The Mage's 5 Fated Alphas (BL)
Chapter 142: RuYi The Plant Spirit
Axe leaned back against the stone table, crossing his arms over his chest. He raised his hand.
"Hold on." He said in a grave voice.
Moon exhaled. He knew it would not be that easy.
"So what will be our relationship after that?" Axe asked.
"Soul pet or beast, whatever you feel okay to say. Equal one.
You cannot betray me, or you will get a severe backlash. Same goes for me. If one dies, the other will also suffer a severe backlash and can even die in many cases.
We will also have a telepathic connection always.
You can rise with each of my progress, and I can use your power in some cases.
I don’t know your werewolf genetics properly. What I said is from a beast’s point of view."
"Isn’t it the same as a mate bond?" Ugo asked.
"Well..." Moon hesitated.
He himself could not tell what a mate bond was like, or how it worked. He only knew that sometimes he could feel these brothers’ extreme feelings. And after they mated, he always got a temporary telepathic connection which eventually faded.
"It’s different... you don’t mark or do... those things with your beast. They just work together."
As he finished, the air stilled around them. Moon’s ear flashed red.
"Pffft..." Axe laughed out loud.
"Of course we know you don’t fuck your beast."
Ugo shook his head as he smiled.
"What I meant is it’s kind of similar in the parts about betrayal and telepathy. Also..." he paused, looking at Moon’s eyes directly, "we never intended to let you go, so either way it’s the same. We don’t need a bond. We already have a bond that we can feel. What we need is to claim each other."
"Don’t you mind being a pet?" Moon asked, narrowing his eyes in confusion.
"We mind. Let’s say we are not pets, but contracted souls."
Moon thought for a moment. Looking at it this way, it was indeed exactly like this.
"Hmm. That’s right. Actually, in my continent, mages don’t form contracts with spiritual beasts equally. They sign a master-servant contract. An equal contract is actually the same as an ally."
"Is that so?" Ugo asked.
"Hmm." Moon nodded.
"Then it’s our pleasure to get an equal one." He smiled softly.
"Let’s try it. If it fails, it fails. If it works, we can stay connected no matter where we go." Nox argued.
Moon looked at the three of them.
The moonlight made their faces clearer than he thought it would.
He still felt the weight of those old wars in his memory—mages who bound divine beasts and paid for it later in blood.
But these brothers were not pure divine beasts. They were already bound to him in too many ways.
He let out a long breath.
"Fine. Don’t regret it later."
He called out to Lupine for guidance, but found himself in the middle of three other spirits.
It would be wrong to say three other spirits.
In fact, as soon as Moon saw a frosty tall figure come out of the thin air, his eyes contracted sharply.
It wasn’t a spirit, but a real immortal figure.
He looked and looked again, but still felt he wasn’t a spirit or wandering soul like Lupine.
"Don’t look at his face for long. You will freeze to death." Xiao Hong teased. She had changed her outfit to something more elegant, still red, though.
"Why did you change your dress?" Nox asked.
"I wanted to." She said, lifting her chin, looking at Nox like seeing a fool.
She could not really tell this junior that she had been fooling around with this frosty immortal, and now he would not let her remove those marks. She had to hide them to keep her cool. She cursed a hundred times in her mind.
"Frostbane." The frosty figure only uttered this one word, then stood like an ice statue.
"Oh! Frostbane Master?" Moon asked. He did not want to offend an ancient being by calling a random name.
"Call me Master Bane," Frostbane replied.
His voice was cold, yet it held something closer to affection.
"You are..." Moon wanted to ask if he was a soul or a living being, but felt it would be rude.
Lupine chuckled. "He is a living being. Unlike us, he is just an abandoned young master from his clan. Hiding here to drown his sorrow in the Black Sea’s rotting water. Hahahahahahahaha." He started to laugh.
"Shut up, you old hound!" Xiao Hong immediately flared up.
"Fine, fine. I will not say bad things. Anyway, what I said is true." He shrugged, then pulled out his table and chairs from Lupine Palace and sat there, inviting the others.
Bane sat silently when Xiao Hong sat beside him.
Lupine was sitting opposite, and from the ground the Ghost Master slowly crawled out and sat beside him.
Moon’s lips twitched.
He had only asked one spirit to watch over him, since it was his first soul contract and he was not sure if something would go wrong.
[I really want to sit there.] A soft sigh echoed in Moon’s consciousness.
’You can pretend to be a wandering soul and come out.’
[Good idea. Why didn’t I think of this before?]
’So are you coming out?’ Moon asked. He was amused and curious.
[No. Still can’t come out in front of my subjects.]
Moon sighed internally and suddenly felt a little pity for her.
He looked at the new table Lupine had set and felt something was missing.
He turned to Ugo and leaned to his side, whispering, "Hey? You never saw any spirit near Starlily Sanctuary?"
Ugo shifted on his seat.
He rubbed the bridge of his nose as his eyes darted around.
After a moment, he cleared his throat and said in a low voice, "This... there was one indeed."
Moon’s eyes widened.
He never thought Ugo was hiding something like this.
"When? Where? Where is he? No! Why didn’t you tell me?" he asked in one breath. He looked hurt.
Ugo’s heart tightened. "I didn’t tell you because you were crying... that night. Saying you wanted that place. How could I say later, when I went inside and was planting seeds, I met a snake, and he would not leave me? How could I tell you then that the place you wanted its spirit was clinging to me?" Ugo said helplessly.
"A snake?" Moon felt another shock. Could there be a snake spirit there?
"What’s more, what’s wrong with telling me this?" he asked again in confusion.
"This... I thought you would be sad if he chose to stay with me." Ugo started to scratch his neck.
"Why would I... no, wait... you really don’t think I am that petty just because I cried to take over the sanctuary, do you?"
"NO!" Ugo retorted immediately. It came out louder than he thought. And then they found every eye looking at them strangely.
"Cough! Cough! You... whatever! Just bring him out." Moon said, waving his hand.
"Um." Ugo nodded.
He spread his arms and muttered softly, "Master, come out for once." He paused, then added, "Please," softly.
Moon’s eyes were fixed on his spread arms.
Even the other spirits were looking at Ugo.
Nox craned his neck so hard he looked more like an ostrich than a wolf.
