Chapter 143: He is Shy (Bonus Chapter)
Nox craned his neck so hard he looked more like an ostrich than a wolf.
Then they heard a soft hiss... and a very thin, small emerald-green snake came out of his sleeve. It slowly slipped onto the table and hissed once, turning its head to all the people one by one.
"Oho! RuYi! This appearance is so much like you!" Lupine cackled.
"Ayia... RuYi, what’s with this???? What the hell is this snake form?" Xiao Hong rolled her eyes.
Ghost Master just scoffed.
Even Frostbane could not help but utter two words. "He is shy."
"WHO IS SHY?" A clean, clear voice rumbled from the snake’s body. It startled Nox so much that he stumbled on his elbow, which was holding his weight on the table.
"Pffft!" Moon laughed out. "So cute!" He could not help but praise.
The snake hissed at him, then again wanted to flee inside Ugo’s sleeve.
But a rough hand suddenly caught its tail.
"Impudent! Fool! Who is it?" the snake rumbled as it twisted its body.
Axe pinched its tail and swayed it in front of his eyes a few times.
"Why do I feel like I have seen it before? Oh, wasn’t there a vine like this when Ugo was fighting?"
He shook the snake again and grinned. "Elder, it’s not nice to hide. We are marrying today—three on one. You should attend."
Moon’s face blackened at his words. What is marrying three on one? They were just contracting souls. But what he said was right. This spirit should stay.
"Old Ivy! Come out, don’t be shy. Why are you even taking a snake form? Show us your beautiful face!" Lupine taunted.
"Yes, yes, let us see. Let us bow and get your blessing." Axe was also inspired, though he never left the tail.
"You rude scoundrel, little foolish disciple of that dog... You both are the same monster. Let go of my tail or I will strangle you to death." RuYi threatened.
Axe thought it was enough.
He didn’t really dare to mess with an ancient soul. This soul really could have strangled him. He slowly put it down on the table.
The snake shot straight for Ugo’s sleeve, but this time Ugo hurriedly blocked it and put his arm over his chest.
"Master, let’s stay and oversee our contract. You always stay in Starlily Sanctuary. You need to see Mooney." He coaxed.
"Don’t be shy," Bane said.
"WHO IS SHY?" the snake shouted. "Fine. I will just stay for a while."
Xiao Hong exhaled sharply. "Ayia... will you be a normal man, or do I need to burn your ass to transform?"
RuYi looked at Moon as if still reluctant to meet this guy, and Moon’s stomach dropped.
’No wonder Ugo was hiding this. This spirit really hates me so much!’ he thought.
"It’s fine. Just let him be." He said. His voice became low.
"It’s not what you think, Mooney," Ugo said to Moon, then looked at the snake helplessly. "Master, you are making him upset."
"Fine, fine! So much drama."
Just as the words fell, the snake leaped to the side, and a figure conjured in the air.
Soft green light wrapped around the snake’s body. Leaves and thin vines spun once, then the air settled.
A middle-aged man stood on the ground beside the tables.
He wore a long robe of pale green and white, the fabric light and flowing like morning mist.
The sleeves were wide, the collar neat, and a simple white jade pin held his long black hair. Everything about him carried the quiet air of an Immortal Daoist—calm, gentle, and clean.
But...
Seeing the man, Moon’s eyes widened.
Nox’s mouth fell open.
Axe’s smile froze halfway. He even forgot to tease.
The face looking back at them resembled eighty percent of Moon’s appearance.
Same phoenix eyes.
Same thin lips.
Delicate high nose bridge, and sharp, elegant jawline.
The only things different were his pupils—green, while Moon’s were blue.
He was taller than Moon, and his gaze was more mature, giving him a touch more masculinity than Moon.
Even the way he stood felt oddly familiar, yet stronger, like a tree that had lived too long.
Ugo kept silent.
A small, amused smile sat at the corner of his lips as he shook his head, took a teacup, and poured himself some tea.
He had seen this face before. And, like them, he almost dropped his jaw.
This was the main reason the spirit never wanted to meet Moon. He had clearly watched Moon from afar many times, but never got close.
Xiao Hong covered her mouth and laughed softly. "Ayia... Look at that sweet face of yours. Seeing you still makes my heart race!"
Lupine’s eyes curved with mischief. "Don’t hide, YiYi. Your descendant will not steal your beauty."
Ghost Master only scoffed once.
Master Bane remained still as ice, but the corner of his mouth twitched.
"Shut up!" RuYi gritted his teeth, but his voice came out suppressed and lower.
"Don’t call me that."
Moon’s initial shock was replaced with confusion.
This face was so much like him that he had a moment of delusion—’Is he my father?’ Then he shook his head. ’No way!’ he thought.
He knew his father was not fake.
And he was indeed his father’s real biological son in his Heavenly Sequoia Realm. Or else his mother would not have stayed after so much humiliation.
But why did this spirit look so much like himself?
And this was...
"You... are not human?" Moon asked.
RuYi Ivy glanced at him, his expression unreadable. "I am a plant spirit. My true form is the Moonlight Sacred Vine."
This made Moon freeze again. This... was something he held very dearly.
He knew this name to his core.
He had a Moonlight Sacred Vine in his yard.
But that vine was definitely not this sovereign master.
This was a real plant spirit that had taken a human form after many years of cultivation. And a rare entity even in the cultivation realm.
In his realm, there were no plant spirits. He only heard legends about them in nighttime tales.
Every story his mother told him was one of those fairy tales that never were there.
Only in the legend.
But in this Lost Realm he found those legends.
One divine wolf.
One plant spirit.
One phoenix and one dragon.
He had thought Ghost Master Hollow was human, but later found out he was a Shadow Nether Wolf.
And these were all things he had heard in fairy tales.
Tales about legends.
Nox finally found his tongue. "Holy Moon... he’s your twin, Mooney."
"Not twin," Axe muttered. "More like... Grandfather."
RuYi’s gaze swept over them once, then he sat down beside Ghost Master.
"What are you waiting for? Start." He scoffed.
Moon pulled himself out of thought and turned his attention to the main event.
He had to suppress his urge to peek at RuYi again.
"Master Lupine, I want to form a soul contract with them." He paused and slowly uttered, "An equal soul beast contract."
"What?" Lupine immediately shed all his fun and sat straight, glaring at Axe and the others. "What nonsense is this? How could you—a great wolf—bow to a human and form a soul contract?"
