The Mafia Lord Forgotten Bride
Chapter 146: Samir Vs Elena
"You want me to spy on my father?" Gerald asked, his voice rising in a way Amie had never heard before.
Amie nodded, still holding Gerald’s gaze.
If her father decided to keep secrets from her, then she had to find out whatever he was hiding herself.
She waited for Gerald’s response, but all he did was look down as if he was finding it hard to decide what he wanted to do.
Amie moved closer to the edge of the bed.
"Who do you think can pay you better? My father or me?"
Gerald knew her father’s business was collapsing at the moment, and the only one who had been reviving it was Amie.
"Ma’am, I don’t know." Gerald’s voice came out smaller this time, as if he was afraid to speak. "Boss doesn’t deal nicely with anyone who betrays him."
That, Amie already knew.
"Are you going to make it obvious that you’re betraying him?" she questioned, raising a brow. "My father doesn’t have to know what’s happening. And I can change your whole life more than my father can."
Gerald stared at Amie. From the way she was focused on him, he could tell that she wouldn’t take no for an answer, so instead, he nodded.
"Of course, ma’am. I’ll make sure to bring back valuable information."
Amie felt her blood rushing through her veins. This was the first time she was acting against her father.
And knowing her father, he wouldn’t spare her just because she was his daughter.
Just to convince Gerald that she was the better choice, Amie pulled open one of her drawers. She had been keeping a secret stash in there in case she needed money.
She pulled out a bundle and gave Gerald a tight smile.
"Keep this for now. When you bring back something valuable, I’ll give you something better."
Gerald bowed to her.
"Thank you, ma’am."
Samir lifted the bottle of wine in front of him and drank from it without bothering with a glass.
His wife was drowning him in one of her speeches about wanting to see Amie.
Ever since she had been dragged out of the introduction party, she wouldn’t reason with Samir on any topic.
She had called him all sorts of names and threatened to cut ties with him.
As if Samir cared about any of that.
He would be pleased if she could leave so he could focus on someone better.
Probably Serena.
He knew how crazy Serena had been about him in the past. Maybe she might give him another chance to be in her life.
The ringing of his phone cut off his wife’s lamenting.
Samir picked up the phone and stared at the caller.
Elena.
A creeping smile curled across his face.
Finally, some good news.
"Shut up, woman!" he screamed at his wife, making her go quiet momentarily.
Samir picked up his phone and left the room in case she decided to resume her shouting.
"Good day, Elena. Any good news?"
Instead of the warm welcome he expected, Elena shouted at him over the phone.
"What did you tell your daughter?"
Samir frowned.
"What do you mean?"
Annoyed, Elena narrated Amie’s visit to him.
As he listened to her, Samir stared at nothing in particular, but his hand moved toward the object closest to him and threw it onto the floor.
How could Amie make a move behind his back?
Everything he was doing was all for her sake, but she dared to do something as huge as this without informing him.
When he didn’t say anything, Elena continued.
"Keep Amie away from me. I might support her being with Rauf, but I won’t tolerate her threatening me."
Samir pinched the bridge of his nose.
He didn’t have the right words to appease her.
So instead, he changed the topic.
"What do you intend to do about the divorce?"
Elena’s voice, which had been high moments ago, suddenly dropped.
"Samir, Rauf doesn’t listen to me the way he used to."
Now, it was Samir raising his voice.
"How would you like Rauf finding out the truth?"
"You know that’s not the truth, Samir. I don’t know where you got that evidence from, but I had no hand in the issue."
Samir smirked.
He had gotten the evidence purely out of sheer luck, but he had never played the full video for Elena.
He had only sent her part of it, and since then, she had panicked and started obeying his every word.
She had temporarily forgotten the hatred she had toward him.
"That’s none of my business, Elena. If you don’t find a solution to this, I promise you Rauf will be watching the video soon."
"Don’t you dare!" Elena snapped. "You don’t get to speak to me that way, Samir. But I’ll see what I can do."
Samir had no plans of showing Rauf the video.
He knew Rauf wouldn’t entertain anything from him. But then again, showing him the video was equivalent to losing his hold over Elena.
It was a golden opportunity he wasn’t ready to let go of.
Samir ended the call and returned to the room.
His wife immediately started talking again, but this time, he barely heard a word she said.
His mind was on Amie.
He needed to find out exactly how much she knew before she ruined everything he had carefully put in place.
Just one wrong action from Amie, and all his plans could come crashing down.
That, he wasn’t going to allow.
Even if she was his daughter.
Outside the house, Gerald sat in his car, staring at the building.
He had followed Samir’s movements several times in the past, but those had always been on Samir’s orders.
This time was different.
He pulled out the bundle of money Amie had given him and stared at it for a moment.
Samir was dangerous.
But Amie was now a Vassari.
Gerald slipped the money back into his pocket.
For now, he didn’t need to choose between father and daughter.
He only needed to find out what Samir was hiding.
And then he would decide who deserved to know.
