The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1875: Colorless Energy

Chapter 1875: Colorless Energy

Jessie swallowed harshly at the realization.

As someone native to the Primordial Meadow, she had been to quite a few different realms. Odd-looking realms aren’t something new to her. Seeing this endless expanse of shallow water doesn’t surprise her at all.

She had been in a realm that was only inhabited by a handful of living beings.

A realm like this is not new.

But what shocked her was the fact that Rex, who was no stronger than an Awakened Demigod, was the one who owned this realm. Now the blankness of this place made sense. This realm is either still very young or very underdeveloped.

Either way, for Rex to own this realm shouldn’t be possible.

It’s one thing to be connected to a realm or rule it, and it’s another to own it.

“Who in the Gods are you?” Jessie asked. The question slipped out of her lips because of her shock.

“Someone you don’t want to be an enemy,” Rex answered. His hand squeezes her neck harder, making it impossible for her to breathe. “But you already walked past that line, so I guess I’m your executioner.”

Bam—!

Rex restrained himself from killing her. He opted for ripping out her heart to punching her squarely in the stomach. Behind her, the Aegis of Moon Sentinel that had been seamlessly summoned, and also the reason why Jessie’s last attack had missed earlier, rose.

He willed black lightning into shackles, binding her limbs against the golden sphere.

His knuckles earlier were also infused with the Law of Misdirection, so she won’t be able to gather her power until he allows it.

And as insurance, every five-seconds, an electric shock would be fired into her body.

It’ll distort her energy flow, making it even harder for her to retaliate.

Just a few hand gestures, and Rex managed to effectively render an Awakened Demigod helpless.

From entering the Spirit Realm, Rex learned that an extremely exceptional entity from a lower realm would still be exceptional in the higher realm. He or she would still be above average. Average or even weak entities from the higher realms couldn’t compare.

Frankly, Shadow and Jessie are not average.

So, if not for that, then maybe Rex was simply one of a kind.

But Rex doesn’t want to think like that.

Entertaining that thought would only make him arrogant, and arrogance would lead to a disaster.

Rex could hear Jessie coughing up blood, but he didn’t spare her a glance. He bent down and retrieved the energy sword from the ground. Even in her hands bound, the blade thrummed with a violent crimson glow. It doesn’t need a constant energy supply from the looks of it.

It was independent.

Once the sword was activated, it could sustain itself until it was turned off manually.

However, what caught Rex’s attention wasn’t the energy sword. It was the energy that made its blade.

“So, this is the energy that I can’t sense,” Rex inspected the energy in marvel. He thought since he had faced a God, he knew and had felt what a God’s power felt like. But this foreign energy proved that his assumption was wrong. “System, scan the energy.”

<Scanning…>

As he waited for the System to complete the scan, Rex took a closer look.

“No… It’s not red.”

Moonlight energy is silver. Elemental mana’s color depends on the element. Chaos energy is purple. He thought this foreign energy would be similar to the other forms of energy. Perhaps there are types that made this energy glow with a different color.

After all, he had fought multiple Godlings, and all of their energies were colored differently.

Even though the component was the same thing, the color was different.

Now that he could inspect the energy closely, he realized the foreign energy that he couldn’t sense was colorless. The only reason Rex could see it with his raw eyes was because of the other energy that was attached to this colorless energy.

The color and nature came from the second energy, while the raw power came from the foreign energy.

“Arcane mana is a stronger version of mana reserved for high-ranking and lucky Awakened. The divine strands enhanced energies from within, elevating their strength even further. Is this weird energy another form of amplification?” Rex rubbed his chin, curious, as this was his first time stumbling upon an energy that his senses couldn’t pick up.

Rex tried touching it with his black lightning.

His focus was on the colorless energy. To see how it would react.

As the black lightning pressed forward, the second energy answered—fierce and violent, as if the only thing it knew was to attack. But it wasn’t until it touched the black lightning that the colorless energy finally made its move.

It oozed into the second energy and empowered it.

No significant boost in power happened, but Rex saw another thing entirely.

Aided by the colorless energy, the second energy’s violent nature that resisted the black lightning in a messy manner began to change. Evolve. It lost none of its ferocity, but gained focused direction. Under Rex’s careful observation, it split into three distinct paths.

One path clashed head-on with the black lightning. The second pierced through, striking at the divine strands at its core. And the third wrapped around like a blanket. And then, another path climbed out. It was purely the colorless energy, and it went straight to the black lightning.

Rex watched as his black lightning crumbled and lost power.

It has the same violent nature, but the colorless energy weakened it instead of aiding it.

And in the next instant, Rex’s hand recoiled as the black lightning shattered.

<Scanning complete!>

<Notice: Two components made up the energy sword. Stellar Mana and Primus Source>

Hmm, where do they originate? And what are their powers?

<Notice: the user doesn’t have enough gold to purchase this information.>

<Be advised, the user will obtain the information automatically upon gaining access to the energies>

“I need to complete the sudden quest effectively, huh?” Rex nodded.

From the two components making the energy sword, he was quite certain that Jessie’s energy was the Stellar Mana, while the colorless energy should be the Primus Source. His initial intention was to learn about this energy so that he wouldn’t be able to be ambushed by it.

But now, his goal has changed entirely.

Just from his observation alone, he could tell that the Primus Source was able to empower the nature of a certain energy tied to it and weaken everything else. It doesn’t increase the raw power of an energy, but makes it far more effective in what it does.

For it to weaken the black lightning meant the Primus Source recognized arcane mana.

And that is a strong indication that it is compatible with arcane mana.

Rex has a strong suspicion that it might even be compatible with any energy as for something to weaken the nature of another, it would require deep understanding. And this Primus Source must be something extraordinary for it to be able to do exactly that.

“I can’t sense it—but I should be able to sense the Stellar Mana, this can only mean the Primus Source also infused its own nature into the energy it was attached to,” Rex looked at the energy sword in marvel. “I really need to get my hands on this energy.”

Once he stole powers from the Lunirich Gods, the nature from each Full Moon would be his.

And this Primus Source would surely elevate him higher.

Being the Royal Black Prince already made him extremely versatile. This Primus Source would make that versatility even stronger. In hindsight, the Primus Source if the exact energy that would be perfect for someone like him.

Rex paused for a second.

And then, without thinking much, he pointed the energy sword at his heart.

He pushed it in, and the Absolute Anger Effect instantly stopped it.

“Hmm,” Rex studied the interplay between the Primus Source and the Absolute Anger Effect. “It can’t weaken the gift—from the Highseat of Invincibility,” He concluded. “Pity. I thought it would be a real advantage against Scions. Still, its nature makes it the most effective energy for the task.”

Just then, Rex recalled that the Scions don’t fear Gods.

From the start, he should’ve expected this result.

Rex looked at Jessie again, but glanced over his shoulder when he sensed the air shift.

In the distance, a vortex had formed—a swirling convergence of minor divine strands, all drawn from across the blank realm into a single, spiraling column of sparkling wind. At the center of it all, Evelyn and Gistella stood with their faces tilted upward, watching the phenomenon take shape.

Seems like they had planted the Realm Fertilizer.

Rex approached Jessie and punched her stomach again to pull her attention.

She was fixated on the phenomenon that she forgot her current situation.

A trickle of blood traced the corner of her lips as she stared at Rex with one eye open. Her body tried to curl, but couldn’t. Her muscles locked in spasm, making her breath trapped somewhere between her chest and her throat.

Rex watched her glassy eyes and saw no more malice behind them.

She was helpless.

“I’m in a remarkably good mood right now. Answer my question without trouble, and I’ll let you go.

Even though Jessie didn’t believe him at all, there was no other option. Despite her better judgment, she nodded her head weakly. If there was even a one percent chance that she might be let go, then that is remarkably better than waiting for her death.

Rex raised the energy, sword, “How did you get the Primusu Source?”

“I don’t know… what you’re talking about,” She answered. Her voice was small. Weak.

But it was no trouble for Rex’s acute hearing.

“You don’t know?” Rex frowned, but it didn’t seem like Jessie was lying. “How come you, an assassin with experience, don’t know, but an innocent and young Pale Defender seemed to know? If I determine that you lie, you’ll die without even realizing it.”

“I really don’t know,” Jessie shook her head. “It came to me naturally.”

“Hmm,” Rex rubbed his chin.

From the looks of it, Jessie didn’t even know what the colorless energy name was.

She can use it, but she doesn’t know what it really was.

Since that was the case, there is no benefit in keeping Jessie any longer. Rex waved his hand and released her from the shackles and suppression. He also tossed the energy sword back to her, which was quite a surprise.

Jessie thought that she had lost the energy sword, but it doesn’t seem to be the case.

“Leave,” Rex turned around and watched the phenomenon with crossed arms. “If you speak to anyone about what you see today, then know that your remaining days in the world of the living is numbered at that exact moment.”

Like a lost and clueless lamb, Jessie looked at Rex, at the energy sword, and then back at him again.

She really didn’t know what was happening right now.

“Are you really going to let me go?”

“Yes.”

“Just like that? Not asking about the organization behind me? Not asking why you’re even my target?” Jessie clarified, finding this situation to be peculiarly odd. “I tried to assassinate you, and despite that, you decided to let me go?”

“I can ask the High Lord about the organization behind you. And I don’t trust you to answer truthfully why I’m even a target,” Rex glanced over his shoulder and smirked. “And for an assassin like you, I’m sure your organization will dispatch you better than I ever could.

“Since you failed to assassinate me, that makes you an unreliable assassin. And in turn, your failure makes your organization unreliable. Get it?” He chuckled at her question. “Go on now. I wouldn’t idle around if I were you. Every second counts.”

As he said that, a notification emerged before him.

<Race Evolution Quest completed!>

“Oh?” Rex smiled in surprise. “April finished her tasks? That was fast.”
