THE LAST KEEPER
Chapter 421: THE WRATH OF THE LAST KEEPER
The broken remnants of Lanka’s Frost General lay scattered across the bloodstained snow as absolute silence fell over the mountain gorge.
Sagiri stood calmly in the freezing wind, his black cloak whipping in the drafts as dark alchemical fluid dripped from his bare hands.
His left eye burned with ancient crimson authority, while his right eye shone with the cold, radiant light of the void.
The sixty thousand Soulless shock troops and giant frost beasts froze in mechanical confusion, their command network severed by the death of their general.
Sagiri did not give them a single heartbeat to reorganize.
He unleashed the archive aura in an expanding dome of pitch-black and radiant silver gravity that rippled across the entire valley floor.
The crushing pressure slammed into the enemy ranks like an invisible tidal wave, locking thousands of iron-clad enforcers to the frozen earth.
From the high southern cliffs above the pass, General Zafaru raised his scimitar and sounded the grand charge of the South.
Forty thousand southern warriors surged down the steep slopes in magnificent bronze battle lines, their iron-tipped spears lowered like an advancing forest.
Behind them, the master engineers from Molakwa Forge Academy fired their kinetic barrier cannons, sending concussive shockwaves tearing through the gorge.
The massive kinetic blasts shattered the rocky canyon walls behind the invading horde, collapsing hundreds of tons of stone to seal off Lanka’s retreat.
Grand Zorath Zaka wiped the blood from his brow, his deep laugh echoing through the blizzard as he raised his twin battle axes.
"Warriors of the North!" Zaka roared, his voice shaking the frost from the trees. "Our brothers from the South have arrived! Forward!"
Kaka slammed his heavy axes together and charged down the hill alongside his father, his northern warplate gleaming beneath the morning sun.
Squad 25 moved with seamless, lethal coordination behind them.
Banga tracked enemy thermal signatures through his night-vision goggles, guiding Kiuga and Maita as they cut off flanking detachments of frost beasts.
Zolinka, Bukata, and Ulekai secured the perimeter with explosive tripwires, while Kiana’s silver void needles disabled the heavy automata on the flanks.
At the center of the battlefield, colossal Zaira surged forward like a living avalanche, her massive armored body plowing through the enemy lines.
Her giant tail swept across the frozen ground with seismic force, throwing dozens of iron siege engines and armored frost beasts into the rock walls.
Above her coils, Sagiri stepped through the air, descending directly into the densest cluster of the retreating army.
The twenty Silver-Veined Void Blades broke into a blinding, synchronized dance of death around his body.
Sagiri moved with the effortless, flowing grace of the ancient N’folu blade katas, his feet barely leaving prints in the snow.
Every flick of his wrist guided the floating blades along the unseen spiritual pathways of the enemy, severing alchemical cores with terrifying ease.
When a massive three-tusked frost beast lunged at his flank, Sagiri did not even turn to face it.
He simply extended his left palm, channeling the raw, indestructible density of the absorbed Living Stone into a single concussive strike.
The bare-handed blow struck the beast’s armored skull with the force of a falling meteor, shattering its iron plates and sending the colossal creature flying backward into twenty charging enforcers.
Enemy blades and ice-spears shattered against the dense silver-black aura surrounding his body before they could even brush his cloak.
Sagiri was a walking storm of absolute dominion, harvesting hundreds of Soulless soldiers with every fluid step he took through the snow.
Trapped between forty thousand southern spears, the northern axe battalions, and the Last Keeper’s relentless assault, the Lanka vanguard dissolved into total ruin.
General Zafaru’s spearmen formed impenetrable phalanxes, skewering the panicked frost beasts with coordinated thrusts.
N’varu and the ten Sandshades glided effortlessly along the icy ridges, cutting down rogue commanders and scattering Lanka’s auxiliary lines.
In less than an hour of relentless slaughter, the sixty-thousand-strong invasion force that had threatened to conquer Tagayia was completely eradicated.
The mountain pass fell silent once more as the heavy blizzard finally began to break, revealing patches of clear blue sky above the jagged peaks.
Smoke rose from thousands of shattered automata and broken siege wagons, while the snow melted beneath rivers of black alchemical coolant.
Sagiri lowered his hands as the twenty Silver-Veined Void Blades reformed their quiet, protective circle behind his back.
His breathing remained slow and steady, his life force perfectly aligned with the cosmic equilibrium of the Archive.
Grand Zorath Zaka walked slowly through the smoking wreckage, staring at the sea of southern warriors standing side-by-side with his northern kin.
For sixteen years, the old chief had harbored bitter hatred and deep suspicion toward the southern desert and the memory of the N’folu.
Yet now, looking at the forty thousand southern spears who had bled to save his clan, the stubborn pride in his heart crumbled away.
Chief Zaka halted ten paces before Sagiri, dropped his heavy battle axes into the snow, and slammed his right fist against his chestplate in a deep, humble bow.
"Supreme Chief Sagiri," Zaka said, his deep voice thick with emotion. "The Asakana clan and the entire North owe you our lives."
"You did not just save Kovura Pass today," Zaka continued, looking up into Sagiri’s dual-colored eyes. "You saved our people from total extinction."
General Zafaru stepped forward, flanked by Elder Koru and the southern captains, their bronze armor stained with the blood of their common enemy.
"The South and North bleed together as one today, Chief Zaka," General Zafaru stated, his weathered face solemn and proud.
Kaka, Kiuga, Banga, and the rest of Squad 25 gathered around Sagiri, their bruised faces breaking into exhausted, triumphant smiles.
"We held the line, Keeper," Kiuga said, wiping sweat and snow from his brow.
"We did," Sagiri replied softly, placing a hand on Kaka’s shoulder and nodding to his companions.
Sagiri looked north toward the distant, frozen horizon where dark storm clouds still hovered over the lands of Glacial Lanka.
"This was only their vanguard," Sagiri declared, his voice carrying across the silent ranks of both armies.
"King Vanka and the rogue General Senraki are massing hundreds of thousands more in their subterranean flesh-forges," he warned.
"We must gather the leaders of all five realms in the fortress of Kovura," Sagiri ordered, his dual eyes glowing with iron resolve.
"We will forge a grand continental alliance, strike across the four fronts, and take this war directly to the gates of Glacial Lanka."
Forty thousand southern spearmen and thirty thousand northern warriors raised their weapons toward the sky with a thunderous, unified battle cry.
The ancient blood feud was dead, buried beneath the snow of Kovura Pass, and the united realm of Tasaka had begun to rise.
