The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!
Chapter 2112 Purging the Family (Part 5)
He was not his sister, requiring Colin's comfort.
As a mature ruler, he was always aware of what he needed, and that brief melancholy was more of a farewell to past glory.
Duke Campbell had realized that the fate of the Campbell Duchy must and can only be in the hands of the Campbell people themselves.
Counting on the Divine or the Emperor to do something would eventually result in "correct yet useless" complaints and curses.
To this day, many in Thunder City still hope for Saint Xi or the Imperial to do something.
People walking in the fog can hold on to such naive comforts, but as the master of the Campbell Duchy, he could not be as naive as them.
Thankfully, he hadn't relied on the Imperial before either.
Looking at the re-energized Duke Campbell, the corners of Luo Yan's mouth revealed a barely perceptible smile of relief.
A strategic and ambitious ally is exactly what Lord Demon King needed.
Horns blared across the front lines one after the other, and in the following week, the mountain troops of the Campbell Duchy and the Dragon Descendants of the Gutaf Kingdom launched wave after wave of fierce assaults.
Ever since the players discovered that the Ratmen's poison gas was flammable, they immediately devised a new strategy to raid the Ratman Nest.
The method was simple.
Draw lots to select a lucky skeleton soldier, then charge in carrying a Molotov cocktail and oil barrels.
The only drawback was that the explosive effect of the gas was too intense in enclosed spaces, causing several paths vital to advancing the Great Tomb to be blown up, requiring Engineering Spiders for emergency construction.
Later, the server outright banned this offbeat tactic, forbidding players from using a sacrificial strategy as a shortcut.
Most of the time, the Ratmen were utterly powerless in the face of the Undead Army at the Great Tomb, only when Alchemy Golems and Sewn Rats appeared did the battles become tense.
At that time, using an offbeat strategy could wait; there wasn't any need to needlessly burden the logistics just to blow up a few minor rats.
Within a week, the Three Races Alliance Army advanced nearly a hundred kilometers, finally meeting at the summit of Hot Spring Peak.
The region was rich in geothermal resources, the smell of sulfur lingered in the air, and white steam gushed from the crevices in the rocks.
It was indeed a prime location.
Seeing the Lizardmen frolicking in the hot springs, the players portraying undead showed expressions of envy one after another.
Eventually, someone couldn't hold back any longer, charged forward with envy and resentment.
"Dang! Why are you blocking me? I want to go in too!" One Mouthful of Chemical Pool cried with a creaky and crunching shout, desperately trying to dive into the hot springs, but was stopped by other players around him.
Dragon Roaming Baili: "What the hell are you trying to do? Stop it!"
Child of Gourd: "What's an undead doing in the hustle? Once you've soaked in it, will it still be usable?!"
One Mouthful of Chemical Pool: "Dang! You're an undead too, why are you blocking me?!"
Child of Gourd: "I'm going to become an Enchanting Demon sooner or later, you tell me why I'm blocking you?!"
One Mouthful of Chemical Pool: "???"
Dragon Roaming Wanli: "Hahaha, soaking in a game feels so good, Qianli, come in too."
Dragon Roaming Qianli: "...I'm undead, I'll pass."
Mi Xi yawned while sitting on a rock pedestal.
Through the Translation Crystal hanging around her neck, she could roughly understand what Lord Demon King's minions were chatting about but could not comprehend.
What would it matter if undead jumped in?
It's just bathing, not drinking.
The commotion around the hot spring was merely a brief interlude, with the battles here ending so quickly that most players were idle.
On the other side, in a cave a dozen kilometers away.
Watching the massive approaching Lizardmen and Human Clan army, the High Mountain Kingdom's forces long awaited here gave out a thunderous cheer.
Dwarf King Iron Beard Justice personally greeted them.
This Dwarf Monarch wore heavy plate armor, his beard braided into thick plaits hanging down to his belt, and he looked like a moving iron tower.
He laughed heartily with open arms, completely disregarding aristocratic decorum, and gave Edward, who just dismounted, a rib-cracking bear hug.
"Ha! His Majesty Edward! My good brother! Seeing you makes me truly happy!"
"You're not like that old guy from the Devalu family; now your gaze resembles that of the Campbell Duke who beheaded a giant three hundred years ago! You're both real tough guys!"
The clanging sound of plate armor echoed loudly, causing the guards nearby to involuntarily draw back their necks.
Edward was squeezed until it was hard to breathe, but still firmly hugged this dwarf ally back and humorously remarked.
"That's quite distant, Your Majesty Iron Beard. I honestly can't recall who the Duke from three hundred years ago was off the top of my head; once this battle's over, I ought to look up the dusty family tree to see which ancestor earned such praise from you."
The surrounding dwarf and human officers let out friendly laughter, and the initially somewhat awkward atmosphere due to the race differences dissipated in the banter between the two monarchs.
Iron Beard Justice greatly admired this Duke of Campbell. Although his powers weren't as strong as his sister's, he possessed something she did not have.
If the ruler of Campbell were Erin, he probably wouldn't be as decisive in joining this encirclement of the Rot Clan.
After brief pleasantries, everyone walked into the temporarily erected combat command center.
