Chapter 1339 1339: Early Immortal Tribulation (6)
The moment Klaus activated the Death's Art, the tribulation cloud, which had been receding, became violent again. However, instead of maintaining the same deep blue hue it had throughout the tribulation, it now became dark, filled with the power of death.
Clearly, Klaus had taken over the tribulation now.
Klaus made no move, but the wolf did; that was because its life was threatened. It moved, hoping to close in on Klaus and detonate, taking him with it. However, Klaus had long made his move.
In fact, he had made his move long before the first spear descended.
Klaus let go of the scythe and formed a hand seal, completely fooling the wolf into believing he would attack.
"Death Art..." From the ground, runes lit up and flew into the air.
"Absolute Death Cage."
The dark clouds churned, sending out deadly bolts of lightning. They each descended on the runes, creating a cage around the wolf.
At once, the wolf was surrounded on all sides with no way of breaking free. It moved, attempting to shatter the cage, but was blasted back by a deadly bolt of lightning.
It tried a few times, but the same thing happened each time. In the end, it came to a stop and glared at Klaus, almost as if it wanted to say something.
Klaus merely smiled, and then he pointed up... "It would be best if you losers find a way to entertain me next time. Using the same thing every time and expecting a different result is just too crazy."
Klaus shook his head, turning his attention to the wolf... "You really think I wouldn't sense it when you faked your death?" Klaus said, speaking to the wolf.
"I have lived long enough to know when my life is threatened. Just now, I sensed it and knew you were merely lying in wait to ambush me. However, what you didn't know was that I had long expected this to happen and had prepared in advance. Now, guess whose life is in danger."
Klaus pointed his scythe forward and added, "When a Heavens Guardian dies, their tribulation runes don't try to escape; they flow into the soul of their killer.
However, when I blew your head off your body, six tribulation runes retreated. That was when I knew you didn't die; you merely faked your death, hoping to get a second chance. Too bad I have more to live for, so I came prepared, just like how I will be next time."
The wolf remained standing inside the cage for a few seconds before transforming into the four-eyed heavens' guardian.
"You are quite perceptive."
"I get that a lot."
"But you are still too weak to kill me. In case you are not aware, my mission today is to memorize what you look like so we can spread your image throughout the universe.
This means even if you were to kill me, I wouldn't truly die. I would wake up in my main body with my memories intact. Do you know why? It is because you had already killed me. So technically, my role to die so the tribulation could come to an end had already happened."
Klaus said nothing. He merely stood there, staring at the smug look on the heavens' guardian's face. It seems the heavens are learning and adapting after every failure.
Unfortunately for them, Klaus had lived nine lives to learn every route the heavens could take and to prepare hundreds of countermeasures.
"I have to admit that your scheme is indeed solid. However, you are mistaken if you think I didn't see you coming from light-years away."
Klaus pointed up, causing the heavens' guardian to look up. His eye landed on a large black skull-like rune...
"That is the Absolute Death Seal. If you want to know what it does, then the simplest answer I can give you is this: if you die inside the cage, you will die in your real body too."
The smile on the heavens' guardian's face changed. He went from being smug to sensing danger to his life.
Klaus smiled, seeing this change. "Of course, I have no plans on killing you, since I would need your mind for something valuable in the future. I will brand your soul with the Absolute Death Seal, and then, using the Star Seal, I will turn you into my slave."
"This is so that when the time comes, I can easily do with you how I please."
"I would not allow myself to be tainted by a paragon." The heavens' guardian released his aura, filling the cage with powerful immortal energy.
However, Klaus merely smiled and pointed his scythe at the death rune. "You have no choice, fella."
The dark rune moved, and before the heavens' guardian could make a move to dodge, a large scythe appeared before his face.
BOOM
His entire head was blasted into pieces, the rest of his body turning into tribulation runes. "Idiot. The moment you get caught in my cage, it's already over for you."
Klaus smirked. The next second, a dark cocoon formed around him, and with Maud still merged with him, he entered his immortal evolution phase.
---
Meanwhile, far away on an unknown planet, a four-eyed young man opened his eyes, his body releasing the power of an Immortal King.
Six immortal rings hovered around him, his entire body drenched in sweat. He stood up and was about to run out when a star tattoo appeared on his forehead. Then, as if he was struck by a boulder, he fell back and collapsed.
Four hours later, he woke up surrounded by three Immortal Lords.
"What went wrong, Guni?" one of the Immortal Lords asked, his expression hostile.
"My lord, sorry I have failed. He saw me coming, and so he made sure I didn't see his face. However, I got a few things I believe will help us narrow down the search."
"Go ahead."
Guni nodded. "He is not a human, considering his ears are long. However, he is also not an elf, since his aura isn't that natural. He has short brown hair and is about 6'2".
"He wields a pair of daggers, and his armour is deep blue."
Guni took a deep breath, then added, "He also has some form of understanding of the Space Law. Lastly, he has wind elemental affinity."
The three Immortal Lords nodded, their expressions softening a bit. After a few minutes, they spoke, "Nice work, Guni. Rest for now. When the time comes again, we will send you and hope you return with more concrete information.
"But we will inform the Heavens Court of your contribution. Also, be ready; you have been selected to join this year's disciples going to the Milky War Warrior Academy."
"Okay, my lord. Thank you."
"Get some rest."
They soon left.
After making sure they were gone, Guni took a deep breath, then retrieved his communicator and dialled a number. A few seconds later, a young lady appeared in a hologram format.
"Guni, why are you calling me? Shouldn't you be away being an errand boy for the Heavens Court?"
"Glad to see you are still the same, sis. Anyway, I called to tell you I have been selected to enrol in the academy. See you soon... bitch."
The lady widened her eyes. Meanwhile, outside the planet, the three Immortal Lords sighed. They didn't seem to trust Guni; however, after hearing what he said, they knew they were merely paranoid.
They soon left.
But after they were gone, Guni smirked and added, "Also, we have to talk about you-know-who."
The lady on the other end of the call smiled. "Nicely done, brat. I will be waiting for you."
