Chapter 1764: Tasha’s Past

[The Day Tasha, the Hybrid Fell]

Efad, the Beast Paragon, or as many call him, the Star Monarch, drove a pointed spear through the chest of a dark elf, a frown painting his face.

He pulled back his spear and spun, evading an arrow, only to meet the poison daggers of another dark elf.

Efad harnessed the power of a serpent, allowing his body to bend in a way no human with bones, regardless of how flexible they were, could move.

Thankfully, as the Star Monarch, he could use the power of all the beasts he had formed contracts with, so he was able to evade the daggers.

Then, harnessing the wings of a butterfly, he took to the air and scanned the battlefield, the frown on his face deepening.

Around him, a deadly battle between his beast companions and an army of dark elves raged on. Some of his beast companions were dead, while others were severely injured. Even though he had cuts on his skin, his breath came in ragged gasps.

This was supposed to be a routine exploration of an ancient ruin with 400 of his beast companions. However, what was supposed to be a fun exploration had turned into a fight for survival.

Over 100,000 Dark Elves led by 10 Celestials ambushed them, and while they had killed thousands, he knew that even if they won, his losses would be much higher than he had ever dreamt of experiencing this early in his journey as a beast tamer.

"Damn you, Heavens Court. One day, you all will answer," Efad cursed, but he was back in the chaos of the battle the next second. A few minutes later, a tired voice entered his head, causing him to falter.

This small mistake allowed a Celestial Dark Elf to plunge his dagger into his chest. "A mere demigod dares defy the will of the heavens."

The dark elf pulled out his dagger, but Efad felt a very insidious poison seep into his body. Still, he had no time to focus on that since the voice that spoke to him brought news more dire than what he was facing now.

’My lord, Lady Tasha is in danger.’

’Ignitia, what is wrong?’ Efad’s voice entered the mind of a dragon flying at the rear of a retreating legion of beasts. Behind them, thousands of Elves and Qilin chased after them.

’Lady Tasha learned that her mother had been captured by the Qilin Emperor and was set to be executed yesterday. Knowing how much she loves her mother, she left before any of us even realised.

Luckily, Runner saw her leave, and he followed. Through him, we managed to teleport to the Qilin Empire. However, we were already too late. By the time we arrived, she was already surrounded.

She managed to save her mother, but the trap set by the Qilin and Elves had already caught her. Of course, we fought and broke her from the trap. We lost some companions, and now they are chasing after us.

My Lord, I know you are busy exploring, but if you can lend a hand, it would be nice. I don’t think we can hold on much longer.’

"Damn it," Efad cursed, his expression turning ugly. He bit his lower lip, tears forming in his already angered eyes.

’I am sorry, Ignitia. You will have to hold on for a while. We are also under attack here. Even if I manage to leave, the rest will die for sure.’

Ignitia didn’t respond simply because, at that very moment, thousands of spells flew through the air, and she had to use her colossal dragon body to block some; otherwise, more of her companions would perish.

Luckily for her, she couldn’t be killed that easily, so she managed to block the attacks. But she was severely injured, forcing her to revert to her human form to heal.

This meant the next wave of attacks would surely get to her and her people.

Just when she was about to reply to Efad, a hand touched her shoulder. Turning, she saw the wife of their Lord smile at her.

Seeing the smile on her face, Ignitia knew she was about to do something dangerous.

"No, my lady, you can’t."

"It is okay, Ignitia. This is my mess, so allow me to clean it up," Tasha said with a smile, her left hand brushing a strand of hair from Ignitia’s face.

She then reached forward and planted a kiss on her forehead...

"Growing up, I had many siblings, both from my mother’s side and my stepmother’s. However, I never knew peace and happiness until I met you guys. You gave me a real family and a loving husband.

I know you love me, and I love you. However, compared to Efad, my life is insignificant. And since his power comes from you guys, I cannot watch you die. I can’t have that on my conscience, so take my mother and protect her for me."

"No, my lady, we can make it. We just have to get to the crossing, and Lord Efad’s domain will protect us," Ignitia tried to wiggle her way out of Tasha’s hold, but she was too injured and weak to do much.

"It is too far, Ignitia. We can’t make it. However, I can help you all reach safety."

Tasha pushed Ignitia forward, then she formed a hand seal. "Bloodline Ignition."

’Oh no, my lord, Lady Tasha, she has ignited her bloodline. I think she is about to—’

Ignitia wasn’t done with her report when Tasha’s voice entered Efad’s mind. ’I am sorry, my love. I know we had plans to build a large and happy family. However, it appears fate has other plans for me.’

A tear fell from Efad’s eye, for he could feel it. Tasha had no plans to walk out of this alive...

’Goodbye for now, my love. Maybe one day, if fate permits, we will meet again.’

Their connection was severed.

A tear fell from Klaus’s eye as he looked at the beautiful skyline filled with stars. Crouching beside him, tears rolling down her face, was Tasha, who had just recovered her memories.

Klaus gave her back her memories since she had asked for them.

Of course, even if he didnt want to, Klaus knew that she had to remember who she was to become who she was meant to be.
