The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast
Chapter 2097: The Mysterious Lady of the Ninth Heaven Makes Things Worse
"Then I’ll make my move."
The Emperor nodded, "Please, Mysterious Lady, give it your all."
"I will."
Nine blooming lotus flowers appeared beneath the feet of the Mysterious Lady of the Ninth Heaven, each lotus separating into nine petals and rising. She sang ancient chants with complex Sanskrit incantations, while a Seven-stringed Zither appeared in her hands. As she played, waves of visible light headed for the rift.
The light waves formed into strings, resembling zither strings.
It seemed like an attempt to sew up the rift in the Realm. Initially, it appeared effective, like stitching a wound bit by bit. But within three breaths’ time, the light-string threads snapped, as the wound split open again, now wider than before!
It was as if a giant eye had gone from being a slit to half-open.
The Emperor furrowed his brows deeply, "Mysterious Lady of the Ninth Heaven, you may stop."
The Mysterious Lady flicked her sleeve, and both the Seven-stringed Zither and the lotuses vanished into thin air.
"Emperor, I apologize, it was beyond my ability."
The Emperor gave her a faint look, "The Mysterious Lady of the Ninth Heaven is not one to lack talent. You see, didn’t you achieve quite a significant effect?"
The Mysterious Lady detected the sarcasm in his words and decided not to linger, turning to leave.
"Wait."
She paused, her beautiful brows knitted, "What does the Emperor mean?"
"Who told you of the rift in this realm?"
"No one needed to tell me."
"You mean to say, you calculated it yourself?"
Little Taotie had been waiting outside the rest area for a long time. She knew Huahua’s sudden proposal would shock the five brothers and they would definitely give him a hard time.
But hasn’t it been too long?
She looked at the watch’s hands, her brows slightly furrowed.
When the hands stopped at midnight, Little Taotie felt a sudden tug at her heart, a brief stifling sensation.
"Creak—"
The door opened.
Cheng Guodong’s lips trembled as he struggled to speak, "Tao Shen, Tao Bin... gone."
Little Taotie stumbled into the rest area, seeing the two lying on the ground, limbs stiff, their faces deathly pale.
Hua Jinyan had already contacted the doctor, who would arrive soon.
However... he had already checked the two and found no signs of life.
If what the two had said before their deaths was true, it must have been their souls summoned away, thus leading to their instant demise.
After a series of resuscitation efforts, the doctor finally shook his head at the Tao Family’s members.
Little Taotie hid at the door, unsure how to face her elderly grandfather and grandmother.
Hua Jinyan took her hand and led her to the hospital rooftop.
The night sky was filled with dense clouds, obscuring the moonlight. The dark night was silent and suffocating.
Suddenly, a gentle drizzle began.
Little Taotie didn’t seem inclined to avoid the rain; instead, she calmed down because of it.
The icy rain hit her face, and it was hard to tell if it was rain or tears on her cheeks. The droplets slid from the corners of her eyes, tracing her delicate features downward, soaking the gauzy dress she wore.
Hua Jinyan hurriedly took off his coat, draping it over her shoulders, his voice hoarse as he urged, "Get out of the rain?"
Little Taotie shook her head, instead lifting her face, allowing the rain to strike it, hoping it would pour harder, into a heavy downpour.
"They... just returned to the Heavenly Emperor."
"You’ve said that just a moment ago."
"But you haven’t moved on."
Little Taotie turned to look at him, her eyes filled with sorrow, "I need some time to come to terms. Rationally, I know they’ve just returned to the Heavenly Emperor, the Three Souls united. But emotionally, to me, my two dear brothers have passed away."
