Chapter 1214: Manchild Tantrum
Slowly but surely, the crimson kingly energy that the formation produced grew more intense.
It became a vibrant aura filling the air.
As the sacrificial carcasses disintegrated turning into speck of dust under the grinding power of the kingly energy—Rex couldn’t help but smile. He knew from this sight, that the sacrifices were absorbed by the blood moon.
Regardless of his relationship with the Lunirich Gods, the ritual was still accepted.
Upon the last corpse disintegrated, the formation unleashed a torrent of kingly energy.
Feeling the brush of its power, Rex feels the arrogance in its oppressive force.
Boom!
Out of nowhere, Flunra who was also marveling at the sight got propelled away.
A tongue of energy flicked him away like a leaf caught in a storm.
Even when that happened, Rex didn’t avert his gaze away other than to the formation as the crimson energy swirled and coalesced within it, a magnificent display of war power. He then stepped forward, the energy seemed to have a magnetic pull towards him.
An energy pulsed through his veins, relishing in its intoxicating embrace.
Despite this act being a taunt to a Lunirich God, Rex was not worried—he was even smiling.
Not that he dared to defy a deity, at least not now, but because he knew that he was safe.
Because of the Lunirich Gods’ mistake, they couldn’t do anything to Rex now.
Interfering in the world of mortals has its consequences, and they are suffering from it.
Upon stepping his foot into the crimson barrier surrounding the formation—made entirely of the blood moon’s kingly energy—Rex was forced to turn, into his Werewolf form. His upright posture and the air around him displayed the grace of regality.
His Werewolf form with two curving horns and red lines has the charm of a prince.
<Notice: the user has entered the Rite of Kaiser formation!>
<It is advised to relax the user’s body and embrace the product of the rite!>
Even if you didn’t say so, I’m already relaxed. This feels great!
Being surrounded by an intense amount of kingly energy like this felt like taking a shower, the air around him crackled with the sheer power of the moon—each wave more potent, than the last one.
Recognizing him as the center of the ritual, the kingly energy blanketed his body.
Like a suit made exactly for him, wrapping tightly across his body.
Just then, a subtle change occurred.
Unlike the vibrant crimson color of the energy like earlier, its hue began to darken, the entire energy shifting, from a royal crimson to a deeper, more sinister shade. Its outer side was still the same royal crimson, but the inner side became dark black.
It was akin to the color of clotted blood caused by poison and fangs.
At the sudden change, Rex’s eyes widened, “What is this…?”
Despite feeling the familiarity, with the energy spatted out from the formation—the sensation was suddenly gone—this was no longer the kingly energy he had come to know. It wasn’t the same, it was not kingly energy anymore.
“My senses are very keen to anything related to the moon, and yet…” He said whisperingly.
He couldn’t identify this new form of energy.
It felt alien, an enigma even to his extremely experienced perception.
No matter what it was, Rex didn’t recognize it as another form of energy, it was beyond him.
Rex’s heart pounded as he stood at the center.
He observed the new form of energy and was left speechless at its might.
As he contemplated—his pupils dilated, as he raised his hand to look at this new energy, that he witnessed, for the first time, “My senses couldn’t even pick it up. Amazing—Kaiser, so this is the height of power… the power of a God”
Swoosh!
Feeling the energy increasing, Rex looked skywards with an unconscious smile on his face.
Upon being surrounded by a higher form of energy, he forgot about everything.
A small part of himself—the inner part of himself, the part that was developed, through all of the pursuits of strength he had done in his life—the part beyond reason was riled to the max as he was shown a height he hadn’t achieved.
However, the smile on his was not because of being aware of this height.
No.
His smile was caused by the fact that he would at some point reach this height.
At some point in the future, he will become invincible.
Katcha!
Out of nowhere, a powerful shockwave, exploded from the formation—sweeping clean of the surroundings and even colliding with the dominion’s barrier, causing it to begin flickering as if it was on the brink of shattering.
Rex was not affected by this as he saw the energy around him begin to form three objects.
All three objects, the shape of a crystal sucked all the energy from the formation.
As the last visages of crimson light faded, sucked into the three crystals, Rex steeled himself to see what they were, “Let’s see… Flunra said that this ritual would give me divine energy so these three crystals should be the result of the ritual, crystals of divine energy,”
Eventually, the formation dimmed, and Rex was left with three blood-red crystals.
It seemed as though these crystals were made from the flesh and blood of the sacrifices.
Looking at the three crystals, levitating before him, Rex scoffed.
But as he was about to reach towards them—he was surprised to see a loud cracking sound from the sky beyond the fog. Rex looked up—and saw that the fog began to be shaded by a nasty blood hue.
Not the fog itself was turning red—but something beyond it.
Rex expected it to be the actual sky that was turning red.
“As I informed you, the Kaiser of the Scarlet Garland would be mad if you take this method. It was the same, as if you are stealing his power by forcing him to hand over his power through this ritual,” Flunra approached from the back, lightly wounded.
However, he didn’t mind his wounds and were focusing on the phenomenon above.
Looking at Rex intently, he continued, “We can still back out from this,”
As long as the three crystals were not taken. from their spots—they would slowly dissipate, and return to the Kaiser of the Scarlet Garland. Rex could still back away from this, and find other methods to gain divine energy.
Flunra knew how fearsome Rex was, and he had every right to be with his feats.
But this was still a matter regarding a deity, so he was still worried.
Rex—on the other hand, cackled when he heard what Flunra said. He gazed at the sky—with the same, taunting smirk. Not even hesitating—he grabbed the three crystals, and closed his eyes, absorbing the energy from them.
<Asborbing Blood Moon Crystals…>
Like a vacuum, his hand took in all of the energy inside the Blood Moon Crystals.
It took only a moment before all three crystals were exhausted from their energy.
…
<Congratulations, the user has gained 12,000 strands of Divine Energy!>
<Sudden Quest!>
Objective: Heal the Countess of the Dark Lunirich from her Chaos Corruption!
Find the Divine Chalice: 0 / 1
Find a Lotus of Lunar Heart: 0 / 1
Find a Phoenix Feather: 0 / 1
Gather 10,000 Strands of Divine Energy: 12,000 /10,000 √
<Divinity Progression (Third Star Demi-God): 12,000 / 50,000>
…
Rex looked at the notifications and cracked a smile.
From the three Blood Moon Crystals, he gained 12,000 strands of divine energy which means one Blood Moon Crystal gave him 3,000 strands. Considering the amount of ninth-rank realm mutated animals he used as a sacrifice, it was not bad.
He even completed one requirement of the sudden quest to help the Countess.
Not to mention, he now knows a way to increase his divinity.
Just then, however, the sky began to rumble and turned into a deeper shade of red.
It was the phenomenon caused by the Kaiser.
Both Rex and Flunra could feel his mighty wrath seeping through the veil between the mortal and deity realms. Surely, seeing that Rex had really taken his power, without his blessing, the Kaiser is extremely angry.
“No going back now…” Flunra whispered from the side.
Hearing this, Rex turned and walked away, “Relax, not even a deity could do shit to me”
Moments later, Rex and Flunra stepped out of the Chrono Hollow.
System, if I reached the Third Star Demi-God, would I directly get stronger?
<Yes, increasing the user’s divinity rank will give a substantial boost akin to achieving a breakthrough in a minor or major realm. Additionally, the multiplier of stats gained, from leveling up would be increased>
<Currently, the user’s stats gained from leveling up are as follows:>
Mental: +250
Strength: +10,000
Agility: +6,000
Endurance: +8,000
Intelligence: +0
Attributable stats: +2,000
Rex nodded his head, now leveling up became as important as a breakthrough.
Even though it would be hard to level up as he was already very high level right now, he can still reach level 100, and gain more than two hundred thousand worth of stats. He could not pass something like that.
As he walked through the fog border, Rex’s expression turned serious.
I needed to quickly heal the Countess and asked her about reaching the third ascension. Not to mention, I still need to devour the blood of old Werewolves, before the Blood Moon comes around or else one would be sacrificed to the Kaiser.
He will be very pleased if that happens, the chance to torture me. I can’t let that happen.
Despite the pressure, Rex felt like the scout was productive.
Not only did he find the Lotus of the Lunar Heart and the Lunar Bee, but he also now, gained the method to increase his divinity. As opposed to reaching the tenth-rank realm through his elements, he could increase his divinity rank and be physically in the tenth-rank realm.
It was stated that he needs to have a tenth-rank realm equivalent power.
So Rex could assume that he didn’t need to actually reach the tenth-rank realm.
Upon emerging outside of the dominion he saw the others were all looking at the sky—and a lot of them were afraid that there might be another phenomenon like the Second Breath was going to rain down on them.
At the sight of Rex coming out, Gistella ran towards him, “Do you know what’s happening?”
Leisurely, Rex glanced at the sky and found that it was completely red.
But surprisingly for Gistella, she saw Rex smiling at the sight.
“Ah…” He mused, seemingly knowing the cause. “It’s only a tantrum of a manchild, ignore it”
Just from the response alone, Gistella could tell that it was his doing.
Seemed to her that whatever Rex and Flunra did inside caused the sky to be painted red.
Looking at the others, who had been securing the perimeter and awaited for his return—Rex clapped his hands and commanded, “Okay, let’s go back. Rest up, and meet me tomorrow at the city hall, I’ll be waiting there at dawn”
Upon hearing this, the assault team responded in a union, “Yes, Your Majesty!”
Gearing up to leave, Rex sensed a familiar scent.
“Look, it’s Kyran,” Gistella said, pointing to the side at a figure that came out of the shadow.
At the sight of Kyran, Rex gave him an acknowledging nod—telling him through that nod he was pleased with what he did with the Dark Elves. He even upgraded his occupation, so he did a great job overall.
“What are you doing here, Kyran? We’re about to go back” Gistella asked.
“It’s about something urgent,” He replied before turning towards Rex. “the city needs you,”
Sensing troubles even from the tone Kyran was using—Rex frowned and nudged his chin to the side, signaling to Kyran to tell him about the problems in private. Of course Gistella also came as she should know about the problems.
Kyran, Rex, and Gistella went to the side, separating them from the assault team.
Only then that Kyran look at them seriously, “Evelyn will explain the problems in detail, but, in short—two problems happened while you were away. First, the city was attacked by a chaos spawn that crawled out. And for the other one…”
“President Sebrof notified us, he said the Angel race was spotted and is coming our way…”
