THE LAST KEEPER
Chapter 467: MAGNIFICENT ARRIVALS
The Great Grand Plaza of Alika City was transformed into a breathtaking sea of colors, banners, and golden morning light. Beneath a flawless azure sky, hundreds of ceremonial braziers burned with aromatic cedar, sweet desert resins, and dried shyflower petals, sending fragrant white plumes rising into the crisp air.
High atop the white marble battlements, long silk tapestries bearing the heraldic crests of the five founding provinces fluttered proudly side-by-side in the gentle breeze. More than two hundred thousand citizens, visiting delegates, and off-duty soldiers packed the wide multi-tiered balconies and cobblestone avenues, their excited murmurs filling the capital.
Trumpets carved from polished mountain brass, silver flutes, and massive buffalo-hide drums sounded in thunderous rhythm from the palace gatehouses. The great ceremonial clarions signaled the official start of the Grand Continental Procession, and the crowd erupted in deafening cheers as the first delegation stepped onto the Great Avenue of Palms.
The opening procession began with the magnificent arrival of the Eastern delegations of Takata. Chief Linga Maaka led his scholars and master healers down the white stone avenue, wearing flowing robes of pristine white and emerald botanical silks embroidered with blooming desert shyflowers.
Behind Chief Linga marched sixty senior physicians and herbalists from the Cilsi and Tisaro academies, each draped in crystal vial sashes and polished silver botanical medallions. Attendants carried silver bowls of fresh spring water and scattered wild mint leaves along the road, filling the avenue with a soothing, cooling herbal fragrance.
Eastern cadets followed closely behind, carrying carved cedar chests filled with rare medicinal roots, healing tonics, and restorative teas as ceremonial gifts for the imperial court. The gentle grace and peaceful poise of the eastern healers drew warm smiles and respectful bows from the cheering spectators.
Next came the earth-shaking entry of the Central Plains delegates of Nayiaka. Chief Tendai Mbeki strode forward at the head of the Molakwa forge masters, wearing a heavy ceremonial tunic of hammered bronze plates, engraved steel bracers, and a solid brass neck torque.
Behind the central chief marched fifty master blacksmiths and architects in thick leather aprons trimmed with gold thread, carrying polished steel anvils and glowing ember censers. With every rhythmic step, the smiths struck miniature bronze tuning rods together, producing a melodious metallic chime that harmonized with the beating war drums.
Four apprentice smiths carried a massive ceremonial anvil forged from folded star-iron, adorned with polished brass relief carvings depicting the five united provinces. The central delegates demonstrated the power of human industry, showing that the fire of their forges would now serve to build homes rather than weapons of destruction.
A sharp, primal rhythm of bone hunting whistles announced the arrival of the Western host of Sawaka. Kun Nakia Zawadi rode at the head of the western column atop a magnificent striped mountain raptor-mount, her dark predator-scaled leather armor adorned with golden eagle feathers and polished bone charms.
Sixty western beast-tamers and Tsanka trackers marched behind her in fluid, low-footed predator cadences, their shoulders draped in sleek spotted leopard furs and carved horn armbands. Trained hunting falcons and sleek mountain lynxes paced calmly beside the handlers, displaying the supreme harmony between western warriors and the wild beasts of their mountains.
The western warriors held their twin curved predator blades high in salute, their fierce battle cries drawing thunderous applause from the surrounding galleries. Kun Nakia raised her hunting spear in a sharp, respectful arc, dipping the blade before the imperial balcony in a pledge of unbroken frontier loyalty.
A deep, resonant roar of northern battle horns echoed across the plaza as the Northern Host of Asaka made their grand entrance. Walking at the very center of the northern column was young Kaka Asakana, stepping forward with unmatched pride as the newly chosen Grand Zorath of the Northern Clans.
Kaka was dressed in a magnificent northern mantle of thick white bear fur, draped over a chestplate of polished black iron inlaid with twin roaring bear crests. Strapped across his broad back were the ancestral twin war axes of Asaka, their heavy steel blades polished until they mirrored the morning sun.
Beside him walked Marshal Salka, serving with stern grace and unmatched dignity as the Northern Prefect and military mentor until Kaka’s formal coronation. Salka wore his dark tactical marshal tunic with the northern silver sash, his sharp, veteran eyes watching his young pupil with quiet, paternal pride.
“Walk tall, Kaka,” Salka murmured quietly in his deep, steady voice as they stepped onto the marble ramp. “The eyes of the entire North are upon you, and you carry the honor of every warrior who stood before.”
“I am ready, Marshal,” Kaka replied with a fierce, confident grin, holding his head high as he waved his heavy gauntlet toward the roaring crowd.
Behind them marched the legendary heroes of Squad 25—Kiuga in his senior strategist robes holding the tactical rolls, Bukata proudly wearing northern ringmail over his bandaged chest, and Maita, Zolinka, and young Ulekai in gleaming academy dress armor. The northern warriors pounded their heavy round shields with their gauntlets in perfect unison, their iron discipline and fierce pride commanding the respect of every spectator.
Then, a hush of absolute, breathless reverence fell over the immense plaza as the silver clarions sounded for the Five Primordial Tribes of the South.
At the head of the southern host walked Supreme Chief Sagiri, the Last Keeper of N’folu. He wore a regal flowing robe of dark midnight silk embroidered with ancient silver runes, with the radiant master blade of Nokai sheathed across his back and his dual-colored amber and silver eyes shining with serene majesty.
Beside Sagiri walked Healer Lira in flowing emerald robes and Lady Kiana, the restored Matriarch of the Sekana clan. Kiana was draped in breathtaking silver-and-void-woven silk that shimmered like moonlight on dark water, with seven carved void needles gleaming within her silver hair.
Behind them marched the four brother tribes of N’Faya in their authentic ancestral regalia: the Mazuku stone masters in granite-studded plates carrying basalt chisels, and the Azuvai sonic adepts in carved beast-bone collars with vibration armlets. Beside them, Master Sandshade Koru and N’varu led the Tavhiri Sandshades in flowing gold-and-sand cloaks, while General Zafaru rode alongside in full crimson marshal armor.
Gliding gracefully beside the southern column was the colossal ancient desert beast Zaira, her massive blue-black scales polished until they shone like dark glass. Around her colossal armored neck hung a wide garland of woven golden desert shyflowers, and she rumbled with deep, gentle pride as children tossed flower petals beneath her path.
At the summit of the grand imperial staircase stood Supreme Mandra Taziraka in royal crimson robes and Grand Marshal Senraki in pristine white armor. The two leaders of the imperial core watched the arrival of the five lands with profound emotion, their hands resting upon their ceremonial sashes.
As the chiefs of all five provinces assembled at the base of the imperial dais, the combined heralds sounded a massive, unified chord of trumpets and drums. Every tribal leader, master, and warrior stood united in their authentic ancestral attire, forming a radiant circle of brotherhood that filled the entire plaza with breathtaking splendor.
Kaka stood tall beside Marshal Salka, exchanging a proud, grinning glance with Sagiri across the circle. For the first time in recorded memory, the children of the North, South, East, West, and Central stood not as rivals preparing for slaughter, but as the living pillars of a united world.
Supreme Mandra Taziraka raised his arms toward the sunlit sky, his powerful voice carrying across the silent, awe-struck assembly. “Behold the living soul of our realm! The five lands have gathered, the past is healed, and the grand coronation assembly of Tasaka begins!”
Two hundred thousand voices rose into the sky in a deafening cheer of celebration, and the magnificent festival of the new era commenced.
