The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

Chapter 996: Meeting (2)

Chapter 996: Meeting (2)

[59 Days Before The Awakening]

“Welcome, everyone,” Klaus said, scanning everyone in the room.

After taking in every face, he started to speak.

“As you all know, in 59 days, Earth will undergo a trial that promises our ascension or destruction.” He paused and smiled, “though the latter seems unlikely, considering we have capable men and women like yourselves.

That said, before everything begins today, I will explain what this awakening is, what it means, and what it means for this world, and then what odds we will be going against.”

Everyone paid close attention to what Klaus was about to reveal. They knew for a fact the coming battle would be a dangerous one, and so they had to be prepared.

Unlike Magnus’s time, when everyone thought the awakening was some higher calling, the people of Earth saw it as a threat, and so they started preparing.

“When we talk about the awakening, it is simply a stage every world goes through to ascend and become a recognisable world in the vast universe.

In our current state, this world would be referred to as a waste world in the universe out there. However, the moment it goes through the awakening process, it will be recognised as a true world.

However, while this awakening could have been made simple for all, the heavens deem it necessary to put it through a trial of blood and carnage, which, in a way, I agree with them. The irony in that.”

Klaus laughed. He couldn’t believe himself agreeing with the heavens. He was sure that if they were around, they would be vomiting blood.

“The reason I said I agree with them using blood and carnage as the awakening process is that after the awakening, we will become one with the universe, meaning the many dangers out there will notice us, and while we will have many fortunes from kindred hearts, we will also have many dangers looming over us.

Naturally, I am confident the latter will be what we should expect due to so many factors. However, while the danger wouldn’t end with the awakening, going through the trial of blood and carnage will prepare us for further dangers that might worm their way here.

So the upside here is that we will be prepared for other dangers. But that is one we should worry about later, for the immediate thing today is the awakening.

We have been selected as the defenders, meaning the day of the awakening will see us defending our world. The enemy will come through a portal that will open large in the air, and all we have to do is defend until the last of them comes through.

Once we manage to survive the influx of enemies that will pop out through the portal, the awakening will come to an end, and we will be declared winners.

However, I know you all can tell this isn’t simple at all.” Everyone nodded.

Merely defending wasn’t something they knew would be easy, meaning there was something else at play, and Klaus, who was already looking at their faces, could tell they shared the same thought processes as him.

“The reason why being the defenders puts us at a disadvantageous position is because, while defending against warriors would be manageable, the moment the enemy unleashes their radioactive weapons, this world will be at risk.

If the enemy were to use them during the awakening, not only would it kill us, but it would also damage the world beyond repair.”

Hearing Klaus confirm what they were thinking about was like death had spoken to them.

Lord Joseph, the lord of Jose City, raised his hand, and Klaus allowed him to speak. “If they can use their radioactive weapons, can’t we use ours too, by launching them through the portals?”

Klaus smiled. “Wouldn’t that be convenient, Lord Joseph? Unfortunately, we cannot enter the portal or launch an attack from this side through it.”

The faces of everyone turned dark.

Klaus just shook his head. “Naturally, that was how things should work. However, I have already found a way to bypass this restriction, and for it to work, I will need your help, Lord Kwame.”

A slim, brown-skinned man with a rather large head became stunned when he heard Klaus call his name. He was one of the many powerhouses in the Equatorial Union, formally known as Africa.

“How can I be of help, Overlord Klaus?”

“I have been studying you for a few months now, and although I can’t say with certainty, you are someone who can control minds, right?”

Lord Kwame nodded. Klaus smiled.

“Since we can’t enter the portal, how about we send the enemy back?”

“You mean using my abilities, we will brainwash the enemy into carrying our radioactive weapons back through the portal, which, in this case, the restriction wouldn’t stop them.” Lord Kwame deduced what Klaus was insinuating, and Klaus nodded.

“Since we wouldn’t be playing on the same playground, we might as well play dirty, for that is the only way to get things done.

However, while this is still in the prototype phase, know that you will be needed for this plan to come to fruition.”

“I will do my best when the time comes.”

Klaus nodded and then resumed his introduction. “So as I said, we will be the defenders. However, as I mentioned from the start, we will be facing odds that are several times bigger than us.

I don’t want to scare anyone, but since we are here, I might as well share something small to give you a clearer idea of the odds we will be facing.

From what I know about awakenings, a world is regarded as ready to awaken when a minimum of 40 Ascension stage warriors appear.

However, looking at just this hall alone, we have over 300 Ascension stage warriors and even quite a few Nether stage warriors.

Now, while I don’t want to scare you, why don’t you all digest this information and tell me what you think?” Klaus laughed and leaned back in his chair.

Everyone began digesting his words, and within minutes, Klaus saw the dark looks appear on their faces. They sensed the danger, and that scared them.

None even had to say anything for Klaus to know they were aware of the danger.

“I believe you all can tell there is something amiss.”

Everyone nodded.

“Naturally, this is all the workings of the heavens, and while the reason is something beyond you all, know that the fact that we have thousands of Ascension stage warriors among us is both good and bad.

However, that is the reason we are here today. We came to assess the many warrior units we have and how best to utilise these teams in the upcoming battle.

We are a small world, but we aren’t weak, not even in the slightest, so I believe that if we all bring something to the table, we will be able to face the odds coming against us in 59 days.

And if we manage to win, then know the future will be bright for all of us. So we all do well to present what we can offer vividly so that when the time comes, we will be able to face the heavens without fear or intimidation.”

Klaus tapped on a screen, and the order to be called appeared.

“Let’s start with the Great and Legacy Families.”
