The Mafia Lord Forgotten Bride

Chapter 119: Amie’s victory

  • Next Chapter

Amie wasn’t going to spend another day sitting downstairs like an ordinary employee.

If getting her biometrics registered was what she needed to have access to the rest of the company, then that was exactly what she was going to do.

She left Lamie and Karen behind and headed for the private elevator.

This time, she wasn’t going back to her desk. She didn’t stop until she got to the executive office floor.

Pushing herself forward, she went straight to the secretary’s desk.

"I want to see Chris Vassari."

A young bespectacled woman sat at the desk, her hands hovering over the keyboard.

"Do you have an appointment with him?"

Amie frowned at her. "I don’t need one to see him."

The woman continued typing, ignoring Amie.

Amie tapped her desk. "Excuse me!"

The woman looked up at her again. "I’m sorry, ma’am. But you can’t see him without an appointment."

Amie could feel her anger flaring up.

This was all Chris’s fault. If only he had given her a good position in the company, someone like the company’s secretary wouldn’t be talking to her in this manner.

"I don’t need an appointment to see him because I am his sister."

That got the secretary’s attention.

It was no news that the Vassaris had recently found their long-lost daughter, but since Chris hadn’t introduced Amie to the secretary, she had no idea who she was.

She scurried to her feet. "I’m sorry, ma’am. I had no idea who you were."

Before she could inform Chris, Amie had already opened the door.

Chris’s gaze slowly moved towards the door, his phone pressed to his ear.

"I’ll call you back," he said into the phone as his gaze settled on Amie.

Amie walked slowly into the office, appreciating how big it was. There was a private sofa, a refrigerator, a television and even a door that might lead to a private toilet.

This was exactly what Amie had imagined her office was going to look like when she heard she was being given a place at the company.

She settled herself in front of Chris with a smile.

Chris frowned. Amie’s presence in his office made him furrow his brows.

"What do you want?"

Amie looked around. "Nice office."

Chris looked around as if he was seeing his office for the first time. He wasn’t usually in this office and mostly preferred to work from home.

But his mother had insisted he come in until Amie was fully settled here.

"Thanks."

"It would have been nice if I got something similar to this."

Chris pinched his nose.

Now, she wasn’t even trying to hide her greediness.

"Why are you here?"

Amie relaxed in the chair.

There was no need to beat around the bush.

"I want my biometrics registered in the company’s security system."

"Why?" Chris asked as if it was the most boring request he had ever received.

"Because I deserve it," Amie responded matter-of-factly. "I’m Mother’s daughter. Why shouldn’t I have access to places ordinary employees of the company do?"

Chris stared at her, trying to figure out how she had found out about the biometric system in just two days.

Maybe he was underestimating her more than he should.

"You can have your biometrics registered, but you can’t have the level of clearance you’re asking for," he responded after a while.

Annoyed, Amie slammed her hand on the desk.

"Why can’t I have that?" she shouted.

And without waiting for Chris’s response, she continued.

"You know what? Just forget about it. I know you’ve been denying me everything because I’m against you hooking up with that bitch."

Chris remained calm, but his hand balled into a fist.

If it wasn’t for his mother keeping up this facade for whatever reason, he would have dealt with Amie from the very beginning.

"Don’t worry. I should have known better than to think you would choose your own sister over that bitch."

Before Chris could utter a word, she turned around and left the office.

Amie was still seething when she left.

She didn’t bother going back to the department. Instead, she left the company and drove home.

Being the heiress had put her in danger, so why couldn’t she seem to enjoy the benefits too?

She drove angrily back to the mansion, ignoring the guard trying to get her attention.

All her mind and attention were fixed on one place.

Serena’s room.

Amie moved with speed as she went to Serena’s room and pounded on the door. Without waiting for a response, she opened it.

She froze.

Serena was looking directly at her.

But before Amie could confirm what she had seen, Serena looked away and picked up her glasses.

"Mother." Amie’s voice was suddenly small. "Can you see me?"

Immediately, Serena chuckled.

"I wish, darling. I really wish I could see you."

Amie stared at her doubtfully but soon came to the conclusion that there was no way Serena would be pretending not to see her.

She had no reason to pretend.

"Mother, I need to report Brother to you," Amie started, taking a seat beside Serena as she linked her arm with Serena’s.

"Why? Did he do something to you?"

Amie nodded, then she started crying.

"I think Brother hates me. And it’s all because of June."

Serena sighed.

It was always June’s fault.

"Why would you say that? Your brother loves you just as much as I do."

"Then why doesn’t he show it?"

"Maybe he just doesn’t know how to show his feelings."

Amie paused for a moment.

"But he shows it well where June is concerned. Even though she’s pregnant with a bastard, Brother seems obsessed with her."

Serena forced a chuckle.

"I’m sure you’re just imagining things. Chris cares for you. You’re his only sister. Why wouldn’t he care about you?"

Amie paused, blinking her lashes.

"Then why wouldn’t he give me access to the company’s biometric security?"

Serena stared at the girl before her.

"You want to add your biometrics to the company’s security system?"

"Yes, Mother. Even the company’s staff have access to it."

Serena smirked.

"Fine. If that’s what you want, then you’re going to be added to the company’s biometric security system."
