The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

Chapter 1770: Warning & Declaration

  • Next Chapter

The pressure of Kaden’s Dao had blanketed the entire space, making everyone, including the four overlords, look at him with expressions that showed they were wary of him.

That is normal because when it comes to the Dao, it is all about one’s comprehension of the laws translated into the Dao. One can have a weaker cultivation base, but if their understanding of the Dao is high enough, they can fight those with much higher cultivation than they.

Kaden is only a Universal God, and while his cultivation base is the lowest, his understanding of the Dao is so high that he has made everyone wary of him.

They are not scared, far from it.

With their cultivation, they can easily crush him. However, that also doesn’t mean they are safe from him. Kaden’s understanding of the Dao is enough to injure their Dao, which is even more dangerous than straight-up getting their heads chopped off.

So both parties have something to lose, and so they each took a step back to address what is more important...

"Xzeth, I don’t know what has changed these past months for you to hold a mere Universe God in high regard, but this is the Elemental Tower, not your backyard. You can’t just bring a God and hope we will allow him to enter our sacred ground."

Idir, the Red Lotus Guardian, said, his eyes narrowed at Kaden while addressing King Xzeth. Clearly, he still didn’t take Kaden seriously, despite proving he isn’t someone they can mess with.

"You don’t have to lecture me, Idir. I brought him here to occupy one of my slots. As to whether he is a God or not, it is none of your business. You can’t tell me what to do with my slot," King Xzeth asserted, making sure his words reached the four overlords who hate that a mere junior now holds more power of the Dao than they do.

"I am sorry, Xzeth, but what Idir said is right. Since the start of this Elemental Tower Trial, we have never allowed a God to enter. The slots are available for Celestials and above, so if he can become a Celestial in the next 5 days, we will allow him to challenge the Tower. Until then, he has to sit this one out," the Ancient Undead Monarch said, making King Xzeth frown even more.

"Is that how you two also feel?" King Xzeth asked, directing his question to the Black Flame Dragon Queen and the Red Bone Blood Panther.

Looking at the expressions on their faces, King Xzeth knew they had all made up their minds to deprive Kaden of the chance to challenge the Elemental Tower.

Since that was the case, King Xzeth smiled, and then his expression turned icy. Suddenly, a terrifying pressure descended on the space, instantly restricting the four overlords’ movements.

"Five of us have climbed to the 70th floor, yet at every turn, you four don’t hesitate to look down on me and make sure I understand my place. You are stronger, and so you flaunt your strength around, suppressing me at every turn.

"Not anymore. Today, I will put you four in your place and declare to the entire Elemental Garden that from today onwards, there is only one Overlord, and he is me."

King Xzeth raised his hand, and then he gestured, "KNEEL."

His voice was carried by the power of his Chrono-Elemental Eternal Dao, instantly forcing the four overlords to go on their knees.

Gasps spread among everyone, many taking several steps back, terrified of King Xzeth, who had already extended his hand and summoned a 3-meter-long spear crackling with lightning.

"Xzeth, what are you trying to do?" Idir, the Red Lotus Guardian, asked, his body frozen in place.

King Xzeth smiled and replied, "I will be beating some sense into your head since clearly you don’t have any."

The air pressure increased as King Xzeth took one step forward. He took a second, and the four overlords felt like their bones were at their breaking point.

Their Dao, while it had manifested, was still a Primordial Grade Dao. They paled in comparison to King Xzeth, whose Dao manifestation was much higher than theirs, and it was also a grade higher than theirs.

That alone was more than he needed to put them in their place.

Just before King Xzeth could take the third step, Kaden placed his hand on his shoulder. "That is enough, King Xzeth. We don’t want them developing Heart Demons now, do we?"

King Xzeth looked at the four Overlords now on the ground and on their knees and smirked. "You are right. They are useful alive and free of Heart Demons, after all."

He took away the pressure of his Dao and declared, "I determine who to give a slot to, and that is the end of the discussion. Don’t dare try to lecture me on who qualifies and who doesn’t."

The four overlords gritted their teeth, anger flashing across their eyes.

"But I don’t even need a slot to challenge the Elemental Tower. In fact, I have the power to deprive you all of the chance to challenge it," Kaden suddenly said, causing everyone, including King Xzeth, to turn and look at him.

"It is a long story, but the short version is this. The Elemental Tower is both a blessing and a curse left behind by the Elemental King. It is a blessing in the sense that it can help you cultivate the Laws and Dao. Many of you have benefited from that, hence the Blessing tag.

"However, it is a curse in that it hides a gateway to a race that seeks to take over realms and universes. The moment one climbs to a much higher floor, the 90th or 100th, the doors will open, and they will attack.

"So take this as a warning because once I reach the 100th floor, they will come, and I will need you all to hold them back until I am done with whatever I came here to do."

"And what makes you think you have the authority to command us or even think you can reach the 100th floor?" the Ancient Undead Monarch asked.

Kaden smiled and answered, "It is simple, really. It is because I am the Elemental King."

Just then, the Elemental Tower trembled, and a Fairy appeared wearing a broad smile.
