The Mafia Lord Forgotten Bride

Chapter 6: Something is different.

After spending three more days in the hospital, Rauf was finally discharged.

The hospital bed had been more boring to him than he expected, and Amie had forbidden him from bringing work to his sickbed.

Finally, he was going home and couldn’t wait to see what his home now looked like after five years. But he had a feeling he was going to love it.

Though he was blind, he had done a lot of things in that home with his wife. Things he finally wanted to see face-to-face.

"Darling, I hired a new interior decorator to change the look of your room. You’ll love it," Amie said as she led him towards the room.

Instead of a smile, a frown occupied Rauf’s face.

What did she mean by his room?

It should be their room. She had promised to move fully in after his surgery was successful. But he kept quiet.

For the past three days at the hospital, Rauf had resorted to eating the hospital’s meals. No matter how Aime had prepared the food, it just didn’t taste the same way it did when he was blind.

It was as if Amie couldn’t prepare the same meals anymore, or she wasn’t the one who had been preparing those meals for him.

But he hoped now that he was back at home, everything would go back to the way they used to be.

The amount of grey in the room made Rauf step back for a bit. He turned towards Amie. "What is this?"

She beamed. "You love it, right?" she questioned. "I know that you’ll love it. Look at how perfect it is. I told the interior decorator about you and the eye surgery, and she suggested you’d love grey. She said you don’t need to look at something too bright."

She sounded proud of herself and blinked at Rauf as if she was expecting him to praise her for the perfect welcome-home design.

Rauf frowned at her. "I hate grey."

Slowly, the smile slipped from her lips. She bit her lips and stared at him like a rat caught in a trap. "I’m sorry, darling. I honestly had no idea. I’ll call the interior decorator to change the colour and design."

Rauf blinked at her.

How could she?

How could she forget he hated grey?

He could remember vividly one of the conversations they had when he was blind.

"What’s your favourite colour?" she had asked him, teasing his lips with hers. But she didn’t allow him to kiss her.

It was her favourite way of questioning him. If he responded well, he would be rewarded with a kiss.

"Blue," he responded.

She laughed and kissed him. Then she pulled back. "I wasn’t expecting that, honestly. I thought you would mention black or grey."

Rauf tensed, his voice suddenly cold. "I hate black. It’s all I can see now, and that makes me hate the colour. And grey looks close to black. I hate them both."

Then, he felt her hand on his chin as she slowly lifted his chin up for a deep kiss.

Rauf felt as if he could kiss her forever. The way her soft lips blended perfectly with his. It was unlike anything he had ever experienced.

"I promise you’ll never see black or grey in this house."

He turned to Amie.

How could she forget such a memory so easily?

Amie’s heart beat fast. She could tell that something was brewing in his head. In the information she got, there was nothing about him hating grey.

She couldn’t have messed up so fast.

Wanting to fix her mess, she glanced through her purse and brought out a small red box.

Thankfully, she had prepared this ahead.

Ever since Rauf had mentioned the gift at the hospital, she had gone in search of something perfect that would suit his image.

The look of confusion temporarily left his eyes as his gaze fell on the box.

"What’s this?" he asked.

Amie smiled. Finally, she was doing something right.

"Your gift?"

A smile tugged at his lips. "Really?"

She nodded.

Eager to see what she had gotten him, he opened the box. Inside sat a thick ring with his initials. RS.

Rauf blinked at it.

It wasn’t what he was expecting.

The frown was back on his face. "What’s this?"

Amie smiled. "The gift I promised you for your successful surgery."

Something was wrong.

The wife he thought he knew was different from the woman acting in front of him.

Or could it be that something happened to her?

He closed the box and thanked her while casually dropping it in his pocket.

Satisfied that he accepted her gift, Amie stood on her toes, wanting to plant a kiss on his lips.

Rauf smiled.

He had missed the softness of her lips against his.

As he closed his lips around hers, he closed his eyes, wanting to savour it like he did when he was blind.

Though she might have messed everything else up, there was no way her kiss would be different.

But as soon as her lips closed on his, he suddenly pushed back, creating a distance between them.

Shocked, Amie tried to stand upright. "What’s wrong?"

The question that threatened to leave Rauf’s lips was, "Who are you?"

But he remained quiet.

He knew who she was supposed to be.

This was supposed to be Amie Trevor Salvador. The lady he had always had a crush on since he was young. The one he was finally able to get married to after building his empire.

The woman who supposedly took care of him for the past five years. The one who knew him more than anyone else could. And the person he believed he knew with all his senses.

Except, she didn’t seem like the person he knew with his senses.

She looked exactly like how he had imagined her to be and how she was supposed to look like. Except his senses refused to recognize her anymore.

Who the hell was she?
