THE LAST KEEPER
Chapter 457: BROTHERHOOD
The glowing stardust rose from the marble basin, hovering in the air like a cloud of tiny golden stars. As the master records of the Archive unlocked, a massive wave of ancient information began to surge into the chamber.
Even with the Five Relics stabilized and the stone shell gone, the sheer volume of five thousand years of history was overwhelming. Sagiri felt his knees buckle slightly under the immense cognitive pressure as thousands of books, maps, and treatises pressed against his mind.
Before his boots could touch the stone floor, Kaka stepped forward and grabbed Sagiri's right forearm with an iron grip. Kaka's rough northern face was split with a broad, stubborn grin as he held his Chief steady.
"Did you already forget what we told you at the gate, Sagiri?" Kaka laughed, pulling him firmly back onto his feet. "You don't get to carry five thousand years of history by yourself."
Kiuga stepped up on his left side, placing a steady hand on Sagiri's shoulder. "A true vanguard never fights as a single blade. A military unit exists to divide the weight of the campaign."
Lira placed her warm hands gently over Sagiri's heart, her green cellular aura expanding to wrap around the entire group. "We came into this void to share your burden, Sagiri. Let us help you hold it."
Lady Kiana stepped behind Sagiri, placing her palms against his upper back while eighteen silver void needles hovered in a wide halo around them. "The Sekana void network can distribute the cognitive stream across multiple living minds without harming any of us."
Maita, Zolinka, and young Ulekai closed the circle, locking their hands across each other's shoulders and arms. Together, the seven cadets and Lady Kiana formed an unbroken ring of living will in the center of the starlit pavilion.
"Squad 25 stands together," Kiuga declared with calm authority. "Lady Kiana, open the distribution channels!"
Kiana nodded, her dust-rose eyes flashing with brilliant silver light as she struck her center needle. In an instant, the crushing torrent of Archive knowledge was divided smoothly into seven separate streams of radiant light.
Kaka roared with laughter as a stream of golden light flowed into his broad chest. He absorbed the heavy kinetic memories of ancient desert sieges, feeling the thrill of forgotten vanguard battles surging through his muscles.
"Now this is what I'm talking about!" Kaka grinned, his eyes glowing with northern fire. "These ancient southerners really knew how to swing a heavy weapon in a breach!"
Kiuga received the vast streams of geographical maps, trade routes, and tactical treatises. His brilliant tactical mind processed the data effortlessly, organizing centuries of lost military history into neat, orderly chapters in his mind.
"The tactical geometries of the ancient desert forts are incredible," Kiuga muttered, memorizing the troop deployments with complete focus. "We can use these defensive layouts to protect every border of Tasaka."
Maita absorbed the silent movement arts, shadow-walking footwork, and covert scouting techniques of the ancient scouts. His sharp eyes narrowed with satisfaction as he memorized the lost arts of desert tracking and silent reconnaissance.
Zolinka absorbed centuries of rare alchemical formulas, botanical venom extractions, and explosive compounding recipes. "Incredible..." Zolinka muttered, his hands twitching with excitement. "There are chemical mixtures here that our academy instructors have been trying to invent for fifty years!"
"Don't go blowing up the dormitory when we get back," Maita teased quietly, glancing at his alchemist friend with a faint smirk.
"Relax, I only test the dangerous recipes on Kaka's spare armor," Zolinka shot back with a grin, holding his position in the circle.
Young Ulekai received the peaceful cultural traditions, festival music, harvest calendars, and ancient baking recipes of the five tribes. A bright, joyful smile spread across the young boy's face as he hummed a forgotten harvest melody.
Lira absorbed the master medical treatises of ancient N'folu and Sekana, feeling centuries of anatomical knowledge and cellular soothing techniques settling gently into her hands. "The ancient healers knew how to repair internal organs using pure herb resonance," she whispered in awe.
Lady Kiana anchored the central void balance, ensuring that every stream of memory flowed without creating a single tremor of strain. With the cognitive burden shared across seven living souls, the crushing pressure on Sagiri vanished completely.
Sagiri stood tall at the center of the circle, taking a deep, easy breath as the warm light flowed through his brothers and sisters. For five thousand years, every Keeper had tried to hoard this knowledge alone in dark towers, dying young from the sheer weight of isolation.
"This is the true secret of the Living Memory," Sagiri whispered, looking around at the smiling faces of his dearest companions. "It was never meant to be a solitary curse. It only lives when it is shared with people you trust."
Far above on the frozen surface of Karokai Valley, a miraculous change swept across the physical world. The black spatial dome covering the basin began to glow with soft, translucent golden light, turning as smooth and clear as morning glass.
Bukata leaned against his shield on the frozen gravel, feeling a sudden surge of strength washing through his bandaged chest. He looked up at the golden dome, letting out a deep, relieved laugh that echoed off the cliffs.
Beside him, Marshal Salka and General Zafaru lowered their weapons, watching the dark sky over the valley clear into brilliant blue sunshine. N'varu let out a long breath of relief, sheathing her twin scout blades with a rare smile.
Titan serpent Zaira lifted her colossal head, letting out a joyous roar that shook the snowy peaks. The great beast coiled her body peacefully in the sunshine, knowing her master was safe.
"They did it," Master Sandshade Koru murmured with tears in his white eyes, bowing toward the golden dome. "The young cadets have broken the five-thousand-year curse of the South."
Back inside the peaceful garden of the Archive, the seven streams of light settled into permanent harmony within the squad's minds. The stardust hovering above the marble basin began to swirl together, shining with breathtaking warmth.
Within the golden light, three radiant, loving silhouettes stepped forward onto the stone floor of the pavilion. Sagiri looked up with a trembling breath, recognizing the gentle faces of his birth mother Rina, and his beloved adoptive parents, Bakuru and Rusha.
The parents had returned to welcome their son home, and the final healing of the Last Keeper had arrived.
