Chapter 1460 The Alpha's Replacement
As soon as Rex departed to the Spirit Realm, the newest members of the Silverstar Pack—Jarvald and Vivian informed the others. Both explained through telepathy that Rex and Linthia had trailed into the Spirit Realm and the castle was in lockdown.
Ryze is overseeing the castle as the highest chain of command until the others come back.
And he would be watching over Rex’s real body himself.
Nothing went wrong along the process.
But the news struck the others badly, especially Evelyn who was hit the hardest.
Rex has told them that his departure would be coming soon but turns out, he departed without anyone knowing—leaving without saying goodbye. Of course, the others asked whether he had left anything, a message or an order for them.
Regretfully, Vivian said that he didn’t say anything.
It was hopeful of them that Rex would give them some words of encouragement.
However, this was aligned with how he had always been.
Carrying the burdens of the entire empire on his back in silence is the kind of man Rex was.
Several hours passed in the Mortal Realm so it should be days in the Spirit Realm already.
Due to the soul transfer, the mental link the Silverstar Pack has towards Rex—was weakened greatly to the point that they barely could feel that he was alive. No matter how much anyone tried to connect, it was almost futile.
At this moment, their connection to Rex was akin to a whisper at the back of their heads.
It was negligible at best.
Inside another castle within the Werewolf territory.
Evelyn was watching the city of Werewolves ahead of him, more silent and inactive due to the sun that was shining in the sky. She regulated her breaths, the process of conquering the other Alpha Primes had only just begun and this was the calm before the storm.
She was confident that the Scarlet Banes Kingdom would eventually fall to the Clarentium Empire.
But the problem at hand, that wasn’t what was inside her mind.
Instead of thinking about her problems, at this brief moment, she couldn’t help but wonder about Rex.
An hour passed and that was ten hours inside the Spirit Realm.
During those ten hours, Evelyn didn’t know what Rex was going through—he might still be adjusting to the Spirit Realm or perhaps he was already struggling and suffering there. Not knowing his condition made her feel worse and worse.
However, the entity inside her earrings reprimanded her.
[Stop daydreaming and move. Don’t think about anything you couldn’t influence, it’s worthless]
“I know.” Evelyn answered—she was only preparing herself right now.
[Focus. Be strong. A Luna is not an easy occupation. Make sure when he comes back, this kingdom falls]
Upon hearing this, Evelyn inhaled deeply through her nose.
She closed her eyes, regulating her breaths—and emotions before she exhaled and opened her eyes again. Unlike before, her eyes were now devoid of emotions as they were replaced by determination, determination to prove her worth.
[Get used to killing unnecessary emotions]
[In the absence of the Alpha, it wasn’t the Female Alpha who took over to lead but it was the Luna]
[Be his replacement. Shed your tender traits. At this moment, you are the Alpha]
Nodding her head, Evelyn connected a mental link to Vivian.
“Contact the subservient kingdoms—the Dark Elves, Elves, Tigermen, Dwarves, Orcs, all of them. Tell them to assemble their most elite warriors, above the seventh-rank realm. Tell them this is a royal decree by my authority,” Evelyn said with a firm tone. “Also, call Kyran to come here as soon as possible. We are going to force the Scarlet Banes Kingdom to submission”
Vivian paused for a second before she answered, ‘What about our forces? The first captain has returned’
“No. Tell him to talk with the Witch of Chaos, I have a favor to ask of her…” Evelyn answered.
Her eyes glistened with an unnatural deadly glint.
One that she has never shown so palpably like this.
[Good… It seemed that you’ve steeled your resolve. Give the Alpha a surprise once he came back]
“Hmm…” Evelyn answered with a hum. “If I’m the Alpha, then I have no to be ruthless”
Just then from behind, Gistella emerged.
“Evelyn,” She called, pointing to the side of her body. “We are going to march for the first city—and demand the Alpha Prime of that city’s subservience. We need you out there, you’re the only one who could lead them”
As soon as Evelyn turned around, however, Gistella noticed a change in her countenance.
She was more serious and chilling.
“Do you have a change of mind?” Gistella asked softly.
Upon hearing this, Evelyn shook her head, “No, I do not have a change of mind”
Even though she said that—Gistella could feel that something was off.
Through her connection with Evelyn, she could tell that the emotions inside of Evelyn were colder.
But Evelyn quickly suppressed their connection, which caught Gistella off guard.
As the Luna, she could do that but she has never done that.
It was clear that there was something Evelyn was hiding and it wasn’t something pleasant.
Initially, their plan was to take over the rest of the rebelling Alpha Primes without a war but it doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Evelyn walked past Gistella and headed outside, ‘I promised no war but that doesn’t mean my words are the only option I’m going to choose. So this is how it felt to be Rex… My heart wanted something but I’m forced to employ other darker options too. But at least, I should try to do the right way first’
‘I’m now starting to understand why he was stoic,’ Evelyn sighed and went through the door.
Meanwhile, on another part of the Werewolf territory—the Twin Lava Peaks Dominion.
Just like Evelyn, knowing the fact that Rex had left without saying anything was disturbing Adhara.
It also bloomed this sense of determination inside of her.
“Rex is risking his life again, I can feel it,” Adhara sighed as she leaned back against a rock, looking up to the morning, cloudless sky. “Whatever he was doing, it’s something incredibly hard for him to leave without saying goodbye to us. He doesn’t want us to tag along…”
Soon, Adhara shook off the feeling of melancholy and peeked at the two volcanic mountains ahead.
‘All he wanted the most was for us to be able to protect ourselves, to become stronger,’ Adhara thought inside—her mind spun with the threats of the current breath that was encroaching closer. ‘As the one who bears the occupation of the Female Alpha, I should give him a surprise when he comes back’
As she thought of that, her eyes narrowed at the torrent of swirling energy.
It was spewing out from the left mountain.
Adhara wasn’t here for sightseeing, she was on a mission, to track down a formidable Werewolf.
Sven—the Werewolf Origin’s bastard son.
However, from the looks of her situation—it seemed she must do more than track Sven down.
From the moment she departed from Evelyn, she interrogated a lot of Werewolves and was not able to find anything about Sven. Fortunately, she was told about the battle near the capital city between Sven and the other Royals.
Sneaking there, Adhara was able to sniff Sven’s scent and tracked him down.
Along the way, she realized that Sven was incredibly strong as his reputation stated.
Adhara counted that he had already killed four Knight-class Order Beasts and even one Lord-class Order Beast, displaying that his power was around the pseudo-tenth rank realm. It placed him as strong as Rex who was the Royal Black Prince.
Small cities of Werewolves praised Sven for his deeds.
Even though Order Beasts were not hostile to Werewolves, they were still a problem.
So with Sven cleaning them up, it was natural for these Werewolves to sing praises for him.
Now, Adhara’s pursuit led her here to the Twin Lava Peaks.
Inside the left mountain was where Sven currently was.
From the information she gathered from the local Werewolves, this place was a forbidden area as the mutated animals around had adapted to the volcanic terrain and could essentially revive from the dead as long as their bodies were submerged in lava.
Inside the two peaks was the nest of the very source that fueled this dominion.
Naturally, the mutated animals there were terrifying.
Despite battling the mutated animals inside non-stop, Sven’s aura was still flaring powerfully. Experience more on My Virtual Library Empire
It was as if his energy and stamina were bottomless.
‘Bad idea, this is a bad idea…’ Adhara thought inside her head.
She had a plan in her mind, to make herself stronger but she didn’t know whether to proceed.
Just then, her eyes widened a little bit when she recalled something.
‘What am I scared for?’ Adhara scoffed, the plan she formed in her mind was risky but she didn’t need to be afraid. ‘I have Caraptaros. Based on what Rex said and I experienced, we’re essentially immortal and could avoid death. As long as I don’t anger Sven too much—and make him go all out, I should be more than fine…’
Nodding her head, she came out of her hiding and leaped onto the left mountain.
Meanwhile, the Dark Elf Kingdom.
Kyran was sitting in the corner of the room with his hands clasped together.
He became one with the shadow, shrouding his figure.
Had it not for the glowing lamp light made of glowing fireflies beside him, he wouldn’t be able to be seen. On the bed, Naela’s eyelids trembled for a second before her eyes were opened. She blinked and adjusted to the surroundings and realized that she was inside a room.
A flash of what had happened flashed in her mind—that Angel attacked her out of nowhere.
But there was something weird about the Angel, she could tell.
“Emmh…” Naela groaned as her mind throbbed when she tried to recall what had happened.
Realizing that she was conscious, Kyran immediately stood up and went to her side.
“Kyran…?” She mumbled weakly, reaching out her hand.
Upon hearing this, Kyran grabbed her hand and hold it tightly, “Yes, I’m here. Do you need anything?”
“Where are we? What happened?”
“You were brought back home an-“
Just as he was about to explain, his eyes flickered as a telepathic voice echoed in his mind.
Kyran frowned, it was Vivian’s voice.
For a second there, Naela could see Kyran’s expression changing—from annoyance to confusion, and then to a grave one. It was clear that whatever Vivian said to him was quite shocking and unexpected as it made him react that strongly.
“What is it?” Naela asked, pulling on his hand gently. “Is there a problem?”
“It’s Evelyn, she called for me,” Kyran sighed deeply.
He knew that the peace he had while waiting for Naela to regain consciousness wouldn’t last long and he was right. But his only regret was that the order came right when Naela woke up, it was a hard thing to do to leave her without an explanation.
Knowing what was inside his mind, Naela smiled an understanding smile.
“Here,” She murmured, giving her dark nature energy and focusing it onto Kyran’s pinky finger, causing his skin to turn bronze. “Go and do what you need to do, I’ll be fine here. Once you have time to talk, you can talk to me through this”
Seeing this, Kyran smiled lightly—so light and fast that Naela didn’t see it.
“Recover well. I cannot trust you to be safe when you’re far from me” Kyran said and stood up.
Naela nodded assuringly before Kyran pulled his hand away and turned around.
He gazed at the open window.
A serious look crossed his face as he recalled the order Vivian sent.
Gistella regularly kept him updated with the situation inside the Werewolf Kingdom and so does Flunra who was reporting his expedition so Kyran knew what was happening. But what he didn’t expect was Evelyn’s decision.
‘Submission…?’ Kyran frowned, finding that word to be foreign from Evelyn’s mouth.
Nevertheless, he has to help.
‘I guess she wanted me to be her left hand, as Rex did’ Kyran thought and lingered on that thought for a few seconds before a small smile curled on his lips. ‘I don’t know why but I’m kind of excited to see what she’ll make me do’
