Chapter 865 - 855. Telekitten-sis
Chapter 865 - 855. Telekitten-sis
The Incubus System Chapter 855. Telekitten-sis
"Like this?" I asked in disbelief, gesturing at the elders who floated around us as if we were participating in some eccentric mass exorcist performance.
"Yes," Larry responded casually, as if orchestrating levitating elders was an everyday occurrence. Then, as if struck by a stroke of genius, he proposed, "Oh, you can make it look like they're dancing. Ballet, if you know the moves. You know, like what's common in horror movies," he added, a glint of excitement in his eyes, proud of his seemingly 'brilliant' idea.
"Larry," I uttered, struggling to contain the urge to facepalm, since, of all things, that's where his mind went. My gaze shifted to him, skepticism written all over my face.
"The problem is, how do we get them to the hospital in a condition like this? They are clearly attracting everyone's attention. You can't expect us to stroll into the hospital, casually carrying these floating elders without causing panic, right?" I queried, urging him to engage his logic. "Or are you suggesting we pretend you have hidden powers and waltz into the hospital with floating elders swirling around you?" I added, emphasizing the need for him to employ rational thinking.
His response, however, left me utterly flabbergasted. He snapped his fingers with enthusiasm. "That's a good idea, pal! It will make me look like a superhero!" he exclaimed, his face lighting up with the joy of a child who just discovered a new toy.
I couldn't help but facepalm. 'Seriously?!' I screamed in my head, questioning the cosmic irony of Larry's thought process.
But, as fate would have it, his radiant smile quickly dimmed. "Oh wait… No way! The organization will arrest me and do a bunch of tests on me to find out where my power comes from. This will be bad," he rambled on, finally exhibiting a glimmer of rational thinking.
"Yes! That's what I mean!" I chimed in, responding as if his newfound rationality was a celestial blessing bestowed upon me.
Larry pondered for a moment, his eyes fixed on the levitating elders, as if hoping they'd reveal the secrets of levitation to him. After a brief contemplation, he turned to me, a casual expression on his face. "I guess you just need to make them 'walk'," he suggested as if offering a solution to the most mundane problem.
I cringed once again. "Walk?" I repeated with a perplexed frown.
"Yeah, maybe like what those slimes did before? Or you can use your Telekitten-sis skill or whatever it is to make them appear as if they are walking," he continued to share his brilliant ideas, still maintaining that nonchalant tone that seemed to be his default setting.
"It's Telekinesis," I corrected him, hoping that at least the term for my supernatural ability would stick in his memory.
"Yup. That Tele thing," he replied with an unapologetic grin, clearly unbothered by the details.
"Some of them were injured. Forcibly moving their bodies with my Telekinesis will endanger their lives or worsen their injuries," I explained, trying to maintain a light tone.
Larry scratched his head, a sheepish grin forming on his face. "Yeah, you got a point. I guess the dramatic entrance isn't the best option here," he conceded, the excitement of his ideas fading.
I nodded, relieved that he was back on the same page. "Let's stick to the basics. What if we take them to the alley near the hospital? While you go to the hospital to ask the medical staff for help, I will look after them and make sure there are no demons or anything that could hurt them there?" I proposed what seemed to be the most practical solution.
I anticipated a nod of agreement, but Larry, in his quest for a heroic endeavor, was clearly dissatisfied. "Uh, that sounds a little flat. There wasn't any heroic thing," he said, a hint of disappointment on his face as if the lack of cinematic flair was a personal letdown. A subtle frown creased his forehead.
It seemed Larry had a penchant for envisioning grandiose scenarios that bordered on the theatrical. The practicality of my suggestion apparently fell short of his expectations for a heroic act. In his mind, perhaps, saving the day required a touch of flamboyance and a dash of spectacle. The alley near the hospital didn't quite fit the bill for a dramatic rescue.
I shot him an annoyed stare, the words 'Seriously?!' practically written across my face with a gap in my mouth big enough to park a car.
Observing my expression, he pressed his lips together, a wry smile forming. He clicked his tongue in mild exasperation. "I get it, I get it. I agree. You don't need to make that face, you know," he said in a half-annoyed tone, acknowledging my visible frustration.
"Right," I responded, suppressing the urge to roll my eyes. "Let's go," I said, ready to open my portal. But just as I was about to execute the plan, a voice emanated from his Demon Compass.
"L, how are you? We track there is a lot of demonic activity around you! Are you alright?" The voice belonged to a male, and I couldn't help but speculate that 'L' was some kind of his alias in the organization.
Our faces transformed from casual banter to serious concern in an instant. We exchanged glances, a silent conversation passing between us. His eyes held a clear sense of doubt, and in response, I nodded subtly. There was no escaping the need to answer; otherwise, suspicion would loom over him.
"Yeah, I'm fine," he responded into the Demon Compass, his tone betraying a hint of urgency. "Just a couple of rogue demons, but I've got it under control."
The voice echoed once more. "N and his team have gone to your place. They should be arriving any minute," the male voice warned. I bet N was Nathan. "Wait for them!" the operator said before the connection was lost. In an instant, Larry's face turned pale.
"Uh-oh. Looks like the superhero needs a superhero now," I quipped with a grin.
