

’I need to get the hell out of this place!’

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!

He swerved in and about dozens, hundreds, and even thousands of wood attacks that converged on him, threatening to kill him where he was.

And yet, not a single one of them could so much as even touch him.

WHOOSH!

He flipped backward even as he surged forward, evading a blindingly fast branch swipe that would have split him in half, before rolling to the side to evade a barrage of giant leaf blades, each the size of a carriage and with not too far below his own.

WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!!!

He ran in a smooth parabolic curve across the forest, adding zig zags and abrupt shifts in his trajectory as he tried throwing off the countless attacks aimed at him.

And yet, they found their mark on him nonetheless.

SPLAT SPLAT SPLAT!

“Rgh…!” Rui gritted his teeth as several leaf blades cut him, inflicting slashes across his body, while several branches converged on him, using the opportunity to blast into him.

BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!!!!

Rui barely managed to block the attacks, reactivating Nemean Blossom once more by force as he struggled to protect himself against the incoming attacks from his enemies. He leaped to the side, running off in an unpredictable and erratic trajectory, hoping to throw the attacks off.

And yet, they landed on him true and straight nonetheless.

BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM BOOOM!!!!!

Every attempt to throw them off only resulted in him getting struck even more by the powerful attacks of his enemies.

Almost as if they knew exactly where he was going.

’…They managed to get their hands on the flora predictive model that the dark elves had created against me in our mock battles!’ His eyes widened with shock.

It was no wonder that he was struggling to evade their attacks, even though he had been using Prophecy of the Void, even if the predictive model that created it was only a primitive one created by the Angel of Laplace at the start of the battle.

The two foresights canceled each other out, leaving the forest with an inherent advantage against him and his Soul Retconned Neo Godspeed. Despite Soul Retcon increasing his maneuverability, it could not overcome the astronomical strategic advantage that the light elves held over him with a forest that had been created specifically to annihilate him and only him.

’We have him temporarily subdued once more!’ Mother Mara seized the opportunity. ’Activate the explosive wood systems in full throttle!’

’Yes, sister!’

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!

RUMBLE!!!!!

They unleashed destructively powerful antimatter and nuclear attacks of tremendous power, hoping to incinerate him into ashes once and for all.

“Fine.”

Rui’s tone smoldered with a flicker of vengeful intensity.

His voice was no more than a murmur under his breath.

It sent chills down the mothers who heard him.

“Since you’re so eager to keep me here…”

His pitch-black eyes flickered with death.

“Then let me remind you exactly why you fear me.”

RUMBLE!!!!!!!

The world shook as Rui unleashed the death he harbored within his body.
