THE LAST KEEPER

Chapter 464: CONVERGENCE OF THE FIVE LANDS

The colossal bronze gates of Alika City opened wide into the Great Avenue of Palms, bathed in the warm, golden glow of thousands of hanging paper lanterns. Fragrant white flower petals drifted down from high stone balconies as cheering citizens filled the wide marble walkways.

At the head of the triumphant column, Sagiri rode his sand-strider beside colossal titan serpent Zaira. The massive serpent glided peacefully over the smooth cobblestones, her glistening blue-black scales catching the lantern light as children clapped with wonder from the rooftops.

Beside them, Squad 25 rode in full formal formation, their academy cloaks and polished shoulder guards gleaming in the evening breeze. Behind them, General Zafaru and the forty thousand southern spearmen marched in disciplined ranks, their bronze spear tips held proudly aloft.

The grand avenue led directly into the vast courtyard of the Convergence Palace, where the governing council and military commanders of the continent stood waiting. Towering stone columns carved with ancient historical murals lined the grand staircase leading to the imperial hall.

At the center of the palace stairs stood Supreme Mandra Taziraka, his deep amber eyes glowing with immense pride beneath his dark crimson robes. Beside him stood Grand Marshal Senraki, his tall, disciplined frame wrapped in a pristine white marshal sash.

As Sagiri and Squad 25 dismounted their beasts at the foot of the stairs, Supreme Mandra Taziraka walked down to greet them. The supreme leader of Tagayia placed his right fist over his heart, bowing his head in profound, solemn respect before the young Keeper.

“Welcome home, Chief Sagiri,” Taziraka said, his deep, resonant voice carrying across the entire courtyard. “The five lands owe their survival to your courage and the unbreakable spirit of your companions.”

“We did not fight alone, Supreme Mandra,” Sagiri replied with a humble bow, placing his hand over his heart in return. “This peace was earned by the sacrifice of warriors from every corner of our world.”

“And it is a peace we will guard with our lives,” Grand Marshal Senraki added, stepping forward to clasp Sagiri’s forearm in a warm warrior grip. “You have achieved what generations before us could only dream of.”

A sudden joyful shout echoed across the courtyard as young City Lord Azir burst through the southern delegation, racing down the marble steps. The young southern lord threw his arms around Sagiri’s waist, his bright eyes brimming with joyful tears.

“Big Brother!” Azir cried, burying his face into Sagiri’s traveling cloak. “I brought three hundred supply wagons of grain, fresh dates, and sweet wine from N’Faya for the grand feast!”

Sagiri laughed warmly, ruffling the boy’s dark hair with genuine affection. “You did well managing Thazir and the homeland while we were fighting in the north, Azir. I am very proud of you.”

Azir wiped his cheeks and turned toward Lady Kiana, bowing politely with a bright grin. “And you must be Lady Kiana! Big Brother wrote to me about the brave Sekana matriarch who helped save his life.”

“It is an honor to finally meet you, little brother Azir,” Kiana smiled, her cool, elegant demeanor softening as she rested a gentle hand on the boy’s shoulder.

From the top of the terrace, the provincial leaders of the continent walked down to join the gathering. Kun Nakia Zawadi of the Western Tsanka tribe stepped forward, wearing a dark leather vest over her healed battle armor.

The fierce western huntress bowed deeply before Sagiri and Squad 25, her gaze steady and full of genuine respect. “The West honors the Last Keeper. My hunters and beast-tamers stand ready to sign the charter of unified defense.”

“The foundries of Molakwa are already forging new agricultural tools and bridge girders instead of siege weapons,” Chief Tendai Mbeki said, shaking Kaka’s heavy gauntlet with a booming laugh. “Our continent is ready to build rather than bleed.”

“And the medical sanctuaries of the East have opened their doors to teach southern and western herbalists,” Chief Linga Maaka added, nodding warmly to Healer Lira. “Healing has no borders.”

Marshal Salka and General Zafaru joined Grand Marshal Senraki at the pavilion entrance, beginning the orderly deployment of the southern camp outside the palace walls. The forty thousand spearmen set up their white tents on the green riverbank, greeted by barrels of spiced northern cider and roasted mountain beef.

The ancient desert beast Zaira was escorted to the spacious imperial garden terrace, where palace attendants had placed enormous stone basins filled with seasoned roasted meat. The great desert beast let out a happy rumble, curling her massive coils around a marble fountain as she feasted under the stars.

Palace stewards guided Sagiri, Lira, and Squad 25 up the winding stone stairs to the grand guest residence overlooking the illuminated capital. The open terrace suite was furnished with soft wool carpets, polished cedar couches, and low wooden tables laden with fresh fruit and hot tea.

Kaka collapsed onto a broad cushioned couch with a loud groan of bliss, kicking off his heavy riding boots. “Now this is what I call proper imperial hospitality! If I have to ride another sand-strider this week, my legs will fall off!”

“You said you were made of indestructible northern iron, Kaka,” Maita mocked playfully, sitting on the terrace railing while peeling a sweet orange. “Now you’re whining after a simple two-day ride.”

“A simple ride?!” Kaka barked, tossing a plush cushion at her with a grin. “We marched five hundred leagues through freezing mountain passes and dusty plains! Even northern iron deserves a soft pillow!”

Bukata sat comfortably on a wide bench, adjusting his chest bandage while young Ulekai handed him a steaming cup of herbal tea. “It feels strange to sit in a peaceful palace without alarms or battle horns sounding in the distance.”

“It is a strange feeling, but a good one,” Kiuga agreed, carefully setting his map cases onto a corner table. “For two long years, every waking thought was consumed by tactics, supply lines, and casualty reports.”

“Tomorrow, the history of our world begins anew,” Zolinka murmured, leaning against the balcony railing as she looked out over the sparkling city. “The Treaty of the Five Sands will unite every tribe into a single nation.”

Lira poured a fresh cup of shyflower tea and sat beside Sagiri on the low couch, gently resting her shoulder against his arm. Sagiri took her hand, interlacing his fingers with hers as they watched the gentle moonlight wash over the quiet rooftops of Alika City.

“How are your spirit pathways feeling tonight, Sagiri?” Lira asked softly, her grey eyes reflecting the warm lantern light.

“They are completely peaceful, Lira,” Sagiri answered, his voice steady and calm. “The relics are resting quietly, and for the first time in my life, my mind is clear of all shadows.”

“We walked a long road from the training sands of Galka,” Kaka said quietly, his voice unusually gentle as he looked around at his squad mates. “We fought beasts, survived dungeons, breached the void, and lost brothers along the way.”

“Tsaka, Felunka, and all those who fell are remembered,” Kiuga said, lifting his wooden cup into the air. “Their sacrifices gave us this night.”

Sagiri, Lira, Kaka, Bukata, Maita, Zolinka, Ulekai, and Lady Kiana raised their cups together in the quiet starlight, tapping the polished wood in a solemn, unbreakable toast.

“To Squad 25,” Sagiri said softly, his dual-colored eyes shining with love and gratitude for the family sitting beside him. “And to the dawn of Tasaka.”

The young warriors drank together in silence, ready to stand as one before the assembled leaders of the continent when the morning sun rose over Alika City.
