The Kind of Evil

Chapter 673: Tolerance.

Two guards were standing next to the city gate, holding their spears and wearing full armor. Nothing was different, the beautiful view of the mountain and the sounds of birds singing in the distance, everything looked normal. When they heard the sound of a carriage in the distance, their brows furrowed because they didn’t remember if there was anyone leaving the city in the past weeks for them to welcome back. They looked at each other for a moment before they immediately informed the guards that were watching from the watch towers on top of the city wall.

"That’s..." the guard on the watch tower narrowed his eyes, trying to see through the mist. "That’s not our carriage..." he pointed out.

The guard wanted to make sure who was coming, and when the mist cleared out a bit, he could see the banner on top of the carriage. When he saw the Asghar family’s crest, his eyes widened and immediately rang the bell without hesitation. The sound of the bell echoed throughout the city, and in just a matter of a minute, all the guards had been stationed on top of the walls with their bows and arrows ready.

"Hold!" The guard captain shouted as he raised his left hand at the coachman from the top of the wall.

The coachman stopped the horses. He didn’t seem to fear the guards or the bows and arrows that were pointed at him.

"Turn around! We are not welcoming any guests!" The guard captain ordered as he stared at the carriage, wondering about which Asghar family member that dared to walk into their territory. "If you don’t heed the warning, we will not hesitate to fire!" He warned.

Even with the warning, there was no response, the coachman sat still and didn’t move his hands to make the horses turn around. When the guard captain raised his hand to signal the archers to fire their arrows, the carriage door slowly opened. When they saw it was a woman, they already knew she was Anastasha without having to confirm it further.

Anastasha raised her hands and looked at the guards on top of the walls. Her expression was flat and impassive, lacking fear. The guard captain looked at her for a moment before he pushed his hand downward toward her. The archers didn’t show any hesitation in releasing the arrows at her.

When Anastasha saw dozens of arrowheads diving toward her, she unfolded her fan and covered her face and head. Everyone watched the arrows pierce through her skin and flesh, but the arrows that were aiming for her head got deflected by the hand fan, which shocked them by the material of the hand fan itself.

There was only silence, everyone was staring at Anastasha’s still body. They thought that they managed to kill her because nobody should be able to survive when her body was like a pin cushion. However, they slowly heard a sizzling sound, and when they saw the faint white smoke coming out of her wounds, they saw a slow movement of her hand being lowered.

They were shocked when they saw Anastasha standing there, unbothered by the wounds as the sizzling sounds grew louder. They saw the iron that pierced through her flesh suddenly leaked out of the wounds and fell to the ground. It wasn’t just the iron of the arrowheads, the wooden body of the arrows began to darken until they turned black in an instant. When she moved her body slowly, the blackened wooden arrows crumbled and fell off her body. However, what shocked them was the fact the wounds closed up slowly even though she was bleeding.

"You shouldn’t have done that..." Anastasha spoke coldly as she stared at the guard captain before her gaze moved to look at the iron gates.

Anastasha walked toward the gate, and when the guards tried to stop her, she casually flicked her left arm. Her blood hit their bodies and faces, and immediately their armor and their faces began to melt. Everyone could hear the pain in their screams, but she ignored them and immediately swung her left arm against the iron gates.

Since her wounds had completely healed and most of the blood had dried up, only a few droplets that hit the iron gates. However, those few droplets were enough to melt down the whole gates that were at least two-dozen feet high. The gate that was thicker than two people standing next to each other had completely melted.

"How nice of you to let us in," Anastasha chuckled as she walked back toward the carriage.

"Fire!" The guard captain shouted. "Don’t let her in no matter what!" He added.

As the archers released their arrows, a barrier deflected and broke all the arrows before they could hit the carriage or the horses. Anastasha casually walked back inside and sat beside Nie, looking down at her clothes that had been ruined by the arrows.

"That’s pretty cool," Rullein’s hand reached Anastasha’s blood on Anastasha’s arm. When her forefinger flicked the blood off Anastasha’s skin, she licked the blood. "Oh, it’s interesting..." she pointed out.

Aris, Rullein, and Rasmus stared at Rullein silently while Nie and Anastasha shot their brows upward in a shocked expression.

"What?" Rullein looked at everyone with a confused look.

"It’s nothing..." Anastasha chuckled in disbelief as she shook her head.

Rasmus knew that Anastasha had Evil God’s blood running through her veins, her mother was one of the three Evil Gods. Her mother, Natia, was a serpent who was said to be the most venomous being in the whole Khan Empire, and that same venom ran through Anastasha’s veins. To see it firsthand, Rasmus couldn’t help but be fascinated by her power, and the fact that she didn’t even flinch when she was being stabbed with dozens of arrows was beyond his understanding.

"Doesn’t it hurt?" Rasmus asked.

"It does hurt, but it’s similar to how you got pinched. It stings for a moment and then it fades away. It’s due to my rapid regeneration that numbs the pain," Anastasha answered and nodded her head. "There was one time when one of my uncles tried to assassinate me when I was a little girl. He stabbed me in the back, but due to the knife stuck in between my spine, his whole hand melted because he couldn’t pull the knife away and my blood began to spill all over his hand. That was perhaps the most painful one that I have ever experienced," she revealed as she looked out the window and noticed that the carriage had been surrounded.

"I don’t know which one I should feel bad for," Serena responded with her brows raised.

"Well, not only he lost a hand, he also lost his head the morning after while I’m already attending my study. So, I guess that should go for my uncles," Anastasha chuckled, and then her smile disappeared when there was an old man waiting for them outside. "Ah, it looks like we finally have someone with common sense. Let me handle this one as well," she said as she looked down at her clothes once again.

"Wear this," Rasmus pulled out a robe out of thin air from his spatial ring.

"I know I didn’t need to ask," Anastasha smiled at Rasmus and took the robe from Rasmus’ hand. "Thank you."

Anastasha then opened the door after she put on the robe and walked down the carriage. She looked around, seeing dozens of guards and a few martial artists that stood behind the old man. Once again, she raised her hands, showing that she had no desire to fight.

The old man stared at Anastasha, then at the people inside the carriage through the window. He didn’t need to confirm who they were because his eyes could see how powerful those people were. He even believed that the least dangerous among them all was no other than Anastasha, but even so, she alone could create chaos with her power.

"Welcome to the Xin prefecture, Princess Anastasha Asghar," the old man gave her a martial salutation.

"Xin? So this city is called Xin prefecture?" Anastasha hummed as she looked at how peaceful it was, and the people lived normally with markets and all those things that made it no different than any other town she had visited. "I thought you would say something like... welcome to the Demonic Cult territory," she smirked as she stared at the old man.
