Iris was waiting when he reached the Nova residential bridge.

She simply stood under the night crystal light with her cloak drawn close and her Grimoire at her hip, as if she had known the exact moment he would leave Selene’s chamber.

"You’re late," she said.

"I came straight here."

Iris’s violet eyes moved over him once—slow, assessing, missing nothing. Whatever she saw in his posture or the faint residual cold clinging to his skin made her mouth tighten a fraction.

"Her scent is still on you," she said quietly. "Frost. At least you’re not trying to hide it."

Arthur did not insult her with denial.

"You said to come when I was finished."

"I did." Iris turned and started walking. "Not here. Too many eyes."

He followed.

She led him through a side route most students ignored, down a narrow maintenance stair, and into a disused observation alcove that overlooked the lower cloud layer. Privacy wards flickered to life as she closed the grated door. The space was small, cold, and private enough.

Iris stood with her back to him for a long moment, hands braced on the stone railing. When she spoke again her voice was controlled, but the control had cracks.

"I knew," she said. "Even before you confirmed it. The way she looks at you. The way your Codex carries more than one permanent resonance. I told myself I could accept it because the alternative was losing what we sealed in the crater." She turned. Her eyes were bright and sharp. "Acceptance and enjoyment are not the same thing, Arthur. I am jealous. I dislike sharing. I dislike that she had you first tonight."

Arthur met her gaze without flinching.

"I told her the truth about you. She told me to come to you before departure. No secrets. That was her condition. It’s mine too."

Iris studied him. The jealousy did not vanish, but it settled into something tighter and more focused—possessive rather than destructive.

"Good," she said. "Because if you had lied to either of us, this would have ended differently."

She stepped into his space, gripped the front of his coat, and kissed him hard.

There was nothing tentative in it. Iris kissed like she was reclaiming ground. Arthur answered with equal force, backing her against the stone wall of the alcove.

She made a low sound into his mouth and bit his lower lip. His hands found the clasp of her cloak and shoved it off her shoulders. Underneath she wore simple sleeping clothes that did nothing to hide the shape of her body.

"I am not her," Iris said against his mouth, breath uneven. "I want to feel that you are here with me—not comparing, not measuring, not thinking about frost."

"I’m not."

"Prove it."

Arthur yanked her sleeping top upward. Iris lifted her arms to help. Her breasts were pale and full in the low light, nipples already tight from cold and adrenaline.

He closed his mouth around one and sucked hard. Iris’s head thudded back against the stone with a sharp, broken moan. Her fingers tangled in his hair and held him there.

He gave the same attention to the other breast, teeth grazing, tongue circling, until she was shifting restlessly against him.

Only then did he drag her sleeping pants and undergarment down in one motion. Iris kicked them free. She was already slick when his fingers stroked through her folds.

The evidence of how little resistance her body offered pulled a dark satisfaction through him.

"You’re wet," he said.

"I have been thinking about this since the plaza," Iris admitted, voice rough. "About you leaving her chamber and coming to me. About whether you would still want me when you were full of her. I hate that I wondered."

Arthur lifted her. Iris wrapped her legs around his waist immediately. He freed himself, lined up, and drove into her in one hard thrust.

Iris cried out.

She was tight and hot and perfect. The dungeon had not been gentle; tonight he did not pretend to be either.

Arthur fucked her against the stone wall with deep, punishing strokes, one hand gripping her ass, the other braced beside her head. Iris clung to him and met every thrust, nails digging into his shoulders, mouth open against his neck.

"Harder," she demanded. "I want to feel it tomorrow when I am sitting in formal briefings pretending I am untouched."

He gave it to her.

The wet sound of their joining filled the small alcove. Iris’s breasts bounced with every impact. Her violet eyes stayed open and locked on his, fever-bright with jealousy and need and the stubborn refusal to be secondary.

Arthur angled deeper and watched her expression break when he hit the right spot. She came with a raw, startled moan, clenching hard around him, thighs shaking.

He did not stop.

Arthur carried her to the low stone bench along the wall, pulled out only long enough to turn her and bend her forward over it, then thrust back in from behind.

Iris gasped and gripped the edge of the bench. The new angle let him go deeper. He fucked her in hard, steady strokes while one hand reached around to rub tight circles over her clit. Iris pushed back to meet him, all pride and polish stripped away until only hunger remained.

"She’s going to want you again before we leave," Iris panted. "I know she will. I do not care. You will come to me too. You will leave marks that belong to me. Clear?"

"Clear—" Arthur’s voice roughened as her body tightened again. "Take what you want. I’m here."

Iris came a second time with a broken cry, collapsing forward onto her forearms as the climax ripped through her.

The way she pulsed around him dragged Arthur over the edge with her. He buried himself to the hilt and spilled deep inside her, forehead pressed to her spine, breathing hard against her skin.

For a long moment the only sound in the alcove was their uneven breathing and the faint hum of the privacy wards.

Arthur eased out. Iris straightened slowly, turned, and sat on the bench without bothering to cover herself. Seed trickled down her thigh; she glanced at it with a complicated expression that sat somewhere between satisfaction and residual jealousy. Then she looked up at him.

"I meant what I said," she murmured. "I will not demand exclusivity. Not after the crater. Not after the print. But I will not be quiet about my claim either. If she leaves marks, I leave deeper ones. If she takes time, I take time. Balance, Arthur. Or this becomes a war neither of us has the energy to fight cleanly."

Arthur brushed dark-blue hair back from her face.

"I already agreed to no secrets with her. The same applies here. Balance. No ranking you against each other like trophies."

Iris searched his eyes. Whatever she found there eased something tight in her shoulders. She leaned forward and kissed him again—slower this time, less combat, more confirmation.

"Good," she said against his mouth. "Because the next days are going to be messy. And I am not finished with you tonight."

She pulled him down onto the bench with her.

The second round was less frantic and more deliberate. Iris straddled him, hands braced on his chest, and rode him with focused, rolling hips while she watched his face.

Every time his attention seemed to drift she tightened around him or bit his shoulder hard enough to sting. She wanted presence. She wanted proof.

Arthur gave her both, gripping her waist and thrusting up to meet her until she came again with a trembling moan and collapsed against his chest.

Afterward they sat together under the cloak she had discarded, bodies cooling, the cloud layer stretching endlessly below the alcove.

Iris rested her head against his shoulder.

"Five days," she said quietly. "Then random groups and whatever the academy thinks we need to learn the hard way. I dislike that I will not be able to see whether you are still alive until the missions end."

"Then we use the days," Arthur answered. "Cleanly. Without lies."

Iris exhaled and closed her eyes.

"Without lies," she agreed.

Outside the wards, the academy continued its night rotation.

Inside the small stone alcove, the second of the two claims settled into place beside the first—jealous, pragmatic, and real.
