The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1459 The Path of No Mercy

‘He’s stronger than before…’ Garvain pondered inside. ‘A couple of small ranks higher than before’

Moments ago, he closely observed Rex fighting against Franklin.

From their exchange—Garvain put Rex’s battle prowess to be between Immortal Spirit 1 and Immortal Spirit 2. Considering that his base rank was only at Ascendant Spirit rank, this was already monstrous but now—Rex was closing in to Immortal Spirit 3.

It was the only explanation for Rex being able to sneak attack the Three-faced Leecher like that.

Increasing one’s battle power requires an external force.

An increase like that could only be done through an artifact or the sort.

Recalling how Rex’s aura spiked earlier, he must have activated something that boosted his power.

‘Either way, there must be a time limit’ Garvain squinted. ‘I must make him help us fight that monster’

Not only would killing the Three-faced Leecher be beneficial for them, it would also waste time so that the artifact Rex was using to boost his strength would expire. Once he was weakened, Garvain and the others could swoop in to kill him.

“Help…?” Rex chuckled dryly. “Who said I’m helping?”

Garvain’s expression became sterner, “Your problem is with the Narsa House. Don’t implicate me.”

“I was only going to aim for the Narsa House initially,” Rex answered—as he turned properly to face Garvain. On his face was a scornful smirk, one that showed his bad intentions clearly. “But since you were now fighting alongside Istvan—I’m guessing because of a family matter—I have no choice but to also implicate the Arcalen House”

As he said that, Rex lifted a finger—displaying his gleaming Red Dawn of Kaiser.

Its redness was amplified by the blood coating it.

“Selvaris… Istvan… Eiran… and you” Rex continued, counting the people he intended to kill with his fingers while giving a pause on each name he mentioned. “All of you would pay for Selvaris’ mistake with blood. After all, from the way I see it, aren’t you now a big happy family?”

Upon hearing this, Garvain’s face darkened.

He couldn’t believe that a commoner, a mercenary dared to threaten him and his family like this.

In the past, nobody dared to act like this.

And this only made him even more determined, determined to make the Arcalen House strong again.

To do that, he could start by killing Rex and the Three-faced Leecher.

‘But why didn’t he mention Franklin?’ Garvain thought in confusion.

Since Rex has already confronted them earlier—before the battle started and specifically called Franklin a brother of his—there’s no way that Rex would forget to mention him. No chance that he forgot.

However, Garvain shook his head, it’s good that Franklin wasn’t dragged into this.

“Bold words,” Garvain replied dauntingly. “I am not a man if I let you go after you threatened my family. I’ll publicly declare that I’m not a man if I can’t protect my family! So be prepared, mercenary. Not even your corpse shall remain after this is over!”

Rex’s smirk stretched wider, exposing his sharp, blood-coated fangs.

Something Garvain said amused him.

And for some reason, Garvain could feel his chest tightening when he saw Rex’s smirk.

“If that’s a bet then might as well you declare your lack of manliness right now,” Rex suddenly said.

Garvain raised his eyebrows in confusion when he heard this.

However, a thought came to mind—a thought that he didn’t want to believe.

Seeing how Garvain’s expression shifted from anger to shock and then to denial, Rex couldn’t hide the knowing smirk from blossoming on his face, “Seems like you understood what I meant but in order to make sure you really understood, here… catch”

Rex summoned something from his inventory and tossed it to Garvain.

Instinctively, Garvain caught it and looked at it.

Inspecting it, he thought that it was some kind of cream-colored leather—with the edge of a sword mark on it that was wet on the back. Garvain looked back up at Rex, the uncertainty was palpable behind his eyes, “What’s this? Why did you toss this to me?”

“Oh…?” Rex tilted his head and grinned menacingly. “Aren’t you and him family? Shouldn’t you be able to recognize your own brother when he’s right in front of you?”

Almost instantly when Garvain heard that, his heart skipped a beat.

Slowly, his eyes trailed back to the cream-colored leather that turned out to be Franklin’s skin!

It must be his back’s skin as Franklin’s Soul Artifact mark was there.

Boom!

Garvain’s life energy exploded as he gripped the skin tightly in his hand—the Spiritual Vein inside of him expanded and channeled everything that he had, responding to the amount of anger erupting inside of him.

“Sorry, do you think I forgot to mention him?” Rex mocked and laughed. “Of course not!”

Despite having a different influence on him due to the realm he was currently in, the Blood Moon Order skill still made him more bloodthirsty and terrifyingly primal. As the trait of a hunter inside of him was amplified, there was this urge to take a trophy from his achievement kill.

It was almost as if he operated on instincts.

And the same as now, there was a sudden instinct to compel anger from Garvain.

Rex wanted a challenge—more challenge.

Since the Blood Moon Order skill that turned him into the Blood Moon’s Persona has fixed Garvain as his enemy, there was no mercy. Rex felt nothing by doing something like this. In fact, he was relishing the gore—he was meant for something like this.

<Notice: the user’s sanity stat is decreasing! It’s now below 50%!>

Ignoring the aggressive aura coming from Garvain, Rex called back the skin once again.

Under Garvain’s gaze, he opened his mouth—and devoured the skin as if it was a snack.

Once he gulped it down, he smacked his lips afterward.

“YOU! I’LL KILL YOU!”

In a fit of burning rage, Garvain’s eyes bulged as he wasted no time rushing ahead with malice.

His intention was clear.

No matter what heinous act Rex has done to his family, he would repay it a hundredfold!

Although Garvain’s killing intent was locked onto him, there was no fear or worry in Rex’s heart.

Instead, he was smiling in excitement.

Just when Garvain was about to strike, Rex leaped out of the way in the nick of time—a massive tentacle swiped where he stood with a powerful might. Surprised by this, Garvain’s eyes widened before he got struck—blood climbed out of his mouth before he was thrown away.

“Don’t forget, this is a three-way battle!” Rex laughed like a battle harden maniac.

“I’ll kill you!”

“Raarggh!!”

In the next second, a three-way battle broke out.

Raw energy crackled in the air as the trio clashed, their movements a blur of attacks.

Garvain, his body swollen with power, roared as he swung his battle axes in wide, powerful arcs. Each strike carved through the air like a thunderclap. His draconic tail lashed out, a whip of scaled weapon, as he alternated between attacking Rex and the Three-faced Leecher.

On the other hand, the Three-faced Leecher retaliated with a flurry of tentacles.

As the strongest among the three, it was domineering as each attack broke through its enemies’ defenses more frequently than it was hit by its enemies. Each on its tentacle snapped like a whip, leaving only trails of black ichor as they cut through the black wind.

It was completely furious.

Considering their bet, its pride was hurt when Rex came in with a sneak attack.

Lastly, Rex moved with the feral grace of a predator.

On all fours like a beast, he darted left and right, his movements a chaotic dance of evasion and anger.

The Mask of the Banished Eclipse—glowed faintly, its black trails predicting the trajectories of every attack that came his way—allowing him to twist and turn with uncanny precision. The Red Dawn of Kaiser, his clawed gauntlet, gleamed with a bloody light as it sliced through anything within reach.

Anything at all—tentacles, axes, even the very air seemed to part before its edge.

However, despite his skill, the battle was relentless.

Within the first minute, all three of them were riddled with wounds.

Their blood stained the ground like a painting of gore.

It was Rex’s first fierce fight in the Spirit Realm.

Here, he wasn’t relying on the skills or spells within his arsenal like in the Mortal Realm.

Instead, he adapted, his mind racing as he balanced the use of his three Soul Artifacts.

Unlike Rex and the Three-faced Leecher, Garvain was slowing down as he had no healing abilities.

Clearly, despite having more monstrous strength than Rex as someone within the higher echelon of the Immortal Spirit rank with his body as a Soul Artifact—he couldn’t keep up. His attack was strong and devastating but Rex and the Three-faced Leecher could gradually heal their wounds while he couldn’t.

“Hrarrghkk!” Garvain roared as he leaped and crashed down like a meteor.

Boom!

Under his strength, the ground cracked and dust clouds covered the battlefield.

Just as Rex dodged that crushing blow, his pupils dilated.

Swoosh!

A spear, gleaming like a shard of azure lightning, shot toward his eyes with incredible speed.

Rex tilted his head just in time, the weapon grazing his cheek.

It was Istvan—his movements fluid and precise.

Even though he missed, he spun the spear expertly in a deadly arc before bringing it down in a strike that screamed of battle-hardened experience. He was confident that this blow would land. However, at the very last moment, Rex’s lips curled into a smirk.

Clang!

Istvan gritted his teeth when he saw a white halo blocking the spear with a resonating sound.

“A third Soul Artifact?!” But then, his eyes widened in utter shock when he realized that his spear didn’t clash with the white halo—it slid to the side and struck the ground instead. “Another Law?! You are too dangerous to keep alive!”

Giving no time for Istvan to react, Rex’s claws swiped hard—the impact sending Istvan flying.

Even then, Istvan recovered swiftly—his armor absorbed the attack.

He charged to attack Rex once again and realized that the Three-faced Leecher was also attacking Rex.

Despite that, Istvan continued without stopping—treating the monster as an ally.

Rex gritted his teeth, his body straining under the onslaught.

Clang!

Bam!

Clang!

Although faced with two relentless foes at the Immortal Spirit rank, he was able to hold on—the Minor Law of Foresight and the white halo containing the Minor Law of Misdirection allowed him to retaliate but even his enhanced reflexes couldn’t keep up with the sheer speed and ferocity of his enemies.

As he leaped back, a tentacle speared through his chest. Find your next read on My Virtual Library Empire

Its barbed tip erupted from his back in a spray of blood.

At the same time, Istvan’s spear sliced through his arm—severing it clearly.

Pain exploded through him but the maniacal smile never left Rex’s face.

Savagely, Rex swung his severed arm—spraying blood onto Istvan’s eyes.

It bought him a few seconds to cut the tentacle and kick the Three-faced Leecher away.

Rex somersaulted back and landed gracefully on his feet.

As Istvan wiped the blood from his eyes, he lifted his gaze and saw Rex’s body absorbing the moonlight and his severed arm regrew at a visible rate. Once it recovered, Rex gestured towards Istvan to come with his new hand.

“Just what in the heck is he…? What kind of Demon Spirit is he?” Istvan muttered in a cold breath.

Battling Rex right now, he could feel no notion of winning.

On the other hand, the soldiers who could see the storm of life energy through the Black Rift, the display of a fierce battle as well as seeing a glimpse of Rex fighting against the two lords, as well as the Three-faced Leecher—their legs weak.

“Isn’t he on our side? Why is he fighting Lord Istvan and Lord Garvain too?”

“Not to mention, he’s an Ascendant Spirit, and yet… he’s this strong?”

“Impossible. Just what grade is his Soul Artifacts? His power is unnatural!”
