He kept kissing him deeply, almost desperately, as if trying to pour every restless feeling from the past two days into that single connection.

Moon’s lips parted further under the pressure. For some unknown reason, he didn’t want to push him. He didn’t want to see that depressed face again.

A small sound escaped him when Nox sucked harder on his tongue.

"Nn... Nox—"

Heat spread between them fast.

Nox’s hips pressed down once, involuntarily as he kissed even deeper, tongue sliding against Moon’s.

Ummph

Slurp

Moon’s fingers moved from Nox’s collar to his shoulders, gripping him tightly.

His body arched slightly under the weight.

Nox’s free hand slid down as his palm pressed against Moon’s waist, pulling him closer.

Their breaths mixed in a hot mess.

Nox didn’t want to stop; his heart was burning. He could not ask, and he could not leave.

The trapped soul is more pitiful than a destroyed one.

Nox’s amber eyes were half-lidded, full of yearning as he sucked on Moon’s lower lip again, then pushed back inside for another deep exploration of his tongue.

"Mooney..." he whispered against his mouth.

"Don’t leave me behind. I miss you... just a little more..."

His body pressed down on Moon. He wanted to lift Moon’s thigh and wrap around him to press deeper, but his passion suddenly jumbled up.

A violent, exaggerated cough exploded right above them.

"Ahem!"

"Ahem!"

"AHEM!"

Nox froze mid-kiss.

Lips still pressed against Moon’s. Tongue still halfway inside. His waist was still about to give a thrust.

His amber eyes snapped open in pure irritation.

He pulled back just enough to speak, voice husky and frustrated.

"Damn it... Can’t you pretend not to see?"

Lupine floated in front of them, arms crossed, beard twitching with clear amusement.

He made no effort to look away.

"Why pretend when I can see clearly?"

The old spirit scoffed.

Then, just to be more annoying, he drifted even closer until he was hovering right over their faces.

Nox’s jaw clenched.

He still had one hand buried in Moon’s hair and his body half-pressed over him.

"No tact at all," Nox muttered under his breath. "You could just leave for a while," Nox mumbled.

Lupine only scoffed and waved his hand. "We have work. No fooling around."

He floated a few steps away, giving them just enough space to sit up and fix their clothes.

Nox still looked aggrieved.

His lips were slightly red, and his amber eyes carried clear dissatisfaction.

"Why is it only when it’s my turn that you all suddenly remember work?" he grumbled.

Moon couldn’t help it.

He laughed out loud, the sound light and genuine.

Seeing Nox sulking and pouting like that somehow made the heavy feeling in his chest ease a little.

He reached out, ruffled Nox’s hair roughly, then patted his head twice.

"Okay, okay. Let’s go."

Nox’s ears turned a faint red, but he didn’t pull away.

Moon stood up and held out both hands.

Nox took one.

Axe, who had been pretending to be busy with his forging the entire time, walked over and took the other.

Within a few breaths, the three of them stepped out of the Lupine Palace and into the quiet, dark courtyard of their Malong City adobe.

The night was silent.

Only the soft glow of lamps came from the main house where Marina and the others were staying.

Axe cracked his knuckles and scanned the perimeter.

"Where do we place the core anchors?"

Lupine flew out, his translucent figure hovering above them.

"At the four corners of the wall," he said.

He handed the jade formation plate to Nox.

"You drew the line, so you activate the center anchor right here under the tree."

Moon looked at the two plates in their hands.

One was the low-grade array Nox had just refined. The other was the mid-grade Phantom Mist Maze Array Lupine had given them.

"How do we activate yours?" Moon asked.

"Let Nox activate his first," Lupine answered.

"We will use his formation as the foundation and insert mine as a secondary layer. With his current soul power, he can’t drive mine alone."

Moon nodded. "Um."

Nox’s eyes lit up with eagerness.

He ran straight to the middle of the courtyard, crouched down, and pressed the formation plate deep into the soil.

His newly trained inscription knowledge and soul energy poured straight into the jade.

At the same time, he used his earth attribute to burrow and melt the surrounding dirt.

In just one breath, the plate disappeared completely under the ground.

Moon moved to the four corners.

His enhanced soul power mapped out the nodes cleanly.

He threw four high-grade spirit stones into the designated spots one after another.

Hissss...

A sudden, thick white fog erupted from the ground.

It swallowed the entire courtyard, the stone walls, and the main gate in seconds.

From the outside, the house still looked completely normal. Anyone with permission could walk in without trouble.

But if someone without permission tried to step closer, they would first receive a sharp shock as a warning, and Moon’s group would get an immediate signal.

If they still refused to turn back, the second layer would trigger—the fart poison.

For the next two days, the intruder would be farting nonstop.

And if they forced their way past the threshold anyway, the final layer would activate.

They would be trapped in an endless loop of distorting white mist.

Axe, of course, walked straight into the fog to test it.

He immediately tripped over a root.

"Fuck—!"

His face twisted as a strange, high-pitched clown-like cackle echoed right beside his ear.

A small, illusory phantom of a cross-eyed wolf danced in front of his nose before vanishing.

"What the fuck is this?" Axe cursed, rubbing his shin as he stumbled backward.

"Why does the mist sound like it’s mocking me?"

Lupine’s laughter burst out from the array plate, loud and unrestrained.

"I told you it’s fun!

Any intruder who tries to sneak inside will not only get lost—they will also be blasted with absolute humiliation.

The array will dig out their deepest, most embarrassing fears and play them out loud the whole time they stay inside!"
