The last DragonHeart
Chapter 41: The Hunted
The Frostwood Realm was a world of frozen beauty and biting cold.
James led his allies through the snow-covered forests, their breath misting in the frigid air. The landscape was treacherous—ice-covered ravines, snow-laden branches that threatened to collapse, and the constant howl of wind that carried the distant cries of hunting beasts.
But James pressed on. He had to.
Kael moved beside him, his green healing energy pulsing to keep them warm. "I've always hated the cold. This is why I'm never moving to the Frostwood Realm. Ever. I don't care how beautiful it is."
Serena's ice-blue eyes scanned the horizon. "The young Dragonheart was last seen near the Frozen Peaks. That's three days' journey from here."
James nodded, his jaw tight. "Then we move faster. We don't have time to waste."
Lysandra appeared from the shadows, her dark eyes gleaming. "I've picked up her trail. She's heading toward the Void's Edge. If she reaches it, she'll be beyond our reach."
Rourke's massive form shifted. "Then we cut her off. Use the terrain to our advantage."
James's fists clenched. "Let's move."

The Chase
They found her at the edge of the Frozen Peaks.
The young Dragonheart was running through the snow, her dark hair flying behind her, her face pale with terror. Golden fire flickered weakly around her hands—uncontrolled, unstable, dangerous.
"Stop!" James shouted, his voice echoing across the frozen landscape. "We're here to help you!"
The young woman spun, her eyes wide with fear. "Stay back! I don't know who you are or what you want, but I won't let you take me!"
James raised his hands, showing he was unarmed. "My name is James Ironheart. I'm the Last Dragonheart. I'm here to protect you."
The young woman's eyes flickered with recognition. "The Last Dragonheart? The one who defeated the Celestial Council?"
James nodded. "The same. I know you're scared. I know you don't trust anyone. But I promise you—I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to help."
The young woman hesitated, her golden fire flickering uncertainly. Then, slowly, she lowered her hands.
"My name is Lyra," she said, her voice trembling. "I've been running for weeks. They've been hunting me. The Celestial remnants. They want to use me, to take my power, to—"
A roar echoed across the mountains, cutting her off.
James spun, his blood running cold. Three figures emerged from the snow—Celestial remnants clad in black armor, their eyes burning with cold fury.
"There she is!" one of them shouted. "Capture her! The Archon will reward us handsomely!"
James stepped forward, his body shielding Lyra. "You're not taking her anywhere."
The Celestial leader laughed—cold, hollow, mocking. "You? The Dragonheart without power? What are you going to do, talk us to death?"
James's eyes blazed with defiance. "I don't need power to protect the people I care about."
Kael stepped forward, green healing energy pulsing around his hands. "And he's not alone."
Serena's ice blazed. Rourke's massive form shifted. Lysandra vanished into the shadows.
The Celestial remnants hesitated, their confidence wavering.
"Fools," the leader snarled. "You think you can stand against us? We are the Council's legacy. We are—"
"You are nothing," James interrupted, his voice steady. "The Council is gone. Your power is broken. And you will not harm another innocent person."
The leader's eyes burned with fury. "Kill them all!"
The remnants charged.

The Battle
The snow erupted into chaos.
Serena's ice blazed, freezing the remnants in their tracks. Rourke's massive fists sent them flying. Lysandra moved through the shadows, her dagger finding throats with deadly precision.
And Kael—Kael darted through the chaos, his green healing energy pulsing as he shielded his allies from harm.
James stood at the center of it all, his voice cutting through the chaos. "Lyra! Use your fire! Focus it on the leader!"
Lyra's eyes widened with fear. "I can't control it! I've never been able to control it!"
James met her gaze, his voice steady. "Yes, you can. I believe in you. Guide the fire. Don't fight it. Become one with it."
Lyra closed her eyes, her hands trembling. The golden fire flickered, pulsed, then blazed to life. It shot toward the Celestial leader, consuming him in a burst of pure light.
The leader screamed as the fire engulfed him, his body dissolving into ash.
The remaining remnants faltered. Their leader was gone. Their confidence shattered.
"FLEE!" one of them shouted. "THE DRAGONHEART IS UNSTOPPABLE!"
They scattered like leaves in the wind, retreating into the shadows from which they came.
James stood at the center of the battlefield, his body aching, his breath ragged. But he was alive. His allies were alive. And Lyra was safe.
Lyra collapsed to her knees, her body trembling. "I did it. I actually did it."
James knelt beside her, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Yes, you did. You're stronger than you know."
Lyra looked up, her eyes filled with tears. "Thank you. Thank you for saving me."
James smiled—a warm, genuine expression. "That's what we do. We protect each other. We're family now."

The Return
They returned to Ashford three days later.
James led Lyra through the city streets, showing her the peace and prosperity that the Seven Realms had achieved. The young Dragonheart's eyes were wide with wonder, her fear slowly replaced by hope.
"This is incredible," Lyra breathed. "I never imagined the realms could be like this."
James nodded. "It took a lot of work. A lot of sacrifices. But it was worth it."
Kael appeared beside them, his mismatched eyes warm. "And you're part of it now. Welcome to the family."
Lyra smiled—a genuine, heartfelt expression. "Thank you. All of you."
James placed a hand on her shoulder. "There are others like you. Hidden across the realms. We need to find them, protect them, and give them hope. Will you help us?"
Lyra's eyes blazed with determination. "Yes. I'll do whatever it takes."
James looked at his allies—his family. The warmth in his chest blazed with fierce determination.
"Then let's get to work."
