Chapter 169: Chapter 169 The Battle is won - Victory 1

Talia’s POV

(Readers discretions are advised)

The power pulsed around me, holding the battlefield in place.

I could see the frozen faces of the wolves around me. Some with tears on their cheeks, and others with their mouths open mid-roar. The rogues looked terrified, their eyes wide with confusion and fear. They had no idea what was happening, and neither did I, but I knew I had to keep going.

I could feel it draining me, slipping away like water through my fingers, but I did not let go. I could not let go yet.

The exhaustion was creeping in, pulling at my limbs and clouding my mind, but I pushed it aside.

Kaelen was still frozen on his knees.

I could see the silver still eating away at him, with the wounds on his chest smoking and burning. The sight made my stomach turn, and I felt the anger rise in my chest again, hot and sharp.

His gray eyes fixed on me, and I could see the love in them, the trust, and the hope.

He was in so much pain, but he was still looking at me like I was the only thing that mattered in the world. He believed in me, and that was all I needed to know.

I could feel the power slipping away, but I pushed it back, forcing it to stay. I had to hold on just a little longer, and I had to finish this.

"It is going to be okay," I said. "I am here."

I turned away from him and looked at Viktor.

He was still massive, even frozen, with his claws raised and his teeth bared. But he was helpless now, and I could see the fear in his eyes. The greatly feared Viktor was afraid of me.

I knew that, with how arrogant he was, he had never been afraid of anyone before, and I could tell that he did not know how to handle it either.

He was still frozen, with his claws raised, and his eyes wide with fear. I could see the recognition in them, because he knew what I was now, he knew who I was, and he knew he had made a terrible mistake.

I could feel the anger burning in my chest, and the power burning in my eyes. He had tried to kill Kaelen, and he had tried to destroy my pack. And now, he would pay.

I looked around again, took a deep breath, and spoke, looking at Kaelen, and Viktor. “Release.”

Everyone remained frozen, except for Kaelen, and Viktor, who were now unfreezed, after I gave the command.

As soon as I released the power holding them, Viktor stumbled forward, gasping for breath.

His claws scraped against the ground as he tried to steady himself, and his chest heaved with every breath. He looked weaker now, and smaller somehow, like the power had stripped away everything that made him terrifying.

His body swayed as he shook his head like he was trying to clear the fog from his mind. He looked dazed and lost, like a wolf who had just woken from a nightmare and did not know what was real anymore.

Then his eyes found me, and I saw the rage burning in them.

He looked around, especially at his rogue wolves, then he looked back at me. "You," he snarled. "You did this to me."

I did not answer, I just stood there and watched him.

He raised his claws and lunged at me, but he was too slow. My power had weakened him, the fear had weakened him, and he was not the same wolf who had faced Kaelen in the Alpha fight.

Before he could reach me, a blur of motion shot past me.

I had to steady myself, and look properly, before I realized that it was Kaelen.

He had shifted back to his human form, and his body was covered in wounds, with blood dripping from the gashes on his chest and shoulder. But he was standing, he was fighting, and he threw himself between me and Viktor, with his body blocking the rogue Alpha’s path.

I could see the blood still dripping from his wounds, with the silver still burning in his veins, but he did not care. He was willing to die to protect me, and the pack, and that made my heart ache, and swell at the same time.

It was a miracle that he was still standing, and still fighting, and I knew that he was running on pure willpower alone.

His eyes were blazing with fury, and his body was moving with the same motion as his breathing.

"You will not touch her," he said with a growl, and his voice was low and cold, carrying the weight of a promise.

Viktor laughed crazily, and pointed at me, like he was going to say something. But before he could say a word, Kaelen lunged at him, and the two Alphas clashed one final time.

Kaelen was weak, bleeding, and barely standing, but the way he moved, was as if he was fueled by something stronger than the pain from the silver.
