The Mafia Lord Forgotten Bride
Chapter 33: Cheat
"He’s a nice guy. He’s someone you know; Rauf Salvador."
The food lost all it’s flavor in Chris’s mouth as he stared at Amie. "Rauf Salvador?"
Amie nodded eagerly. "Rauf and I have been married for five years now. Everyone in Kansas knows even my father."
Chris could feel the anger brimming in him, but according to the training he had, he was always trying to supress his anger. "Do you mean the same Rauf that brought you and your father here?"
"Yes." The eagerness was slipping from Amie’s tone now.
She could see that Chris didn’t share the eagerness with her.
Did something happened between Rauf and Chris?
Does Chris hate Rauf or something?
She couldn’t think of any other reason he wouldn’t be happy with her announcement? As far as she knew, they were close.
"Is something wrong, Chris?" Serena asked. She could feel that Chris wasn’t happy with the announcement.
Instead of the response they demanded, he pushed the meal out of his way. "I think I am okay." He turned to his mother. "Thank you, mother. I have some business to deal with."
Without looking Amie in the eyes, he moved away from the dining room.
What game was Rauf playing with him?
Not quite long he had just got off the phone with Rauf asking him to find his wife for him.
The wife he mentioned was one June and not Amie.
Was the bastard cheating on his sister?
Chris retreated into his office and not the room. He sent a message to his personal assistant.
’I want the location of Rauf’s hotel.’
He sat behind the desk.
How would Amie feel when she knew he was cheating on her with some other woman?
The possibility of it being true boiled in his blood.
His phone pinged with the address of the hotel his personal assistant had gotten him.
He picked his car key and his favourite teaser. He loved it more than using weapon.
By the time he opened the door to his office, Amie was standing at the door as if she was about to come in just before he opened the door.
He kept the teaser well hidden behind him.
"Where’s mother?"
"I took her to her room."
Silence.
"Is something wrong, brother?" Her voice calm, the direct opposite of her usual voice.
Amie had decided to be the perfect daughter for the Vassari. Even if they ended up finding out she was not really their daughter, they would be too attach to her to throw her off. And because of that, she had decided to inhabit what she consider a good character.
And even a better voice.
Chris placed his hand in his pocket. The urge to hit something was much. Yet, he forced a smile at Amie. "Nothing. I’m fine."
Amie looked around him. "You didn’t finish your dinner and now you’re going out." Her gaze darted to the clock beside the wall. "It’s late."
Before he could tell himself that Amie wasn’t a little girl, his hand ruffled her hair. "Come on, baby sister. I think you should go rest. I have some business to deal with."
"But..."
He tugged her a little. "Come on, you need all the rest you can. Let me hint you something. The plans mother have for you are not little. Soon you’ll find yourself being pushed about with no time to rest. It’s better you rest now before it’s too late."
And then again, he left her standing there as he moved out of the way.
Some of the guards moved beside Chris ready to follow him out.
They knew it wasn’t common for him to leave the house that late. If he was leaving around that time, then he was going with some members.
But, Chris raised his hand to stop them. "This is a personal matter."
Reluctantly, the guards moved back, taking back their position.
Chris got into his car, and drove out in high speed. The more he thought of it, the angrier he got.
To think he had just gotten his sister back and to witness her going through heartbreak. It was totally uncalled for.
Within five minutes, he was already at the hotel. The receptionist who wouldn’t dare stop him was quick to give him the number of Rauf’s room. He got into the private elevator and was soon on his way to the penthouse.
The closer he got to the penthouse, the more the anger in him kept increasing. He had thought it would shimmer but it didn’t.
His biological father was nothing but a cheat, and that had led to his biological mothers death. If there was anything Chris hated so much, it was cheaters.
He pressed the door to the penthouse, and as soon as the door opened his fist collided with Rauf’s face sending him into a backwards stagger.
Rauf clutched his face, he hadn’t expected it at all.
But before the person could make another attempt to hit him, he was already guarding his face with his fist balled in a counter attack.
Does anyone had anything against him? And how could the hotel security let just anyone into the vicinity.
By the time he looked at the man before him, he slowly lowered his fist, only to be hit by Chris again.
Chris who wanted to hit him the third time was suddenly stopped when a hand pulled his back.
Henson had heard the noise and had rushed over to Rauf’s penthouse, only to see Chris trying to smash his boss face all in.
Rauf held onto his face. It looked like his nose was broken, and he had a black eyes. But apart from that, his mouth was still working well.
.
Chris really did have a mean hook.
"What’s that about?" He asked. "Is this how you pay me back for finding your sister?"
At the mention of this sister, Chris struggled in Henson’s hand. He almost freed himself, before Henson pulled him back again, with all his strength this time as he was panting loudly. .
"Don’t you dare talk about my sister, you cheat?" Chris yelled.
Silence.
Rauf stared at Chris. He hadn’t known him personally, but he had never heard of the Junox Mafia being aggressive before. But it just go a long way to prove you can’t rely on rumors.
"Cheat?" He tired to recall what he could have done to receive such name from him. "I know I have been faithful with our deal. If there’s any cheat here, you are. You’re yet to fulfil our part of the deal."
Chris had stopped shaking in Henson’s hand. "You still have the guts to speak about some deal? You’re cheating on my fucking sister."
The words echoed in the room repeatedly. Rauf stood still listening to the tick of the clock as his gaze moved back to Chris.
"Amie told you we are married?"
"Of course. Do you expect her to hide that from her family?"
Rauf shook his head.
With the games Amie was playing, he never expected she was going to tell Chris anything.
He had expected she was going to keep it a secret, but it seemed the excitment of seeing her family was more than keeping a secret.
Rauf signaled for Henson to let go off Chris.
Immediately he was freed, Chris flexed his hand but made no move to hit Rauf again.
He moved to the closest seat and dropped on it. "Have you being playing two women?"
Rauf shook his head. "This is a personal matter, but I can assure you I am not cheating on your sister in anyway."
"Then is it true you’ve been legally married for five years"
Rauf pinched his nose. "Well, if it’s the name on the certificate, I can say yes. It’s true."
Chris nodded.
"And you’re looking for a woman called June. You mentioned she’s your wife."
Rauf nodded. "Yes. But it’s a long story."
"I think I am willing to listen to it."
"It’s a personal matter."
"Not when it’s involving my sister. I want to know every little about her and that involve her cheating husband."
"Fine. It you want to know, I’ll tell you what I know about it."
He waved Henson off. Henson bowed to them both before leaving the room.
Chris’s gaze followed Henson until he was out of the room.
"Speak."
Then he told him about how he had planned on marrying Amie, the accident, how he had gone blind. The supposed marriage with Amie for five years and how he had fallen in love during the marriage, way more than the crush.
He didn’t mention that Samir was his enemy. Or that he had intended on getting married to Amie as a punishment to Samir.
Then he said how he had regained his sight. And how he had sent June away after she claimed to be his wife. Then how he noticed the little difference between his wife when he was blind and when he was not.
"So, I need to find June to know the truth."
Chris had listened without interrupting. "So, are you saying my sister is a liar."
