The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1739: Nearing the Goals

Chapter 1739: Nearing the Goals

“How was it?”

Princess Davina descended back to the peak, walking with illuminous grace.

She asked that, but in truth, the one who was shocked the most was her.

Becoming a Werewolf, no, specifically becoming a member of the Silverstar Pack, was incredible.

Initially, she wasn’t expecting too much since Rex was still one major realm from her, so the boost his bloodline would provide should be limited. Only when he grew much stronger would she really feel the difference, but no.

She had gotten a new, powerful ability to command the moons and stars.

And the most important part was that this ability wasn’t tied to her Soul Artifact, or Law.

It was separate; call it an innate ability.

No need for life energy—it only relies on her physicality alone, like a new muscle she could use.

“Aren’t you the one who should answer that question?” Rex raised a brow and posed a teasing smile as he could sense clearly her excitement inside, even though her expression was stone-cold. “How was it? Do you like your new ability? Don’t I deserve some form of appreciation for this?”

“I’m one of your pack members—but I’m still a princess,” Princess Davina flicked her hair. “Don’t get too comfortable speaking informally to me.”

“Right… Even so, you don’t need to be pissed about that. It’s natural for you to fail the first time.”

“Hmm?”

Princess Davina thought he was still playing around, but he wasn’t.

He was referring to something.

“That move you did earlier, you’re trying to combine both the moonlight and starlight, am I right?” Rex raised a brow as he crossed his arms. He was connected with Princess Davina, so he could also feel her disappointment. “Be patient and train. Can you even utilize life energy immediately the first time? This is the same thing.”

“I have a high level of mastery since birth, equivalent to someone who had trained for more than a decade,” Princess Davina answered, like it were natural, like everyone should know that. “So yes—I can. I never struggled with controlling energy. Since these two energies are similar, I’m sure—I could do it right away.”

Rex was taken aback.

An acute smile crossed his lips as he wasn’t expecting her to be that talented.

It seemed he was underestimating her talent.

Considering that she immediately opted to combine two different energies should be a telltale sign that she wasn’t normal. Anyone who gained a new power would probe around and see how their new power works.

Princess Davina? She immediately opted for the hardest display of power and expected to succeed.

Just her mindset alone reeked of an unnatural genius.

“In that case, I get your frustration,” Rex shook his head. “Still, if this will make anything better, your bloodline is probably the most unique one. Your mutation has never happened to anyone before in the past, so that’s something.”

“Naturally,” Princess Davina answered nonchalantly.

That’s to be expected.

“Anyway, go on ahead. I’m going to stay here until it’s time to meet Empress Morgana.”

“Go on ahead? Where am I supposed to go?”

“Hmm? Aren’t you frustrated about earlier? Go and get used to your new body and power.”

“Do you know the most effective way to do that?”

“Of course,” Rex turned and walked away, flicking his hand overhead. “Hunting is the best way.”

“Hunt…?” Princess Davina’s gaze trailed downward in deep thought.

Just then, Rex stopped mid-track—and looked over his shoulder, remembering that he forgot to tell her something. “Oh, and also,” He raised a finger as his eyes glowed crimson. “Don’t hunt easy prey, find one that can make you bleed. You’ll understand far better about your new body that way.”

“Hmph,” Princess Davina headed over to the edge again and stopped there.

She stared into the vast starry sky while the gears in her mind turned, searching for a suitable target.

And a few seconds later, she fixed on a target.

One of the most annoying troublemakers within the Duchy of Castillon, a wandering Voidal Prince.

Scree!

Esmeravon appeared out of nowhere, flapping her wings hard, and called out to her.

It seemed she felt Princess Davina’s attention and was intending to help.

“Not now,” Princess Davina cast a smile at her and waved her hand. “I’m going to go alone.”

Heeding her command, Esmeravon cawed once again and dove straight back to the ground, regrouping with the others in front of the grove. As for Princess Davina, her emerald constellations eye peered to the far horizon.

She could feel that the red moon eye of hers was interfering with her other eye, so she closed it.

And the moment she did, her eyesight became so sharp that he could see the place where her target was.

From this place to there, it should be around forty miles, and yet she could see it.

Swish…

Princess Davina summoned her Soul Artifact, an emerald cloak that fluttered behind her beautifully.

She sucked in a deep breath, and when she was ready, her body pulsed with power.

Boom!

In the blink of an eye, Princess Davina covered more than five miles, disappearing into the horizon as the booming sound and rushing wind were left far behind her. Reaching her destination would’ve taken her seconds with this kind of speed.

Rex, on the other hand, sat down cross-legged on the floor right under the three moons.

“System, show me a percentage until my full recovery. I have to be in peak condition the day I would be meeting Empress Morgana, so recommend me items to hasten my regeneration if I can’t recover in time.”

<Affirmative.>

<Scanning the Shop…>

Once the System began the scan, Rex looked skyward.

“I’m not worried about Empress Morgana, but those Sky People I’ve been hearing about, who kidnapped Devo, I can’t trust them. If the need arose for me to defend myself or even fight them, I should be ready. One at a time. Stay alive, Devo.”

Several days passed by in a blur.

Rex spent his day meditating during the night to regenerate and also replenish his Imbalanced Spiritual Vein, and accompany Nivellen in the Banished Realm to make sure there was no missed variable—that would bite him on the back during the day.

He also sent a telepathic message to Mira, informing her of his location.

Princess Davina mentioned that Mira was in pain, and she was not wrong.

Of course, Rex knew that Mira was suffering from being apart from him for too long, when she’s not even a full Werewolf yet. She needed to come to him, and now that Princess Davina knew the truth, it would be fine for her to stick around.

No need to think about politics.

Mira can talk directly to Princess Davina, and her suffering would be over.

But that’s if she could lower her pride a little.

Although Rex needed to make her obedient, make her acknowledge that he was the Alpha, it wasn’t the top priority right now. After the matters with Empress Morgana and Devo were done, he could then focus on completing the second Race Evolution Quest.

Other than that, Amanir also came to the peak at some point.

It greatly surprises Rex to see him here, as reaching the peak isn’t an easy climb.

He had experienced it first-hand, so he was quite impressed.

Amanir was asking to continue his training in preparation for his fight, and Rex had no reason to refuse.

After all, mentoring Amanir would fill his free time since he couldn’t utilize his power.

Not if he wanted to recover in time.

“Is it really going to be over soon?” Amanir asked as he rested beside Rex. “Your venture in this realm.”

“Yes…” Rex allowed himself to smile a little, recalling everything that had happened in this realm until he finally reached this position. He wasn’t expecting anything, but he had grown a lot. “Once Empress Morgana gives me the things I need, I can ask the Spirit Emperor to demand Devo’s return. If things go smoothly, we’re going back home as soon as possible.”

Even though he said that like he was expecting his return, in truth, he was feeling rather gloomy.

Maybe because of the Forsaken Tower that warped his perception of time, but he became a bit fond of this realm. Even so, his return is a must as he wanted to be there with the others. He wanted to protect them from the rest of the dangers lurking in the shadows.

As for the people he came to know in this realm, they’re going to be fine.

All of them are strong and have someone protecting them.

No need for him to worry about them.

“To tell you the truth, I thought you’d die quickly in this realm,” Amanir cackled in hubris.

“Hmm? Are you underestimating me?” Rex cast a sharp glance. “I don’t die easily.”

“Considering your personality, I thought you’d offend too many people—and ended up dying. But who knows that you can play your hands good? I thought you’d become a brute by now.”

“A brute? In case you don’t know, before I even assimilate you, I’m practically ant. I know how to make a friend or foe.”

“I sorely doubt that, but let’s leave it at that.”

“Seems like the training I gave you is not hard enough for you to spew words like this,” Rex grinned, his eyes flickering with a damning plan as he stood up. “Come on, let’s continue your training. You ought to put more effort into training than into talking.”

“If you go too hard on me, I’m going to tell Evelyn!” Amanir refuted. “Believe me, I’ll do it!”

“Evelyn wouldn’t save you from me.”

“You’re going to try me? In case you don’t know, all the girls love me! I’ll turn them all against you!”

“Shut up and train.”

Meanwhile, inside the royal bubble.

“He’s away, huh…” Kaine was walking across the bustling city street.

His face showed a clear sign of disappointment.

After all, earlier today, he had gone to the Duchy of Castillon—and met Duke Lorcan to probe more of this Rex Silverstar—the man who had caught Empress Morgana’s attention. At worst, Rex was another Haxel waiting to happen.

But at best, he was connected to the very thread Kaine had been hunting for.

One that would give proof as to whether Empress Morgana was clean or not.

“His Majesty fervently believed so, but as his subordinates, I have to assume the opposite,” Kaine’s eyes flickered with determination—as he made his way to the castle. “Even if what I’m doing would be displeasing His Majesty.”

Kaine looked down and looked at the piece of parchment in his hand.

Listed there were a few items.

“Maw of Oblivion is getting transported—an audience with His Majesty is written down, and now that left me with the Phoenix Feather,” Kaine looked up to the building before him, one that was extremely guarded by royal knights.

It was the treasury—a separate building from the castle.

Not too far, though, as it was still within the courtyard, and it went underground instead of up.

“Lord Kaine.”

“Lord Kaine.”

All royal knights outside the gate saluted when they saw him approaching.

Even as he headed for the gate, none of them barred his way.

But it would be more appropriate for him to inform them of the reason for his visit.

“I’m going to check an item at the mausoleum on the lowest floor,” He said, as he gave his identification seal to the royal knight to his left. “Always ask for identification and the reason for the visit, no matter who they are. After all, you never know if I wanted to betray the empire. Do you understand?”

“Yes, Sir. I apologize for being careless,” the royal knight bowed, though the thought was scary.

“Register my visit,” Kaine patted his shoulder and walked inside.

He went through the necessary procedure to enter the treasury and eventually reached the lowest floor.

As soon as he manifested, he raised a brow when two spears pointed at his neck.

“What are you doing?” He asked—his tone growing cold.
